Abstract

This study aims to analyze the workload of nurses in the inpatient installation at Pekerja General Hospital, North Jakarta, using the Workload Indicator of Staffing Need (WISN) method. The main objective is to assess whether the number of implementing nurses aligns with the standards set by the Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 340/MENKES/PER/III/2010 and to provide input regarding the ideal staffing needs for nursing services. This research applies a descriptive quantitative approach with bivariate analysis. The study sample consisted of 68 respondents, encompassing all nurses in the inpatient unit, using probability sampling techniques. Data collection was conducted through work sampling techniques and calculations based on the WISN method. The findings indicate that out of 117 beds, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) ranges from 72.6% to 82.6%, which remains within the normal limit (maximum BOR >85%). The majority of respondents were female (85.2%) and had over one year of working experience. Based on the workload calculation using the WISN method, the hospital is still short of two nurses to meet optimal service requirements. The shortage of nursing staff, although small, has the potential to impact the quality of care, nurse performance, and patient satisfaction. This situation highlights the importance of accurate workload assessment and proper human resource allocation in hospital settings. Nurse managers and hospital administrators are encouraged to use the WISN method regularly as a decision-making tool for staffing adjustments. This study suggests that future research should incorporate additional variables, such as nurse satisfaction, patient acuity levels, and turnover rates, to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of staffing needs. The findings are expected to contribute to nursing human resource planning and management, especially in optimizing nurse-to-patient ratios for better healthcare delivery outcomes.

Abstract

Socio-cultural transformations brought about by globalization have had a profound impact on various aspects of human life, including public health behavior, where Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) serves as a crucial indicator in promotive and preventive health efforts. The working area of the Tenga Community Health Center provides a unique context for examining how these socio-cultural changes affect community health practices. This study aimed to analyze the influence of socio-cultural changes on PHBS within this community. Employing a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, the research involved 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling, using a questionnaire that was previously validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis utilized the Chi-Square test and simple logistic regression to assess relationships between socio-cultural variables and PHBS practices. Results indicated that new cultural values (p = 0.013), the role of social media (p = 0.004), and shifts in patterns of social interaction (p = 0.031) significantly influenced PHBS practices, whereas traditional customs (p = 0.076) were not found to have a meaningful effect. These findings underscore that socio-cultural changes substantially shape clean and healthy living behaviors in the community. The study highlights the importance of developing health promotion strategies that are not only scientifically sound but also culturally adaptive, taking into account both emerging global influences and the evolving dynamics of local society. By aligning health promotion efforts with socio-cultural realities, policymakers and health workers can foster more effective interventions to strengthen public awareness and adherence to PHBS. Ultimately, the research suggests that a culturally responsive and context-sensitive approach is essential in sustaining improvements in community health behavior amidst the rapid social and cultural transformations driven by globalization.

Abstract

The nutritional health status of adolescent girls is a picture of the physical well-being of women due to the fulfillment of nutritional needs in the body. Adolescent nutrition can affect reproductive health to prepare for reproduction from preconception, pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Stunting prevention efforts can be done by optimizing nutrition & child health from pregnancy to the age of 2 years. Therefore, the readiness of adolescent girls to undergo the pregnancy process later so as not to give birth to stunted children needs to be questioned. The knowledge of adolescent girls is very influential in the action of preparing for pregnancy in order to prevent stunting. To avoid the occurrence of KEK and BMI underweight category, it is expected that adolescent girls prepare themselves by fulfilling nutritional needs in the body. Thus, adolescent girls must understand and pay attention to the daily food intake consumed that contains nutrients so that nutritional needs in the body can be met. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of the relationship between knowledge of balanced nutrition and the nutritional status of adolescent girls at SMA N 1 Moyo Utara. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were adolescent girls at SMA N 1 Moyo Utara. The sampling technique was Accidental sampling. Abstract

