Abstract

This study aims to examine the practice of two marriage contracts for illegitimate daughters in Deli Serdang Regency from the perspective of mashlahah. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method through interviews, observations, and documentation. The study results indicate that the first contract carried out by the guardian judge is legally valid under Islamic law because it fulfills the pillars and requirements of marriage. In contrast, the second contract carried out by the biological father is only symbolic and has no legal force. Implementing the second contract is intended to maintain the honor of the family and cover up past disgrace, so it is seen as a form of mashlahah mursalah that is tolerated as long as it does not conflict with the basic principles of sharia. Therefore, this phenomenon reflects a social need that demands a wise, contextual, and community-oriented Islamic legal approach

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Jam’iyyah Mudarasatil Qur’an Lil Ḥāfiẓāt (JMQH) program in enhancing motivation and the quality of Qur’anic memorization among female memorizers (ḥāfiẓāt) in Jombang District. A qualitative research approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving JMQH administrators and active members. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and technique triangulation to ensure data credibility. The findings indicate that the JMQH program is implemented through well-structured routine activities, including monthly mudarasah, tartil-based recitation, peer listening (simāʿ), and spiritual development sessions conducted alternately at members’ residences. The program significantly enhances members’ motivation by fostering peer support, collective commitment, and a supportive religious environment. Furthermore, improvements in memorization quality are evident in increased fluency, accuracy, and adherence to tajwīd rules. Key supporting factors include strong religious awareness, a sense of community belonging, and a positive social environment, while inhibiting factors involve domestic responsibilities and initial feelings of insecurity. This study concludes that community-based religious organizations such as JMQH play a vital role in sustaining Qur’anic memorization among adult female memorizers beyond formal educational institutions

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perception of Islamic Religious Education students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra towards the use of Artificial Intelligence as a learning resource. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological type. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. Furthermore, the data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model combined with ATLAS.ti software. The results of this study indicate that; 1) The information provided by Artificial Intelligence is not completely accurate because there are deficiencies in the depth of explanation and the references listed are not completely valid; 2) AI provides ease of access and use in the learning process; 3) The use of AI is considered efficient in terms of time and cost; and 4) Student ethics in using Artificial Intelligence as a learning resource is not yet entirely good, although it shows a positive direction and growing ethical awareness. This study suggests that in the future, Artificial Intelligence developers need to connect Artificial Intelligence systems with scientific repositories, and that their use must be accompanied by strengthening digital literacy and critical attitudes from users.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of political literacy and the views of Generation Z in Medan City on the issues of identity politics and radicalism. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the majority of Generation Z has limited political understanding and tends to follow the flow of public opinion, especially through social media. Although they generally reject the practice of identity politics and radicalism, this rejection is more emotional than based on deep conceptual understanding. The low level of political literacy and critical awareness is a challenge in forming a participatory and democratically resilient young generation. Therefore, increasing political literacy, anti-radicalism education, and understanding of diversity need to be instilled through formal education, digital literacy campaigns, and strengthening national values. This study recommends multi-sector collaboration to build a Generation Z that is politically aware, inclusive, and resilient to extreme ideologies

Abstract

This study aims to examine the performance of Islamic Religious Counselors in fostering a harmonious family for converts in Deli Serdang Regency from the perspective of maqashid al-syariah. The method in this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach; data is collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of religious counselors, religious affairs offices, and converts who are being fostered. The results of the study show that religious instructors not only carry out their role as preachers, but also as managers of coaching programs that include planning, organizing, mobilizing, and supervising functions. The coaching process is carried out formally and informally through lectures, interpersonal sharing, digital media, and home visits, with materials that emphasize the importance of family resilience, religious understanding, and moral values. All these efforts reflect the implementation of the values ??of maqashid al-syariah, especially in maintaining religion (hifz al-din), soul (hifz al-nafs), reason (hifz al-‘aql), descendants (hifz al-nasl), and property (hifz al-mal), so that development is not only ceremonial but becomes a process of spiritual and social transformation towards a peaceful family based on Islamic law.

Abstract

This research is based on several problems, including women often being the subject of debate in aspects of worship. Although the Qur'an places men and women in equal positions and opportunities, several hadiths in their words seem to give women a lower position than men. One of the focuses of this research is related to differences in views regarding the law of attending Friday prayers for women, especially in the context of Muhammadiyah fatwas. This problem is related to the basic principles in Islamic jurisprudence regarding the legal status of worship and the existence of evidence that is used as a basis for determining its permissibility or obligation. This research is a qualitative research using a library research approach whose primary data refers to the Muhammadiyah Tarjih Decision Collection as the main reference in understanding Muhammadiyah ijtihad, the hadith narrated by Sunan Abu Dawud Index Number 106 as the main object of study in determining the law of Friday prayers for women, and books of hadith (Kutubut Tis'ah). The final results obtained from this research are, first, the hadith narrated by Abu Dawud, index number 1067. If it is linked to the Muhammadiyah rules in the process of interpreting and understanding hadiths, then the above hadith is classified as rule 6, namely the mursal sahabi hadith can be used as hujjah if there is a qarinah that shows a connection. Second, the results of the interview and the findings of the principles of Muhammadiyah's openness, they view that the issue of Friday prayers for women is not obligatory as stated in the hadith in the book of Sunan Abu Dawud, index number 1067 in the Muhammadiyah fatwa that the hadith is a form of rukhsah given by Allah SWT. Third, in general, all major Islamic mass organizations in Indonesia agree that Friday prayers are not obligatory for women.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the Critical Thinking Skills of Grade IV Students of SDN 2 Talise through Classroom Action Research (CAR). CAR is a research method deliberately conducted in classroom settings to enhance learning quality. The research follows Kemmis and McTaggart's model, comprising four stages: Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. Conducted at SDN 2 Talise during the 2024/2025 academic year, this study involved 17 grade IV students as research subjects. Data collection employed both non-test and test techniques. Non-test methods included interviews, observations, and documentation, while test data was gathered through essay assessments evaluating students' critical thinking skills in social studies material. The study implemented Problem-Based Learning (PBL) assisted by audio-visual media. Results demonstrated progressive improvement across cycles. In Pre-Action, classical learning completion achieved 25%. Cycle I showed improvement to 30.76%, representing a 5.76% increase. Most significantly, Cycle II demonstrated substantial progress with 89.41% classical learning completion, indicating a remarkable 58.65% improvement from Cycle I. These findings reveal that PBL implementation with audio-visual support effectively enhances students' critical thinking abilities. The dramatic improvement from 25% to 89.41% completion rates across the research cycles demonstrates the model's effectiveness. The progressive enhancement pattern confirms that structured problem-based approaches, when properly implemented with multimedia support, can significantly develop elementary students' critical thinking skills in social studies education. Therefore, the Problem-Based Learning model proves successful in improving Grade IV students' critical thinking skills at SDN 2 Talise.
