Abstract

Marine tourism in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) presents significant economic opportunities but poses risks to environmental sustainability without proper conservation efforts. This research explores how environmental conservation can be integrated into sustainable marine tourism development strategies to ensure that tourism growth does not harm NTB's natural resources. The study adopts a quantitative approach, surveying 100 key stakeholders, including tourism professionals and local Government officials, to analyze the relationship between environmental conservation and sustainable tourism success. Using multiple linear regression, the research reveals that public awareness of environmental conservation significantly impacts tourism sustainability. In contrast, Government actions and conservation efforts are perceived as less effective. The findings emphasize that challenges in conservation can motivate improvement efforts, suggesting that stakeholder collaboration is crucial in addressing obstacles and enhancing marine tourism's long-term viability. This study provides a basis for developing policies promoting economic growth and environmental protection in NTB, demonstrating that sustainable tourism can yield substantial economic benefits while preserving natural ecosystems. These insights aim to guide future efforts to balance tourism development with environmental conservation, establishing NTB as a model for sustainable marine tourism.

Abstract

The Central Lombok area is renowned for its natural tourist destinations, such as beaches and waterfalls. However, many natural attractions, like the Air Terjun Gunung Janggot in Aik Berik Village, North Batukliang District, remain relatively unknown to tourists. This study investigates marketing strategies for eco-tourism at Air Terjun Janggot, emphasizing sustainability and community engagement. The region has significant potential to develop into a sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism destination. The purpose of this research is to determine the promotional strategies used for Air Terjun Gunung Janggot. Data collection methods include qualitative approaches such as observation, documentation, and interviews. The findings reveal that the promotional strategy employed primarily involves the POSE strategy, focusing on Owned Media as the main tool for digital promotion. The research also evaluates various other marketing methodologies, including the utilization of social media, narrative-based promotion, and community-centered marketing. Local community involvement is highlighted as a critical component, considering both their role in the operation of the destination and their potential benefits from tourism activities. A participatory and inclusive approach is advocated, which is anticipated to enhance local economic prosperity while safeguarding the natural environment of Air Terjun Janggot. The study provides actionable recommendations for destination managers and relevant stakeholders to implement effective and sustainable marketing strategies.

Abstract

The existence of ecotourism in Desa Batu Jongjong, Kecamatan Bahorok, can be an opportunity for the village community. However, the management of ecotourism, especially in Desa Batu Jongjong, Kabupaten Langkat, has not fully provided benefits in terms of economy, ecology, and socio-culture. The issues prompting this research include the lack of human resources in the tourism sector, unclear regulations, and management models for tourist attractions. This is evident from the limited active involvement of the community in tourism activities. The main goal of this study is to develop a community-based ecotourism management model. This research uses a qualitative method with descriptive analysis, SWOT matrix, and the formulation of IFAS, EFAS, and internal and external matrices. Data collection was carried out through interviews, surveys, and field observations, involving selected stakeholders as informants. The SWOT analysis shows that ecotourism management in Desa Batu Jongjong has a total internal factor score of 3.34 and an external factor score of 3.31, placing Desa Batu Jongjong in cell 1, which means it is very strong. In this position, strategies such as market penetration, market development, management, and product development can be applied. Therefore, the model to be implemented includes enhancing promotional content, establishing and strengthening ecotourism institutions, actively involving visitors in management, increasing community involvement, developing integrated tourism packages, improving facilities and infrastructure, creating new tourist attractions, and enhancing community empowerment. By implementing these strategic measures, community-based ecotourism management in Desa Batu Jongjong can be further optimized, supporting sustainable tourism, and providing significant economic, social, and environmental benefits for the local community.

Abstract

This study focuses on the development strategies of Jumog Waterfall as a tourist attraction in Berjo Village, Ngargoyoso District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. Known as the "Lost Paradise," Jumog Waterfall offers a unique natural appeal with its pristine water sourced directly from Mount Lawu. The main objectives of this research are to identify the tourism potential of the waterfall, analyze the challenges faced by the local community in developing the site, and propose strategies for sustainable development. The research employs a qualitative approach, incorporating observational studies and semi-structured interviews with various stakeholders, including local residents, tourism managers, and visitors. The findings reveal that Jumog Waterfall possesses significant tourism potential due to its natural beauty, accessible facilities, and the active involvement of the local community. However, the development of this site is hindered by issues such as land ownership disputes, insufficient government support in training local entrepreneurs, and a lack of distinctive local products that could enhance the tourist experience. The study suggests that collaboration between the local government and the community is crucial to overcoming these challenges. Recommended strategies include improving infrastructure, offering training programs for local businesses, enhancing promotional efforts through digital platforms, and developing unique local products that reflect the cultural heritage of the area. This research contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable tourism development in rural areas and underscores the importance of community participation in managing and preserving natural attractions. The findings are expected to inform policymakers and stakeholders involved in the tourism sector, ultimately fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for the residents of Berjo Village.
