Aksara is a journal that publishes results of literary studies researches, either Indonesian, local, or foreign literature. All articles in Aksara have passed the reviewing process by peer reviewers and edited by editors. Aksara is published by Balai Bahasa Bali twice a year, June and December. Aksara was first published in Denpasar in 1991, by Balai Penelitian Bahasa Denpasar. The name of Aksara had undergone the following changes: Aksara (1991—1998), Aksara Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra (1998—2016), and Aksara (2017). By 2017, Aksara has started to publish in electronic version under the name of Aksara. Since the electronic version should refer to the printed version and following the official document SK 0005.25800353/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2017.05 dated May 20th, 2017 stating that ISSN 0854-3283 printed version uses the (only) name of Aksara, in 2017 the electronic version began to use the name Aksara and obtained a new e-ISSN number: 2580-0353. Starting in 2020, Aksara published 12 articles. Aksara accepts submissions of original articles that have not been published elsewhere nor being considered or processed for publication anywhere, and demonstrate no plagiarism whatsoever. The prerequisites, standards, and format of the manuscript are listed in the author guidelines and templates. Any accepted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two referees. Authors are free of charge throughout the whole process, including article submission, review and editing process, and publication.

Abstract

The background of this study is based on the limitations of conventional teaching methods that are passive and do not involve students in creative practices. This study aims to explain the need for a learning model that integrates collaborative writing practices, especially in the Drama Appreciation Course. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving 95 students from the Indonesian Language Study Program at the Syekh Nurjati State Islamic University of Cyber Cirebon. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that collaborative learning has been proven to enrich the process of writing drama scripts through the multidisciplinary exchange of ideas, experiments, and more complex character development. Group dynamics in collaborative writing train students in effective communication, negotiation, and conflict management. Technology integration not only facilitates the creative process but also prepares students to face the realities of the modern performing arts industry. Practical implications for institutions, the need to develop lecturer training modules, and supporting infrastructure using digital platforms or collaborative studios. Implications for the curriculum, the need to develop assessment rubrics that recognize individual contributions in teamwork. AbstrakLatar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh keterbatasan metode pengajaran konvensional yang pasif dan kurang melibatkan mahasiswa dalam praktik kreatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplanasikan kebutuhan model pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan praktik penulisan kolaboratif, khususnya pada Mata Kuliah Apresiasi Drama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang melibatkan 95 mahasiswa Program Studi Bahasa Indonesia di Universitas Islam Negeri Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kolaboratif terbukti memperkaya proses penulisan naskah drama melalui pertukaran ide multidisiplin, eksperimen dan pengembangan karakter yang lebih kompleks. Dinamika kelompok dalam penulisan kolaboratif melatih mahasiswa dalam komunikasi efektif, negosiasi, dan manajemen konflik. Integrasi teknologi tidak hanya mempermudah proses kreatif, tetapi juga mempersiapkan mahasiswa menghadapi realitas industri seni pertunjukkan modern. Implikasi praktis bagi institusi, perlunya pengembangan modul pelatihan dosen dan infrastruktur pendukung dengan menggunakan platform digital atau studio kolaboratif. Implikasi bagi kurikulum, perlunya penyusunan rubrik penilaian yang mengakui kontribusi individu dalam kerja tim.

