Abstract

The Trans Radial Band (TR Band) is a compression method applied to the radial artery following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Prolonged TR Band removal duration may increase the risk of complications, while premature removal can lead to bleeding. This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various modified TR Band application techniques in enhancing hemostasis and preventing vascular complications after transradial PCI. The study followed PRISMA guidelines, with literature searches conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using specific keywords related to TR Band and its modifications. The results show that several modification techniques—including the use of rollers, slow deflation protocols, dual TR Band application, and hemostatic patches made from chitosan and potassium ferrate—generally improve hemostatic effectiveness, reduce hematoma incidence, and enhance patient comfort. However, limitations such as small sample sizes and the lack of long-term data remain challenges. Conclusion: Modified TR Band techniques are considered safe and effective, but larger-scale studies are still needed.

Abstract

The competence of health workers is obtained from passing the competency test taken by each health student. The failure to achieve the target for passing the competency test needs to be given more attention because it is related to the quality of graduates of a university. One of the ways to increase graduation is by providing assistance with special knowledge related to competency tests. This study aims to see the effect of providing nutrition competency test mentoring to nutrition students on competency test knowledge. This is an experimental study with a pre-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest) which was carried out by providing competency test assistance 3 times to respondents which was carried out in August 2024. Data processing was carried out using a paired sample t-test statistical test. There is an effect of providing competency test assistance on knowledge of the Nutrition competency test in D-III Nutrition students at the Ministry of Health, Padang Health Polytechnic (P = 0.000).

Abstract

Stigma is a negative label attached to an individual by society and influenced by the surrounding environment. In reality, individuals with mental disorders often experience greater stigma and discrimination from the community compared to those suffering from other medical illnesses. Ideally, the community should serve as a support system for people with mental disorders. This study aims to determine the influence of stigma on community attitudes toward individuals with mental disorders in Juli Seupeng Village, Juli Subdistrict, Bireuen Regency. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 46 respondents, selected using purposive sampling. The study was conducted in Gampong Krueng July from August 10 to August 15. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents had a high level of stigma (32 respondents or 69.6%), and most community attitudes were categorized as negative (38 respondents or 82.6%). The bivariate analysis revealed a p-value of 0.016, which is less than the significance level of 0.05 (ρ = 0.016 < α = 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between stigma and community attitudes toward individuals with mental disorders. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It is recommended that communities change their mindset and perspectives, as negative attitudes can trigger relapses in people with mental disorders.

Abstract

High-risk pregnancy is one of the leading causes of increased maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. Pregnant women's knowledge of healthy pregnancy and danger signs plays a crucial role in preventing and reducing these risks. This study aims to determine the effect of pregnant women's knowledge level on high-risk pregnancy at the Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (PONEK) unit of Cut Meutia General Hospital. This research employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 46 pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and medical record observations. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most pregnant women with low knowledge experienced high-risk pregnancies (75%). The Chi-Square test revealed a significant relationship between knowledge level and the incidence of high-risk pregnancy (p = 0.001). Thus, there is a significant effect of pregnant women's knowledge level on the risk of high-risk pregnancy. Continuous educational efforts by health professionals are needed to improve maternal knowledge and reduce the incidence of high-risk pregnancies.

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the common psychological responses experienced by parents when their children are hospitalized. This condition does not only last during hospitalization, but can also continue after the child is discharged, especially in preschool children who are still very emotionally dependent on their parents (Potts & Mandleco, 2012). The post-hospitalization period is a vulnerable time for parents because of concerns about the possibility of recurrence of the disease, complications, and limited knowledge in caring for children at home. This study aims to determine the Factors that Influence the Anxiety of Parents of Preschool Children After Hospitalization. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study method. The results showed that most respondents were in the young adult category as many as 53 people (45.7%), respondents had incomes in the middle category as many as 54 people (46.6%), respondents with health factors were in the low category as many as 62 people (53.4%). Health factors in this context include knowledge, awareness, and behavior of parents towards promotive and preventive efforts in maintaining children's health before and after hospitalization. It is recommended that hospitals provide home visits or follow-up services via telephone/teleconsultation to monitor the child's condition while providing psychosocial support for parents

