Abstract

This paper aims to explore the process of self-actualization as a key criterion for developing psychological competence in future educators. To study and determine self-actualization as a criterion for the development of psychological competence of future teachers, a study was conducted at the theoretical and empirical levels. The Kazakh Humanitarian and Legal Innovation University students of various majors participated in the study. Teenagers must be assertive to succeed in all spheres of life, especially at school. Special attention on the part of a psychologist, parents, teachers and consultants should be paid to teenage girls when developing their confident behavior. The government should plan strategies for developing self-actualization skills for students, as there will be quite assertive young people. To eliminate possible inconsistencies noted in this and many other studies, it is essential to conduct further research on how gender affects self-confidence.

Abstract

The integration of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills into 21st-century learning represents a pivotal goal in education, particularly within the realms of engineering. Despite this ambition, the actualization of creativity and collaborative capabilities among engineering students remains a significant challenge, primarily due to prevalent individualistic attitudes and apprehensions towards error in idea sharing. This study introduces and evaluates a Knowledge Sharing (KS) learning model aimed at overcoming these barriers, thereby facilitating enhanced creativity and collaboration. Employing the Akker learning stages, this model was implemented in an engineering education setting, yielding encouraging outcomes: students demonstrated increased motivation for interdisciplinary learning, acquired novel knowledge beyond their traditional curricula, and developed practical designs and tools responsive to community needs. The methodology section details the iterative process of model development, encompassing identification, design and preparation, implementation, replication, and dissemination phases, followed by a thorough validation process. Results indicate a positive impact on students' creative competencies and collaborative skills, underscoring the model's efficacy in fostering essential 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the e-leadership capacity of school principals and change readiness in dealing with the disruption of learning innovations to implement independent learning policies. This research was conducted using an ex post facto approach with a correlational study. The respondents were teachers (N=300) from 30 junior high schools in Sumatra Barat Province, Indonesia. The data were then analyzed using SEM Smart PLS. The analysis of the relationships between the variables was determined by referring to the original sample value and the T-statistic outputs from Smart PLS. The significant value of the path was determined using testing criteria with a significant value of (α) 5% and a T-statistic standard < 1.96. The results show that every relationship formed has a positive and significant relationship. It can be concluded that the e-leadership capacity variable has a positive and significant impact on readiness for change, learning innovation disruption, and Merdeka Belajar policy, as well as their indicators. This research recommends that school principals and school management teams increase e-leadership capacity so that the readiness of every element in the school to face changes is better. Thus, the disruption of learning innovation that continues to develop can be accommodated with good capacity from institutions and individuals. In this context, the Merdeka Belajar policy as an educational innovation in Indonesia can be implemented optimally.

Abstract

Criticism of exams can be used to gauge student achievement for graduation. This study examined the quality of Summative Tests (ST) created by senior high school teachers in Palembang, Indonesia, specifically focusing on the Islamic Education subject. The evaluation criteria included item validity, reliability, discrimination index, and disruptive effectiveness. The analysis involved 800 answer sheets from 20 teachers. Results indicated that while 20 teachers achieved high reliability, two struggled with poor reliability in terms of disruptive effectiveness. Respondent 11 faced challenges with only 28% valid items and a moderate Cronbach's Alpha. Additionally, the disruptive effectiveness and discrimination index were poor. These findings suggest a need for teacher training to enhance skills in crafting and administering high-quality summative tests. The implications of these findings extend to improving teacher training and ensuring the effectiveness of summative assessments in gauging student achievements for graduation. The research contributes valuable insights into the complexities of teacher-created exams and offers a basis for enhancing the overall quality of education assessment practices.

Abstract

Climate change demands urgent attention from both teachers and students. As pivotal agents of change, preservice teachers play a crucial role in shaping a generation that values and conserves the environment. This study investigated how academic background (mathematics/science vs. non-mathematics/science) influences preservice teachers' attitudes toward climate change and their value orientations. The study included 287 mathematics/science and 182 non-mathematics/science preservice teachers who completed a 50-item questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the gathered data. The findings indicated that academic background did not significantly influence preservice teachers' value orientations or attitudes toward climate change. This suggests the presence of other influential factors not examined in this study. Given these results, adopting a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to environmental education is imperative. Such an approach can better equip preservice teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively engage students in understanding and addressing climate change. Further research should focus on identifying these additional influencing factors. This will enable educators to refine environmental education strategies, fostering a future generation that values and actively contributes to environmental stewardship.

Abstract

This paper explores the role of the digital literacy of Indonesian educators in their competence regarding online course design, in a Distance Education context, at tertiary level. It focuses on the competence of lecturers regarding digital literacy, and self-perceived ability in designing online courses. Lecturers (n = 275) at both public and private universities in Indonesia participated in this study. The developed instrument, measuring seven elements of digital literacy competence, in a teaching and pedagogical framework (Payton and Hague 2010), and six components of effective course design, aimed at achieving desired learning outcomes for students, was adopted from that of Brown and Voltz (2005). The result of Pearson's correlation testing indicated a strong relationship between two variables r (275) = .765, p < .001. The findings also showed that the digital literacy competence of educators had an influence of 58.6% on the quality of online course design, with a significant impact (F(1)=386.358; p=.000). It may therefore be concluded that it is important to upscale the digital literacy competence of lecturers, to promote the quality of online course design, in order to achieve desired learning outcomes. Further studies should particularly consider measuring the impact of online course design on the quality assurance of the course.

Abstract

The study aims to identify challenges teachers and students face in this process at an Islamic bilingual middle boarding school in Aceh, Indonesia. The participants included 27 boarding school students, one English teacher, and one Arabic teacher. The collected data underwent analysis using the interactive analysis model, which involves data reduction, display, and verification. The analysis focuses on specific activities within five categories: (1) mufradat (vocabulary), (2) controlling language use, (3) muhadasah (conversational activities), (4) competition, and (5) cooperation. The findings revealed that not all specified activities were consistently carried out, with each category featuring three implemented activities: daily vocabulary memorization, language festivals, and the application of punishments. The interviews brought forth challenges such as teachers' language proficiency limitations, students' low motivation, and a tendency to use the Indonesian language when unsupervised. These insights provide valuable guidance for similar boarding institutions that implement comparable language programs.