Abstract

One of the oral traditions in Indonesia that needs attention so that its existence does not become extinct is the Mapag Tamba tradition in Tugu Village, Sliyeg District, Indramayu Regency. This research aims to describe, explore, find, and its implementation as BIPA teaching material in an effort to preserve it. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was done through literature study, observation, and interviews. For data analysis techniques using Grounded Theory perspective.  Based on the research findings, the stages of the Mapag Tamba ceremony and the cultural values contained in the tradition are described. The cultural values include; 1) cultural values of human relations with God; 2) cultural values of human relations with nature; 3) cultural values of human relations with other humans; 4) cultural values of human relations with society, dan 5) cultural values of human relations with themselves. Furthenmore, as an effort to preserve oral tradition, the values contained in the Mapag Tamba tradition are implemented in the form of BIPA teaching materials. The utilisation of oral traditions in BIPA learning can enrich learners' cross-cultural understanding and strengthen their communicative competence. This tradition offers values that can build the cultural sensitivity of BIPA learnes. AbstrakSalah satu tradisi lisan di Indonesia yang perlu mendapat perhatian supaya tidak punah keberadaannya adalah tradisi Mapag Tamba di Desa Tugu Kecamatan Sliyeg Kabupaten Indramayu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan, menggali, menemukan, serta implementasinya nilai budaya dalam tradisi Mapag Tamba sebagai materi ajar BIPA dalam upaya pelestariannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah tuturan yang merepresentasikan nilai budaya pada tradisi Mapag Tamba dengan sumber data berupa informan/narasumber tokoh masyarakat setempat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka, observasi, dan wawancara. Untuk teknik analisis data menggunakan perspektif Grounded Theory. Berdasarkan hasil temuan penelitian, dideskripsikan proses tahapan pelaksanaan upacara Mapag Tamba dan nilai-nilai budaya yang terdapat pada tradisi tersebut. Nilai budaya yang dimaksud di antaranya; 1) nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan, 2) nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan alam; 3) nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain; 4) nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan masyarakat; dan 5) nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan dirinya sendiri. Selanjutnya, sebagai upaya pelestarian tradisi lisan, nilai-nilai yang terdapat pada tradisi Mapag Tamba tersebut diimplementasikan dalam bentuk materi ajar BIPA. Pemanfaatan tradisi lisan dalam pembelajaran BIPA dapat memperkaya pemahaman lintas budaya para pemelajar dan memperkuat kompetensi komunikatif mereka. Tradisi ini menawarkan nilai-nilai yang dapat membangun sensitivitas budaya para pemelajar BIPA.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of human–AI intimacy in the analog horror short film Ourgirlfriendmaria.com through the lenses of semiotics, digisexuality, and fictophilia. Focusing on the character of Christopher, a socially isolated NEET, the film depicts the escalation of a parasocial relationship with an AI companion into possessive desire and virtual violence. Using qualitative semiotic analysis, this research explores how visual and interactive signs such as simulated rejection and the final symbolic choice blur the boundaries between artificial agency and human emotion. Drawing on representation theory, the film is interpreted as a critique of digital isolation and the normalization of emotional dependency on feminized AI entities. The concepts of digisexuality and fictophilia reveal how second-wave digital intimacy destabilizes ethical “digihealth” principles and intensifies fictophilic attachment. The findings suggest that AI romance systems risk reinforcing objectification and control dynamics, extending their implications beyond virtual spaces. The film ultimately functions as a cautionary narrative, emphasizing the psychological risks of unchecked digital intimacy and the need for ethical AI design.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Indonesian language learning through the philosophical perspectives of idealism and realism, and to explore how these perspectives are integrated with the deep learning approach. This study employed a qualitative research method involving document analysis and semi-structured interviews conducted with three Indonesian language teachers who had at least two years of experience in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as one language education lecturer with an academic background in educational philosophy. Content analysis was employed to interpret the philosophical meanings that emerged during the implementation of the curriculum. The results show that the idealist perspective emphasizes the cultivation of students’ moral, spiritual, and character values through Indonesian language learning. In contrast, the realist perspective highlights real-life experiences, practical skills, and the relevance of learning to everyday life. The deep learning approach serves as a bridge between the two philosophies by integrating reflective discussions on moral values with project-based, contextual Indonesian language learning activities identified in classroom practices. Therefore, the Independent Curriculum is not only regarded as an educational innovation but also as a transformation of the educational paradigm that holistically integrates idealism and realism. The findings of this study contribute to the development of more meaningful, adaptive, and contextually relevant Indonesian language learning strategies in the modern educational era.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the understanding of students of the Language and Literature Study Program in analyzing the psychological aspects of characters and to reveal their expectations as readers towards the psychological conflict depicted in the novel Trauma. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a reader-oriented literary reception approach. The techniques used to analyze the data include three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that some students have difficulty understanding character conflicts due to low reading interest and lack of analytical practice, while students with good reading habits are able to provide deep emotional responses. As many as 31 out of 50 students (63%) have the same understanding of the psychological analysis of characters in the novel Trauma, and 58.8% (29 students) show extensive reading experience so that they have good interpretive readiness. Meanwhile, the results of the horizon of expectations show that 58% of students stated that their expectations for the contents of the novel were fulfilled, especially related to the values of life in the story (69%), reading experience and interest (58%), and the ability to connect the meaning of fiction with reality (62%). These findings show that the majority of students are able to accept and respond to literary works critically and reflectively based on their experiences and knowledge. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pemahaman mahasiswa program studi bahasa dan sastra dalam menganalisis aspek psikologi tokoh serta mengungkap harapan mereka sebagai pembaca terhadap konflik psikologis yang digambarkan dalam novel Trauma. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan resepsi sastra berorientasi pada pembaca. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data meliputi tiga tahapan, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan memahami konflik tokoh karena rendahnya minat baca dan kurangnya latihan analisis, sementara mahasiswa dengan kebiasaan membaca yang baik mampu memberikan tanggapan emosional yang mendalam. Sebanyak 31 dari 50 mahasiswa (63%) memiliki pemahaman yang sama terhadap analisis psikologi tokoh dalam novel Trauma, dan 58,8% (29 mahasiswa) menunjukkan pengalaman membaca yang luas sehingga memiliki kesiapan interpretatif yang baik. Sementara itu, hasil cakrawala harapan menunjukkan bahwa 58% mahasiswa menyatakan harapannya terhadap isi novel terpenuhi, terutama terkait dengan nilai-nilai kehidupan dalam cerita (69%), pengalaman dan minat membaca (58%), serta kemampuan menghubungkan makna fiksi dengan kenyataan (62%). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa mampu menerima dan menanggapi karya sastra secara kritis dan reflektif berdasarkan pengalaman serta pengetahuan yang dimiliki.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of literature learning through the implementation of Deep Learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) models integrated with digital platforms among vocational high school students in the Aileu District, Timor-Leste. The development of educational technology opens opportunities for literature learning that no longer focuses on memorization but rather on deep understanding. The deep learning approach is used to encourage analysis, reflection, and critical interpretation of literary texts, while PBL presents authentic problem-based learning through collaboration and active discussion. This study employs a quasi-experimental method with two groups, namely an experimental class that applies Deep Learning–PBL assisted by digital platforms and a control class using conventional methods. The research instruments include a literary comprehension test, student participation observation sheets, and a questionnaire on perceptions of technology utilization. The results show a significant improvement in literary analysis skills, learning engagement, and interpretive creativity of students in the experimental class compared to the control class (p < 0.05), with moderate to high effect sizes. The use of digital platforms also strengthens the learning experience through multimedia, online collaboration, and rapid feedback. This study concludes that the integration of deep learning, PBL, and digital technology is effective in transforming literature learning into a more profound, interactive, and relevant practice for 21st-century education

