Abstract

Healthcare services are one of the fundamental aspects of improving public welfare. In Indonesia's healthcare system, the Social Security Administration Agency (BPJS Health) plays a crucial role in ensuring equal access to healthcare services for all citizens through the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. This study aims to analyze the relationship between service quality and patient satisfaction among BPJS Health users at RSUD Haji Makassar. This research employs a quantitative method with a survey approach, where data were collected using questionnaires distributed to BPJS Health patients receiving treatment at RSUD Haji Makassar. A total sample of 118 respondents was determined using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression tests through SPSS 23 software. The results indicate a positive and significant relationship between service quality and patient satisfaction, with a regression coefficient value of 0.471. This finding suggests that the better the service quality provided by the hospital, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. Additionally, the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 36.5% indicates that service quality contributes to patient satisfaction, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Based on these findings, it is recommended that RSUD Haji Makassar improve service timeliness, enhance the BPJS administration system, and strengthen the quality of interaction between medical personnel and patients.

Abstract

Enzymes are protein biomolecules that act as catalysts in various biochemical reactions, both in biological systems and industrial applications. The uniqueness of enzymes lies in their ability to accelerate the rate of reactions with a high degree of specificity towards certain substrates without undergoing permanent changes in their chemical structure. Enzyme activity is strongly influenced by various environmental factors, such as temperature, pH, substrate concentration, and the presence of inhibitors or activators. Therefore, quantitative testing of enzyme activity is an important step in understanding the characteristics of enzymes and their applications in various fields. Escherichia coli produces Extended-Spectrum Β-Lactamase Enzyme (ESBL) and plays a role in damaging the structure of beta lactam antibiotics so that the antibiotics cannot kill bacteria. Bacteria that produce ESBLs need to be watched out for because ESBLs are produced by genes located on plasmids, which can easily be transferred to other bacteria, and often also carry resistance genes to other antibiotics. Objective: to accurately measure the activity or concentration of enzymes in samples of Escherichia coli bacteria and understand the influence of variables such as substrate concentration on the reaction rate. Method: spectrophotometry through enzyme extraction, making a standard curve and testing enzyme activity against variations in substrate concentration. Results: samples with concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3 showed good and appropriate absorbance results. However, in the sample 0.5 ; 0.7 ; and 1.0 indicates an absorbance number that is slightly higher than it should be. Conclusion: the enzyme in Escherichia coli bacteria has good activity at sample concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3.

Abstract

In 2023, WHO states one-third of individuals aged 30-79 have hypertension, only 42% receive treatment, and few of just 20% that receive it are controlled. Indonesia’s 2020-2022 Health Profile shows an annual increase of catastrophic disease burdened by the National Health Insurance (NHI), particularly for outpatient and inpatient advanced-level care. NHI’s Statistics of 2020-2021 reports increased utilization of healthcare services for hypertension-related visits from 2020 to 2021. This condition may cause an increase of economic burden to the healthcare system and pose financial risk for its participants. This study examines factors influencing the direct costs of hypertension-related visits among NHI participants at an advanced level. This study uses an analytical observational quantitative approach with a cohort design, utilizing the 2023 BPJS Kesehatan Sample Data. The total sampling method resulted in a total of 26.776 participants and 102.748 visits that were analyzed, with weighted results representing 2.207.606 participants and 8.583.700 visits. Data analysis included univariate, bivariate (simple logistic regression), and multivariate (multiple logistic regression) methods. Significant factors (p-value<0.05) affecting outpatient costs include age, regional type, administrative status, health facility ownership, and health facility type. Inpatient costs are influenced (p-value<0,05) by gender, regional type, class entitlement, health facility ownership, health facility type, comorbidities, length of stay, and severity. The study recommends evaluating advanced level healthcare tariff policies to minimize economic disparities in healthcare access across Indonesia.

Abstract

Obesity is a problem in various parts of the world where its prevalence is increasing rapidly, both in developed and developing countries. It is estimated that there are 1.5 billion people in the world experiencing being overweight and obese. Obesity can occur because there is an imbalance between the energy from the incoming food greater than the energy used by the body. This study is aimed to determine the best anthropometric index to predict abnormalities in biomedical examination (inflammation and lipid profile) in adulthood in urban areas of Indonesia. The study was a cross-sectional study. The data were taken from Health Research (Riskesdas). The population in this study were those age 20-59 years both sexes. The analysis conducted in this study are univariate, bivariate, ROC analysis, and logistic regression analysis. The results indicate that in general obesity and central obesity increases with age, with the highest prevalence was in the 40-59 year age. In adults, cut-off point value based on BMI and waist circumference to predict cardiovascular disease risk in Indonesian society is lower than the WHO recommendation.

