Abstract

Thisstudy aimed to investigate (1) the effectiveness of practicum learning at the Fashion Expertise Program in State Vocational High Schools in Yogyakarta Special Territory, and (2) the effect of teachers mastery on practicum learning materials, practicum learning methods, teachers understanding of students characteristics, and teachers competence in evaluation on the effectiveness of practicum learning. This study was a correlational ex post facto study. The sample consisted of 202 Year II students of the Fashion Expertise Program in State Vocational High Schools in Yogyakarta Special Territory, selected from a population of 425 students by the proportional random sampling technique. The data were analyzed by using the descriptive technique, partial correlation, and multiple regression at a significance level of 5%. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the effectiveness of the practicum learning was in the good category (mean = 7.97 and maximum score = 9.22). The partial correlation analysis showed that there was a positive and significant influence of teachers mastery on practicum learning materials, practicum learning methods, teachers understanding of students characteristics, and teachers competence in evaluation on the effectiveness of practicum learning, with coefficients of, respectively, r1y (2, 3, 4) = 0.326, r2y (1, 3, 4) = 0.187, r3y (1, 2, 4) = 0.182, and r4y (1, 2, 3) = 0.163. The multiple regression analysis showed that the coefficient of the multiple correlation R was 0.553. The coefficient of determination (R2) was 30.60%, consisting of teachers mastery on practicum learning materials (7.20%), practicum learning methods (15.60%), teachers understanding of students characteristics (5.90%), and teachers competence in evaluation (1.90%).Keywords: effectiveness, practicum learning

Abstract

Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (Daerah) selama ini dianggap belumdapat menampilkan citra yang memuaskan sebagai wakil rakyat. Dalammelaksanakan tugasnya, ada tiga fungsi utama yang diemban badan legis- .latif ini yaitu fungsi representasi, fungsi legislasi dan fungsi kontrol.Sorotan paling tajam adala4 ·lemahnya lembaga inidalam; melaksanakanfungsi legislasinya (pembuat peraturan).Banyak faktor yang dapat dikemukakan sehubllngan dengan"lemahnya" lembaga legislatif dalam melaksanakan fungsi legislasinya,mulai dari peraturan tata tertib yang tidak mendukung, kuranginformasi/data, tidak memiliki tenaga ahli, sarana danprasarana yangkurang memadai sampai dengan mekanisme rekruitmen anggota dewan.Bagi lembaga legislatif daerah (DPRD), ken'dala utama yangdihadapi berpangkal dari UU No.5 tahun 1974 yang ·tidak memberikanbobot kekuasaan yang memadai kepada DPRD. Kedud~kan DPRD yangtidak semata-mata sebagai wakil rakyat tetapi juga,sebagai unsurPemerintah Daerah bersama-sama Kepala Daerah, meQyebabkan DPRDharus "membina" posisinya dengan pihak eksekutif. Diberlakukannyaperan ganda dalam diri Kepala Daerah yang juga Keapala Wilayah,membuat DPRD kurang leluasa memainkan perannya sebagai legislatordalam merumuskan peraturan daerah. Selain itu, kualiui~ anggota DPRyang belum memadai, menyulitkannya dalam proses "tawar-menawar" :,dengan kondisi bargaining power yang lebih besar pada'pihak eksekutif

Abstract

In order to suit and respond to the develop-=ment of science and technology and other relatedissues, a curriculum replacement is a necessity.This curriculum analysis was carried out inorder to observe the development of genetics subjectmatter in the curriculum of 1984 into that of1994 and the relevance of these curricula to the anticipationof recent and future developments. Geneticswas studied equally well. Analysis was conductedby comparing the curriculum of 1984 to that of 1994and considering the development of recent and futuregenetics.The result shows that the genetics subject matterof the curriculum of 1984 has not shown any change;however, biotechnology as applied genetics is added tothe curriculum of 1994. In conclusion, the genetics subjectmatter of the curriculum of 1984 is still not adequateto anticipate the development of recent and hturegenetics. Addition of some related subject mattershould be proposed, covering genes and gene expression,chromosomes (structure, variation of structure,variation of chromosome numbers) and cytoplasm inheritance.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh tingkat kualitas pemanfaatan e-learning ditinjau dari beberapa komponen model evaluasi CSE-UCLA yang terdiri atas system assessment, program planning, program implementation, program improvement, dan program certification. Pendekatan penelitian adalah kualitatif dengan metode studi evaluatif model evaluasi CSE-UCLA. Subjek penelitian ini adalah rektor, kepala laboratorium komputer, dosen, mahasiswa, dan pengelola E-learning. Pengumpulan data dilakukan lewat angket, wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis dilakukan lewat deskriptif kuantitatif, sedangkan kelemahan-kelemahan yang ditemukan dalam evaluasi menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kualitas pemanfaatan e-learning ditinjau dari komponen system assessment termasuk kriteria baik dengan persentase sebesar 89,93%, komponen program planning termasuk kriteria baik ( 87,47%), komponen program implementation termasuk kriteria baik (88,13%), komponen program improvement termasuk kriteria baik (89,80%), dan komponen program certification termasuk kriteria baik (89,13%). Kata kunci: Evaluasi, E-learning, CSE-UCLA Evaluasi Pemanfaatan E-Learning Menggunakan Model CSE-UCLA Abstract: This study seeks to reveal the quality of e-learning utilization in terms of certain components of CSE-UCLA evaluation model, i.e.system assessment, program planning, program implementation, program improvement, dan program certification.Using qualitative approach, it used CSE-UCLA evaluation model. The research subjects were Rector, Head of the Computer Laboratory, lecture, students, and management staff of E-learning.The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, observation, and documentation. Data were analysed using quantitative descriptive method, whereas weaknesses found in the evaluation were analysed using qualitative descriptive method. The results show that the quality of e-learning use in terms of system assessment is ‘good’ (89.93%), program planning is‘good’(87.47%), program implementation is ‘good’ (88.13%), program improvement is ‘good’ (89.80%), and program certification is ‘good’ (89.13%). Abstract

