E-learning practices and the competency in assessment should facilitate one's academic performance. The main purpose of this study is to explore the degree of influence of e-learning practices and competency in assessment on academic achievement of students. This study is a quantitative approach using survey method involving the process of data collection through the administration of constructed instruments. The population of the study involves student teachers from the three selected universities in Selangor and Perak. Sample selection is drawn using random sampling technique. A total of 460 student teachers are selected. The questionnaire for e-learning practices is adapted from OLES (Renee, 2011) and the competency in assessment comes from Zahari (2018). The structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis is used to test the hypothesized relationship. The results show that e-learning practices, knowledge in assessment, skills in assessing, and attitude in assessment significantly influence students' academic achievement. E-learning practices emerge as the strongest predictor of student achievement, with a significant standardized regression coefficient of 0.39. This is followed by skills in assessing (0.27), knowledge in assessment (0.09), and lastly attitude in assessment (0.08). The core findings of the study have some implications for higher education and practice, measurement and theory development, and future research.

The environmental crisis is a real threat to human survival. Climate change, natural disasters, and food crises are some of the devastating impacts that can have a major impact on the human population. The Banda Islands have a wide water zone with diverse marine biota but face the threat of natural disasters from active volcanoes and human behaviour that is not environmentally friendly. Historically, Banda has a tradition that is very close to coastal nature. This is revealed in their traditional song known as Kabata Belang, often sung while rowing a traditional boat (Belang) in various community cultural stages. By adopting phenomenology perspectives, this research is focused on reviewing the narration of the Fiat' Kabata belang sacrament songs to seek out the implied values of environmental ethics and its urgency in handling coastal environmental problems in Banda Naira today. The results show that Kabata Belang contains both theological and ecological values (eco-theology) apart from being an instrument of traditional rituals. There are 13 stanzas in Fiat village Kabata Belang that are oriented towards maintaining several coastal natural objects, such as mountains, coasts, birds, and fish. The singing of the Kabata Belang as a traditional wisdom functions as an "advisor" for the people of Banda today to preserve the marine and coastal environment. This research recommends the importance of writing down the Kabata text, complete with pictures and articulations that are more accessible to the public as a guidebook, especially for the younger generation to understand better and participate in creative efforts to preserve the coastal and marine environment in their everyday lives.

Academic leaders in the field of English language teaching (ELT) have come to recognise the vital role of culture in ELT. However, the influence of academic leaders' cultural backgrounds on their communicative competence has not been well-researched. This research aims to investigate the cultural factors affecting communicative competence among academic leaders. Semi-structured online interviews were conducted with nine university leaders from different Iraqi universities, with the criteria being academic leaders who have been in service for more than three years. Four theories serve as its framework and direction: the theories of planned behavior, communicative competence, leadership competence, and communication competence. Interviews were transcribed and analysed using thematic analysis, following key factors such as the impact of each academic leader's cultural background on his or her communicative competence. Effective communication skills have been identified as helpful in problem-solving and developing critical skills. The recommendation is to organise training for academic leaders to use English correctly and appropriately to accomplish communication goals.

The phenomenon of international mobility has emerged as a prominent aspect of higher education internationalization worldwide. However, it is crucial to recognize that the essence of internationalization extends beyond the sheer number of international students enrolled. A pivotal focus lies in the multicultural competencies these students cultivated during their extended residence and study abroad periods. This empirical study endeavors to ascertain the genuine accomplishments of international students concerning multicultural exploration and the development of a global mindset while pursuing degrees overseas. Key considerations encompass the daily experiences of these students in communities with diverse cultures, their adaptation to academic life on campus amidst classmates and professors from various cultural backgrounds, and the evolution of their multicultural competencies and global perspectives. Through critical reflection, this paper presents a conceptual framework to enhance comprehension of multicultural competencies within the context of higher education's internationalization trends. The research methodology involved qualitative interviews conducted with international students in Taiwan, and the ensuing data underwent analysis using content analysis techniques. The findings underscore the intricate nature of multicultural competencies in higher education, encompassing multiple processes and challenges. To foster more successful international study experiences, this study advocates for collaborative efforts from host institutions and peers alongside international students' comprehensive understanding of the host country's culture.

