Historiography means the writing of history based on the critical examination of sources, the selection of particular details from the authentic materials in those sources, and the synthesis of those details into a narrative that stands the test of critical examination. Historiography studies cover chronologically various themes, such as local history, social history, cultural history, economic history, political history, military history, intellectual history, environmental history, and other historical studies. History of education is a study of the past that focuses on educational issues. These include education systems, institutions, theories, themes and other related phenomena in the past. History education includes studies of how history teaches in school or society, curriculum, educational values in events, figures, and historical heritage, media and sources of historical learning, history teachers, and studies of textbooks.

Abstract

Historical learning will be more meaningful if learners by doing education in the museum. The problem of this research is how to use museums and cultural reserves in Pontianak. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of museums and cultural reserves and their suitability in materials in historical subjects. The method used is qualitative descriptive through literature studies related to the chosen topic. The results of the research are first, the museum can add insight into the knowledge and journey of the nation, the love of the homeland, and the patriotism of learners. Musuem and cultural heritage as alternative learning resources, offsetting the limitations of learning in the classroom. Both can open the horizons of learners to see and live life and historical relics in the past for real. Second, budata museums and reserves in Pontianak that can be used as sources of historical learning include the West Kalimantan Provincial Museum and the Kadriyah Palace of the Pontianak Sultanate. Third, in the Provincial Museum there is a collection of geology, archaeology, history, and historical objects produced by pre-script culture until the islamic period. It is supportive as a source of historical learning and correlates with matter. While the Kadriyah Palace its existence can deepen the scientific treasures of learners about the material during the Islamic sultanates in Kalimantan.

Abstract

This research is described in three main issues of problem formulation, namely; (1). Al-Awwabien Assembly as the organization that spreads Ratib al-Haddad in Palembang City; (2). Characteristics brought by the Al-Awwabien Assembly in the reading of Ratib al-Haddad in Palembang City; (3). Looking for the influence of Ratib al-Haddad on the al-Awwabien congregation in the city of Palembang. The purpose of this research is to explore practicing Ratib Al-Haddad in Al-Awwabien Assembly. This study uses historical methode. Based on data interviews with three informants, namely Habib Ali Karor al-Haddad, Ustadz Abul Hasan Assyadzili and Ustadz Ilyas. The results of this study, as is known, the dhikr of Ratib Al-Haddad is generally practiced by people of Hadramaut Arab descent. After the al-Awwabien assembly founded by KH. Ali Umar Thoyyib in 1985 taught the dhikr of Ratib al-Haddad to the public, slowly became a popular practice outside the Arab descent environment. The type of Ratib al-Haddad reading taught by the al-Awwabien assembly is slightly different from that practiced by the general public, namely the addition of other dhikr. The Al-Awwabien Assembly was very influential on the people of Palembang so that they became more religious.

Abstract

This study aims to find out and also understand Soekarno's Islamic journey which aims to see how far Soekarno's understanding is in understanding himself as a Muslim; see the role of HOS Tjokroaminoto and Kiai Haji Ahmad Dahlan in influencing Soekarno regarding modernist Islamic thought and see the influence of HOS Tjokroaminoto and Kiai Haji Ahmad Dahlan in influencing Soekarno's thoughts on Islam. The method used is the historical narrative method. The results of this study are able to explain the background and influence of these two figures on Soekarno in understanding his religion. Can know and understand Soekarno's journey to know and explore Islam. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that along Soekarno's journey to know Islam there was an important role of HOS Tjokroaminoto and K.H Ahmad Dahlan in giving influence, understanding and Islamic thought to Soekarno. Therefore, the purpose of these figures in proclaiming modern Islamic thoughts is solely for the benefit of Muslims so that they are always ready to face future challenges.

Abstract

The existence of the Civil Service Police (Pol-PP) in the historical trajectory of the Indonesian nation has become an inseparable part of the administration of government, both from the Dutch colonial period until Indonesia's independence. The role of Pol-PP in realizing peace and tranquility in East Lombok is part of the routine agenda of the local government. This study aims to determine the history of the establishment of Pol-PP in Indonesia and East Lombok. Knowing the role of Pol-PP in maintaining and overcoming public peace and order in East Lombok. The historical research method is used to reveal the existence and role of Pol-PP in maintaining security and order in the wheels of government in East Lombok. The stages of the historical method are carried out through heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the study indicate that the Pol-PP in East Lombok has made a significant contribution to the success of the East Lombok regional government in maintaining peace and order in the community in particular. This was realized from the period 2000-20020 where the role and function of Pol-PP went well.