The teacher certification program has been implemented since 2007, yet the society has not optimally experienced the quality improvement of secondary education in Industry 4.0. This study aims to examine vocational and senior high school teacher professionalism in the age of Industry 4.0 in developing learning. This study employed the survey method with quantitative descriptive analysis. The sample of this study was taken from two provinces in Indonesia, namely Yogyakarta Special Region and West Borneo. The data were collected from 113 vocational and senior high school teachers using random purposive sampling. The instruments used in this research were open-ended and close-ended questionnaires. The results of this study show that there is still a low number of teachers with a Master’s degree; however, teachers participate in various capacity building training programs. Moreover, the most common training programs for the teachers are on classroom action research, scientific journal publications, curriculum development, and updating teaching materials. Furthermore, it is found that the number of journal articles published by vocational and senior high school teachers in the two provinces is still low, and as a result, bottleneck problems may occur in their career promotion.

Abstract

Persistence for achievement reflected from the willingness and determination of principal to implement quality leadership will facilitate the improvement of teachers’ performance, and the two will be the determinant factors for the students’ ultimate achievement. This study aims at analyzing empirical data on the effect of instructional, transformational and spiritual leadership as independent variables, with school quality as the dependent variable. In addition, the intervening variable is teachers’ performance. This study employed the quantitative approach in which samples of 181 teachers were re taken using the proportional random sampling technique. All data were then analysed using the SEM technique with the AMOS 24 application. The findings show that: (1) there is a direct effect of instructional leadership on teachers’ performance, transformational leadership on teachers’ performance, spiritual leadership on teachers’ performance, instructional leadership on students’ achievement, transformational leadership on students’ achievement, spiritual leadership on students’ achievement, and teachers’ performance on students’ achievement. In addition, (2) there is an indirect effect of instructional leadership on students’ achievement through teachers’ performance, transformational leadership on students’ achievement through teachers’ performance and spiritual leadership on students’ achievement through teachers’ performance.

Abstract

This study produces technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK) instruments, which conventionally use print modules. The aims of this study were 1) to develop appropriate website-based TPACK instruments, and 2) to determine the effect of the produced website-based TPACK instruments toward the pedagogy competence of Science teachers in their learning preparation in the classroom. The methodology used was based on the ADDIE stages which stand for analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The results of this study include 1) instructions for producing TPACK instruments based on the results of synthesis; 2) instructions for making a website format based on the synthesis results; 3) TPACK framework design in website content; 4) TPACK instruments validation results; and 5) website validation results. Moreover, limited and field tests were conducted upon the website-based TPACK instruments to determine their effect toward the pedagogy competence of Science teachers.  Quantitatively, the TPACK instruments scored 70 out of 76, while the website scored 60 out of 90. Finally, the limited and field tests results showed that website-based TPACK instruments positively affect the pedagogy competence of Science teachers in their learning preparation in the classroom with an overall Good category and a Very Good category for the usage evaluation from the users.

Abstract

As the advances of technology bring some changes in education, technology affects teacher training institutions, especially on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that supports Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) programs for English pre-service teachers. Regarding the ICT integration in TPACK-related programs, this study was then conducted to investigate the efforts done by the universities and lecturers and issues faced by the lecturers during the integration processes. This case study was conducted in Indonesia. The participants were 79 lecturers from 25 teacher education institutions implementing TPACK-related programs. This study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-method design in which the data were collected by means of questionnaires consisting of 23 items and interviews containing 5 questions. The results revealed that in general, almost all universities had provided ICT resources, accessibilities, ICT competence development programs, and policies on ICT implementation. On the one hand, for the sake of ICT integration in TPACK related programs, the lecturers provided students with accessibilities, knowledge of ICT, and classroom regulations. However, there are problems faced by those lecturers to integrate ICT in TPACK-related programs. Thus, some possible implications of ICT integration are presented in this study.

Abstract

The performance of teachers in realizing holistic education can be observed from how the teachers prepare, implement, and evaluate the learning process or their pedagogic knowledge. This study aims to examine the teachers’ ability to plan, implement and evaluate to assess their performance in the elementary school learning process based on tenure and gender. This research is a quantitative study with direct observation, which was conducted on 162 elementary school teachers from 30 public elementary schools in Semarang, Indonesia. Data were collected using assessment sheets. The observer was the principal which belonged to the same school as the respondent. The data were then validated using Pearson's correlation based on group tenure and gender. The instrument was analyzed using structural equation modelling (SEM) and showed that the imposition of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was achieved more than a critical value of .50 which meant that the construct was valid and reliable. The understanding on teachers’ performance was indicated by teachers’ activities in preparing their class. This study found that there was no significant correlation between teachers’ performance and teaching experience or that and gender.