Abstract

Caffeine is a commonly consumed stimulant known for its ability to enhance alertness and cognitive performance. One of its most extensively studied effects is its potential to reduce reaction time. However, existing research presents inconsistent findings regarding the effectiveness and duration of caffeine’s impact on cognitive speed. This study aimed to examine the effect of caffeine consumption on reaction time among medical students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Tarumanagara (FK UNTAR). A quasi-experimental design was employed using a comparative pre-test/post-test approach. The sample was selected through non-random consecutive sampling, without stratification. Inclusion criteria included being an academically active student in good physical and mental health.Reaction time was measured using the Ruler Drop Test before caffeine intake, and again at 15 and 30 minutes post-consumption. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests to assess within-group differences and independent t-tests to compare between groups. The results indicated a statistically significant reduction in reaction time following caffeine consumption (p < 0.05). The average reaction time before caffeine intake was 0.202 seconds, decreasing to 0.184 seconds at 15 minutes and 0.163 seconds at 30 minutes post-consumption. These findings suggest that the effect of caffeine on reaction time is most pronounced within 15–30 minutes after ingestion.

Abstract

Gestational diabetes mellitus is a condition of hyperglycemia in pregnant women caused by insulin resistance influenced by hormones produced by the placenta, such as placental lactogen. This can have adverse effects on the condition of pregnant women, leading to preeclampsia, as well as causing macrosomia and hypoglycemia in the fetus. The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus has increased by 10% among pregnant women, particularly in East Asia and Southeast Asia, where it stands at 10.1% and is more commonly found in low- and middle-income populations compared to high-income populations. Previous studies have examined the management of gestational diabetes through early screening and insulin therapy to normalize blood sugar levels in the body. This article discusses the management of gestational diabetes mellitus using complementary therapy to provide a better prognosis for the well-being of the mother and fetus without replacing the primary treatment prescribed by the doctor. This article used a literature review method to conceptualize and identify literature gaps in complementary therapy for managing gestational diabetes mellitus. Based on the results of the literature review, complementary therapy administered to pregnant women with diabetes mellitus can suppress the release of cortisol, a hormone with anti-insulin, leading to hyperglycemia in pregnant women. Further research is needed to develop a holistic approach in the care of pregnant women with GDM to prevent complications for both the mother and the fetus.

Abstract

Stunting and undernutrition remain serious public health issues among under-five children, particularly in developing countries. Community-based nutrition interventions are considered effective in integrating both specific and sensitive approaches to address these challenges. This study aims to review the effectiveness of various community-based nutrition interventions in preventing stunting and undernutrition among under-five children. A narrative review approach was employed to analyze six peer-reviewed articles published in the last five years (2021–2025), selected from PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar using relevant keywords and inclusion criteria. The findings demonstrate that community-based nutrition interventions positively impact stunting reduction and improve child nutritional status. The most effective interventions included family-based nutrition education, growth monitoring, supplementary feeding, lipid-based nutrient supplementation, and innovative programs such as child-owned poultry. Active community participation, engagement of health cadres, and multi-sectoral collaboration were critical to the success of the programs. Community-based nutrition interventions are effective strategies to improve child nutrition and prevent stunting, particularly when implemented participatively and sustainably. These findings provide a basis for community nursing practices and the formulation of contextually appropriate and impactful nutrition policies.

Abstract

Antioxidants are substances that can provide protection against endogenous and exogenous oxidative stress by capturing free radicals. Antioxidants are molecules that can inhibit the oxidation of other molecules. Antioxidants are generally phenolic or flavonoid compounds that are spread throughout the medicinal plant parts, including rosela and basil. Roselle petals contain anthocyanins that act as antioxidants by reducing free radicals that attack body molecules. Flavonoids from basil leaves have antioxidant effects by scavenging free radicals. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of a combination of rosela flower extract and basil leaf extract. The stages of the research method include 500 g of roselle flowers and basil leaves each extracted using 70% ethanol by maceration method and the combination of roselle flower extract and basil leaf extract was tested for antioxidant activity in vitro using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazine (DPPH) receptor. The results showed that the yield of roselle flower extract was 13.28% and basil leaf extract was 12.52%. The results of the in vitro antioxidant activity test showed that the combination of roselle flower and basil leaf extracts with a ratio of 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1 had strong antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 70.33 µg/ml, 56.92 µg/ml, and 57.90 µg/ml, respectively.