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the representation of religious ideology and social morality in the novel Dalam Mihrab Cintaby Habiburrahman El Shirazy using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach of the Norman Fairclough model. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with a three-dimensional analysis framework: textual (linguistic), discourse practice (interpretation), and social practice (explanation). The findings revealed that the novel constructed a religious value hegemony through symbols, language patterns, and narrative structures emphasizing repentance, honesty, responsibility, and the roles of women and communities in character formation. Additionally, the Islamic boarding school setting and the author’s identity as a da’i further reinforced the religious ideology embedded in the text. The study also found that the novel offered a critique of social inequality framed through religious morality, positioning literature as an effective medium for disseminating conservative values in modern society. These findings carried implications for character education, religious literature curricula, and the development of discourse-based critical literacy. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap representasi ideologi religius dan moralitas sosial Novel Dalam Mihrab Cinta karya Habiburrahman El Shirazy dengan menggunakan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis (AWK) model Norman Fairclough. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis tiga dimensi, yaitu teks (linguistik), praktik wacana (interpretasi), serta praktik sosial (eksplanasi). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa novel secara eksplisit membangun hegemoni nilai religius melalui simbol, struktur bahasa, dan konstruksi narasi yang menekankan pada tobat, kejujuran, tanggung jawab, serta peran perempuan, dan komunitas dalam pembentukan karakter. Selain itu, latar pesantren dan identitas pengarang sebagai da’i turut memperkuat ideologi religius yang diinternalisasi dalam teks. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa novel ini mengkritik ketimpangan sosial dengan bingkai keadilan melalui moralitas religius, serta menjadikan sastra sebagai medium penyebaran nilai-nilai konservatif yang efektif dalam masyarakat modern. Temuan ini berimplikasi pada pengembangan pendidikan karakter, kurikulum sastra religius, dan literasi kritis berbasis wacana.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing phenomenon of premarital relationships among adolescents and the limited number of studies that position language as a primary factor in shaping attitudes. This study aims to describe the linguistic strategies employed in the School-Age Youth Guidance Program (BRUS) in shaping adolescents’ attitudes toward premarital relationships. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with frameworks from pragmatics, Systemic Functional Linguistics, and Critical Discourse Analysis. The data consist of facilitator utterances, participant responses, and BRUS module texts, which are collected through observation, documentation, and transcription, and then analyzed through data reduction, coding, and thematic interpretation. The results of this study indicate that the linguistic strategies in BRUS are dominated by directive speech acts, the use of modality such as must, should, have the right to, and can, as well as evaluative and preventive diction such as self control, risk, and responsibility. The results of this study also show that language in BRUS is not neutral, but functions to direct, legitimize, and reframe premarital relationships as risky behavior that should be avoided. In addition, adolescent responses demonstrate the internalization of values through expressions of understanding, assertiveness, caution, and future orientation. The implications of this study confirm that linguistic strategies play a strategic role in shaping adolescents’ attitudes persuasively without generating resistance, thus BRUS can be understood as an effective linguistic practice in constructing values and guiding adolescents’ decision making.

Abstract

This study examines inclusive literacy practices in supporting the language abilities of university students with dyslexia. The research is grounded in the presence of linguistic barriers that affect academic text comprehension and equal access to learning. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, documentation, and supported by descriptive questionnaire results. Data were thematically analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that difficulties in understanding academic readings constitute the most prominent linguistic challenge experienced by students with dyslexia. Questionnaire data are used descriptively to strengthen qualitative interpretations, indicating that most participants perceive this challenge consistently. Furthermore, inclusive learning support strategies particularly the provision of audio-visual materials and flexible assessment methods are perceived as highly effective in facilitating learning participation. These findings affirm that linguistic barriers can be reduced through adaptive learning approaches and inclusive educational policies, enabling students with dyslexia to engage more optimally in academic processes.