Abstract

This literature study examines the relationship between blood flow velocity (Qb) and the achievement of Urea Reduction Ratio (URR) values in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing hemodialysis. The main objective of this review is to identify and analyze findings from various studies related to this topic. The research method used is a systematic literature review, with article searches through the ResearchGate, Proquest, and Google Scholar databases using specific keywords. Of the 310 initial articles, 10 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were further analyzed. The results of the analysis of the 10 articles showed a variety of findings regarding the relationship between Qb and URR. Three studies showed a significant relationship between increasing Qb with increasing URR and hemodialysis effectiveness. Meanwhile, two other studies found no significant relationship between Qb and hemodialysis adequacy, emphasizing the role of other factors such as vascular access patency, body weight, and dialysis characteristics. Other studies also highlighted the influence of dialysis filter type and hemodialysis time on adequacy. The conclusion of this literature review is that there is an indication of a positive relationship between blood flow velocity and achievement of hemodialysis adequacy as measured by URR in CKD patients. However, this relationship is influenced by various other factors. The implication of this review is the need for holistic consideration of patient and technical factors in determining Qb settings to achieve optimal dialysis adequacy. Further research is needed to identify more specific and personalized guidelines in Qb settings to improve hemodialysis outcomes in CKD patients

Abstract

Low birth weight babies (LBW) are babies who weigh <2500 grams regardless of gestational age or gestation period. Gestational hypertension can continue into labor which will cause fetal growth disorders that will affect the baby's birth weight so that mothers who have high blood pressure have a higher risk of giving birth to low birth weight babies. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between gestational hypertension and the incidence of low birth weight at Harapan Bunda Hospital, Batam City. Methods: This study is a quantitative study with an observational analytic approach using a Case Control design with a retrospective approach. The population in this study were all babies born at Harapan Bunda Hospital Batam. The number of samples taken was 30 babies and used purposive sampling technique using a Checklist sheet. Data analysis using chi-square test. From the statistical results using the Chi Square statistical test with a meaning value of a=0.05, the p value = 0.027 means that there is a relationship between gestational hypertension and the incidence of low birth weight and the magnitude of the Odds Ratio (OR) value is 2.333, meaning that mothers who have a history of gestational hypertension or who experience hypertension during pregnancy have a 2.333 times greater chance of giving birth to babies with low birth weight.

Abstract

Neonatal asphyxia is a critical condition and one of the leading causes of neonatal mortality, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. This condition is marked by impaired oxygen exchange, leading to hypoxemia, hypercapnia, and metabolic acidosis. Prompt and appropriate management is essential, including the use of non-pharmacological interventions such as Qur’anic murottal therapy. Surah Ar-Rahman is often chosen for its soft and soothing rhythm, which is believed to have a calming physiological effect on infants. This study used a case study design with an interventional approach involving one infant diagnosed with severe asphyxia treated in the NICU of RSUD Tjitrowardoyo Purworejo. The intervention involved playing a recitation of Surah Ar-Rahman for 15–30 minutes daily over five consecutive days. Vital signs monitored included oxygen saturation, heart rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature. Results showed an increase in oxygen saturation from 87% to 100%, a decrease in heart rate from an average of 137 to 127.4 bpm, a reduction in respiratory rate from 53.6 to 44.8 breaths/minute, and a slight temperature decrease from 37.36°C to 37.3°C. These findings suggest that Qur’anic murottal therapy, particularly Surah Ar-Rahman, can contribute to the stabilization of vital signs in neonates with severe asphyxia. This therapy may serve as a supportive intervention in neonatal nursing care and is recommended for use both in clinical settings and at home.

Abstract

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia had made measured progress in addressing its tuberculosis (TB) burden through national strategies such as DOTS and integration into the universal health coverage (UHC) system. However, the pandemic caused substantial disruption to TB control efforts, including declines in case detection, treatment coverage, and continuity of care. This literature review analyzed eight peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025, selected from the Google Scholar database, to assess post-pandemic TB control strategies and challenges in Indonesia. The findings indicate that digital platforms were increasingly utilized for TB screening, monitoring, and reporting, while community-based education and expanded partnerships with private providers were promoted to maintain service continuity. Despite these adaptations, challenges such as limited infrastructure, inadequate digital literacy, constrained resources, and persistent stigma remain significant barriers. Strengthening the health system’s capacity, improving policy coherence between TB programs and insurance schemes, and sustaining innovation through multisectoral collaboration are essential to rebuilding TB services and advancing toward national and global TB elimination goals.