Indigenous knowledge in Indonesia is very diverse, but some of it is threatened with extinction due to the impact of modernization on people's lifestyles. This research aims to find new methods of integrating indigenous knowledge into the curriculum for preparing prospective science teachers. The new method is targeted to become a reference for prospective science teacher education providers in Indonesia. The research uses mixed methods to find the impact of integrating indigenous knowledge in the curriculum for preparing prospective science teachers, according to the NGSS. The impact on prospective science teachers' profiles is the ability to integrate indigenous knowledge in preparing NGSS. The research targets were 15 heads of science education study programs from 15 different tertiary institutions and 20 prospective science teachers from three different study periods (one year, two years, and more than three years). The difference between study periods is considered because applying a curriculum integrating indigenous knowledge has only begun in the three classes used in this study. The research results found that the longer the study period, the more prospective teachers have the skills to integrate indigenous knowledge more clearly. The N-Gain test obtained a result of 0.5 (medium), meaning that the existing curriculum on the skills of applying science concepts to prospective science teachers about indigenous knowledge is in the medium category. Systematic integration of the curriculum for preparing prospective science teachers makes NGSS and indigenous knowledge in academic texts, courses, teaching materials, and final projects for graduation requirements.

Studies to inculcate new values for students, including foreign learners, are necessary, given the high incidence of injustice and bullying. The inculcation of these values in Indonesian language learning for foreign learners (BIPA) is closely related to the cultural learning of Indonesian people who love peace. This study aimed to reveal the discursive practice of embedding values in BIPA textbooks. The data sources were the BIPA textbook published in 2019 by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture for advanced levels. This study used Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Visual Grammar Theory (VGT) to analyze the data. This study found three categories of values related to self, social relations, and environment. Values about caring for society, the environment, and democracy dominated the BIPA textbook. The textbook ignored the discursive practice of instilling inner value. This finding significantly contributes to the authors of language textbooks for foreign learners to consider cultural values that lead to developing more comprehensive subject matter. In addition, these findings also make it clear that foreign language teachers do not teach their language but also need to emphasize learning about values that support students' communicative competence.

This research is aimed at determining the effectiveness of the modified TGfU volleyball learning model in enhancing the technical skills of male senior students at elementary schools. The research method used to test effectiveness was an experimental research method by comparing the modified TGfU volleyball learning model with traditional physical education classes typically taught by teachers at school. This research was conducted at Kepuh Elementary School with the subjects of 20 male senior students as the experimental group and Patalan Baru Elementary School using the same 20 male senior students as the control group. The instruments used were the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (AAHPER) Serving Accuracy Test and the Brumbach forearm pass wall-volley test. The application of the modified TGfU volleyball learning model shows the differences in results between the experimental group and the control. The results of the research show that here were differences between the experimental and control groups in the forearm serve (p < 0.001), overhead serve (p < 0.001), and forearm passing skills (p = 0.004), with a p-value of less than 0.05 indicating that the difference is statistically significant. The findings demonstrate that the modified TGfU volleyball learning model outperforms the traditional PE teaching method in enhancing the forearm serve, overhead serve, and forearm passing skills.

Electronic-based learning or commonly called e-learning or online learning has become an important component of learning in vocational high schools considering the need to prepare students to face future challenges. The aim of this study is to evaluate teachers' readiness for online learning, identify difficulties faced by teachers, identify the e-learning platforms used, and examine the learning methods used. The research respondents were 118 vocational-school teachers in mechanical engineering throughout Indonesia. The research instrument was a questionnaire distributed online using Google Form, and the results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study revealed that most Mechanical Engineering Vocational School teachers stated that they were not ready to implement e-learning, and the readiness of productive teachers was lower than that of adaptive teachers. The main difficulties experienced by teachers in e-learning are in the aspects of learning facilities and implementation of the learning process. The digital platform most used by teachers is social media, followed using video conferencing, and LMS is the platform that is used the least. Teachers have implemented student centered learning methods combined with teacher centered learning in online learning. Learning innovation is needed in the form of integration of methods, platforms and media that can accommodate teachers' difficulties, especially for productive subjects that require practice to form hard skills competencies
