Abstract

A project-based learning method is required to develop students' scientific thinking in akidah akhlak (moral theology). This study employed a phenomenological approach to investigate whether and to what extent identity processes and Islamic behavior are developing project-based learning methods for madrasah aliyah teachers of moral theology. It involved twenty moral theology teachers and in-depth interviews to reveal the narrative of teachers' practice in using project-based learning methods. Thematic analysis of twenty teachers' two-group interviews showed that teachers' personal beliefs provided a religiously motivated narrative framework that aided in interpreting one's experiences. Individual Islamic behavior, religiosity, and identity creativity play a role in developing project-based learning methods for moral theology. In addition to attributing creativity from a God-given personality to learning in moral theology, the primary bond in developing project-based learning methods is the application of Islamic principles and Islamic behavior. Following the learning of moral theology, students' identities, Islamic behavior, and scientific thinking, the use of project-based learning methods by madrasah teachers experienced a significant increase in quality. Finally, the findings of this exploratory study indicate that Islamic behavior and personal identity can enhance project-based learning methods. Large-scale research could provide more evidence to reconsider the role of religious education in teacher training as an essential factor in developing project-based learning methods for moral theology teachers.

Abstract

Several studies emphasized the importance of learning autonomy as a crucial component of persistent learning. Those studies revealed that autonomous learners are more likely to succeed in comparison to passive learners. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting learning autonomy and to examine the differences between the reported factors and academic level. The researchers developed a questionnaire after extensive research on the questionnaires used in previous studies. The data have been collected from (232) undergraduate students, who were randomly selected from the Department of English Language at King Khalid University. The results showed that learning autonomy is influenced by five internal factors (i.e., psychological aspects, learning strategies, cognitive abilities, metacognitive abilities, and critical thinking), and three external factors (i.e., the role of the teacher, the task, and the environment). The results also showed that most of the internal and external factors have no statistically significant differences attributed to academic level. The results of this study recommended that educators modify their pedagogical approaches to provide students with more choices, problem-solving, and independent learning possibilities.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study was to enhance the proficiency of professional community assistants to promote the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within rural communities in Indonesia. Utilizing qualitative methodologies encompassing observational techniques, interviews, document analysis, and focus group discussions (FGDs), the research formulated a comprehensive approach. The suggested methodology promotes self-directed learning, active involvement in professional communities, participation in training initiatives, structured communication with supervisors, attentiveness to community development matters, cooperation with local authorities, and the development of comprehensive planning materials. These tactics enable community facilitators to enhance the alignment of their duties with the objectives of the SDGs. Nevertheless, the study admits several inherent limits that arise from the intricate nature of varied community contexts, restrictions on resources, and the varying levels of engagement from local leadership. To tackle these challenges, it is imperative for future research to prioritize long-term impact assessments, thoroughly examine contextual factors that influence the effectiveness of strategies, and endeavor to quantify the influence of these strategies on the achievement of the SDGs. By doing so, research can establish a more robust basis for policy recommendations and initiatives aimed at community development.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy assumes a significant role in assisting students in resolving everyday problems. The research design utilized in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, which aims to assess students' literacy skills by categorizing them as high, moderate, or low based on various mathematical literacy indicators on the spatial facets of geometry. Research results were analyzed and sorted into categories denoting high, moderate, and low mathematical abilities, with one research subject chosen from each category from a total of 32 students. The outcomes reveal that students with high mathematical test abilities could formulate and apply appropriate formulas, interpret and effectively communicate results, and draw accurate conclusions. Students with moderate abilities were only formulating and interpreting while needing more ability to effectively communicate, provide suitable conclusions, or evaluate the problems encountered. Lastly, the low ones needed help to solve the given problems and indicators.

Abstract

In 2020, conducting education at a distance was obligatory while the world fought the coronavirus disruption. Technology utilization in distance education has demonstrated its significance in teaching English to instructors and learners. This quantitative study examines university EFL learners' perceptions regarding using second-generation Web 2.0 tools (Quizizz, Socrative, Edmodo, and Quizlet) in developing their English skills. This study was conducted with 150 students of the general English language requirement course at the University College of Applied Sciences in Gaza. The results of this study indicate that the participants appeared to have positive attitudes towards using Web 2.0 tools in general. The study results further indicate that both intermediate and low-level students reported more positive opinions about implementing the digital tools individually or altogether when compared to other advanced-level students. The participants differed significantly in terms of their perceptions of the awareness and actual usage of the Web 2.0 tools. The implications of this study indicate that these repeatedly used Web 2.0 tools as curricular tasks could be substituted or replaced with other digital tools to alleviate the oversaturation and reluctance to use digital tools by EFL learners.

Abstract

This study investigates how Jordanian EFL learners manage to learn the order of English prenominal adjectives, shedding light on learners' cognitive processes and the possible impact of their first language. It focuses on two-, three- and four-adjective sequences to identify the areas of difficulty and their sources. The authors of the present study relied on their experience. They referred to some experts in Arabic grammar to compare the students' order of English prenominal adjectives with the order of Arabic adjectives to inform the degree of their mother tongue's influence. A test based on the order of prenominal adjectives suggested by Svatko (1979) was used for data collection to achieve the study objectives. The study participants were 42 Jordanian advanced EFL undergraduate students at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University in Jordan. The study results revealed that Jordanian EFL learners encounter great difficulties in using prenominal adjectives, especially as the complexity of sequences increases. The overall percentage of correct answers across all categories is 35%. The results also showed that intralingual errors outweighed interlingual errors, scoring 77%.

Abstract

This study examines the performance of "My Horizons", a private K-11 school in Sevastopol that has been facing challenges in achieving satisfactory educational outcomes. The objective of this research is to propose anti-crisis strategic recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the organization. To achieve this goal, the authors have developed a compound methodology that combines qualitative and quantitative econometric methods as a theoretical framework for the study. The first stage of the study involves the formation of an analytical profile of the educational organization. This is accomplished through an analysis and forecast of the main performance indicators, leading to the identification of key features, main characteristics, "problem points," and competitive advantages of the school within the educational services market. In the second stage of the study, based on the results of the analysis and forecast, a set of anti-crisis strategies is formulated for the educational organization. These strategies are specifically designed to address the previously identified "problem points" according to the suggested methodology. By implementing these strategic alternatives, it is expected that the effectiveness of the troubled educational organization will be significantly improved. The findings of this study contribute to the body of knowledge on sustainable educational management practices in crises, explicitlyfocusing on the challenges private schools face. Educational organizations can utilize the proposed methodology to identify areas for improvement and develop effective strategies to overcome crises and enhance performance