One of the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the reduction of the Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) by 2030. The highest mortality rate in newborns occurs within the first 24 hours after birth, which is often caused by inadequate newborn care. Health education is an important effort to address this problem. The selection of appropriate health education media plays a significant role in increasing maternal knowledge. One of the effective media is the simulation method, which presents real-life situations using props, enabling mothers to practice and understand newborn care in a more tangible way. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the simulation method in increasing maternal knowledge about newborn care at Bandung City Hospital. The research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach. Data were collected using a newborn care knowledge questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. Univariate data analysis was conducted using percentages, while bivariate analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings showed that, in the pre-test stage, less than half of the respondents (46.7% or 14 mothers) had sufficient knowledge, while the rest had low knowledge levels. After the intervention, the post-test results indicated that the majority (90% or 27 mothers) had good knowledge. Bivariate analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001, indicating a statistically significant improvement in knowledge after the simulation-based health education. In conclusion, the simulation method proved to be effective in increasing postpartum mothers’ knowledge of newborn care. The findings suggest that health facilities should consider integrating simulation-based education into maternal and neonatal health programs to support the achievement of SDG targets related to reducing neonatal mortality.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment, especially in high-risk sectors like healthcare, where workplace accidents and disease exposure are common. This study aims to assess the implementation of OSH at Hospital X in Bandung City by analyzing its occupational safety management system according to Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012, with a focus on Indicator 6, which pertains to Work Safety Standards under the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3). The research method used a qualitative approach supported by quantitative data, with data collection through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The respondents included OSH management staff and hospital visitors. The study’s findings indicate that the overall implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) at Hospital X is categorized as good. This suggests that the hospital's risk control procedures are generally effective in minimizing potential workplace hazards. The hospital management’s perception of the OHS Management System (SMK3) implementation was positive, reflecting their commitment to ensuring a safe work environment. However, the assessment from visitors regarding the OSH implementation fell into the fairly good category, indicating room for improvement in certain areas, especially in terms of visitor awareness and involvement in the hospital’s safety measures. The results highlight the importance of continuous evaluation and improvement in implementing OHS standards, particularly in high-risk settings such as hospitals. Strengthening visitor education and engagement in OHS practices could further enhance the overall safety culture at the hospital. This study contributes valuable insights for improving OSH management systems and risk control strategies, ultimately aiming for a safer and healthier work environment for both hospital staff and visitors.

Abstract

Sanitation issues are critical and need to be addressed by all parties, as they are closely linked to public health. Sanitation refers to efforts aimed at preventing disease by eliminating or controlling environmental factors that contribute to disease transmission. One of the public service facilities that must organize proper sanitation is the public market. This study aims to evaluate the environmental sanitation of Sentral Laino Market in Raha City. The research utilizes a quantitative descriptive analysis method to assess various parameters of the market’s sanitation. A total of 14 parameters were measured based on the Regulation of the Indonesian Minister of Health No. 17 of 2020. The parameters and their respective values are as follows: Market Building (75%), Stall Building (63%), Waste Disposal (60%), Sewage and Drainage (57%), Toilets (88%), Clean Water (83%), Food and Foodstuff Sales Places (57%), Control of Disease Transmitting Animals (33%), Market Security (50%), Lighting, Temperature and Humidity (100%), Hand Washing Places (50%), Parking Places (75%), Traders/Employees (40%), and Visitors/Buyers (25%). Among the 14 components assessed, 5 components met the required standards, while 9 components did not meet the eligibility criteria. The overall category value, based on the “yes” answers from all the components, totaled 56 points (60%). According to the Regulation of the Indonesian Minister of Health No. 17 of 2020 concerning Healthy Markets, a market is considered eligible if the total score reaches ≥70%. Therefore, the Sentral Laino Market does not meet the standards for a healthy market. This study highlights the need for significant improvements in various aspects of the market’s sanitation to ensure public health and safety. It is crucial for local authorities and stakeholders to address these sanitation challenges to create a healthier environment for both traders and consumers.