Abstract

This article examines the New Order's supervision of ex-PKI political prisoners in West Sumatra. They were arrested after the G30S incident and were released in the 1970s. The purpose of this paper is to explain why the New Order supervised them and how the New Order government's supervision patterns of the ex-political prisoners in West Sumatra Province. This paper historical method. There are four steps in this method; heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. This research shows that there are more than 40,000 political prisoners in this province. This Surveillance had carried out by various government agencies and carried out in a structured and systematic manner. The authorities held all the data of the ex-political prisoners. Thus it made it easier for the process to monitor them. The New Order could prevent the revival of the PKI and communism in Indonesia. As the governing regime, the New Order had the authority to run its programs. However, this policy affected the ex-political prisoner's lives because it the limitation that resulted from that policy.

Abstract

One of the events marking the period 1945-1950 was the Military Aggression I and II which deployed many military divisions in an effort to fight for independence in the regions. The Dutch' great desire to regain control of Indonesia after the proclamation is one form of real threat that must again be faced by the Indonesian nation. Under the pretext of “Police Action”, the Dutch soldiers carried out military activities while violating a previously agreed agreement. Turmoil in various regions began to appear, one of them in the Batu-Pujon region which is one of the highlands and flanked by several mountains. The status quo monument in Pandesari area became a symbol of the boundaries of dutch occupation and Republic territory. The battle that took place in the Batu-Pujon region was a small battle that took place during the Military Aggression. This article written by using the historical research methods try to explain the history of Dutch Military Agression in the local history context of Batu-Pujon region.

Abstract

Referring to the four competencies that must be possessed in the 21st century, digital literacy skills are one of the most important competencies for today's young generation especially student of history education. The problem of this research is how to develop an e-module in the History Learning Strategy course in History Study Program in Faculty of Teacher and Training Education, University of PGRI Palembang. The purpose of this research is to produce e-modules in the History Learning Strategy course. This study uses a development research method with stages, namely, need assessment, literature review, planning, developing the preminarry form of product, product revision, preminnary field test, and product revision. In this module, it is organized into five major sections, consisting of learning theory, PAIKEM, models, methods and learning media as well as examples and assessments of historical learning. The results showed that this e-module was considered communicative and user friendly to be used by students taking the History Learning Strategy course.

Abstract

Indonesia has a number of colonial educational buildings scattered in various regions. On the island of Java, there are many teaching schools that produce intellectual, artistic and political figures. Teacher schools have become one of the granaries for producing great Indonesian figures. This study aims to determine the actions of Hoogere Kweekschool as a teacher school in creating great figures in each of their careers. This study uses historical research methods in the form of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography based on qualitative data analysis. The results of the study stated that Hoogere Kweekschool (H.K.S) was first established in 1914 in Purworejo. The students come from the best graduates of all Kweekschools in the Dutch East Indies. H.K.S graduates are usually directly placed in either H.I.S or Schakelschool. In 1921 the H.K.S student association was formed called "De Broederschap". This association fights for further education for its graduates so that they can become gymnastics teachers in high schools or become heads of H.I.S. This association also opened up opportunities for Hoofdakte courses (principal teacher certificates) to be opened in Bandung and Jakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the brainstorming learning method on the ability to express opinions of class XI students at Almaarif Singosari Highschool in learning history. The research design used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental type of one group pretest-posttest design. The research instrument used was a description test as the main instrument, used to see the ability to express students' opinions in writing and observation as a companion instrument to see the ability to express students' opinions orally. The analysis of the data used is the paired sample t-test and normality test. The results of the study in test scores showed an increase from the pretest average of 55.97 to 68.96 on the posttest average. Then on the observation sheet, students also have an increase in the ability to express opinions orally. The increase was seen from the average before the implementation, which was 31,76 to 66,17 when the brainstorming method was implemented in the class. Furthermore, from hypothesis testing, the results obtained are sig.0,000 sig 0.05. So, from this, it can be concluded that the brainstorming method affects the ability to express students in the experimental class.

Abstract

Sukuh Temple and Cetho Temple are relics of high value and inherit the values of life for the surrounding community. Archaeologically these two temples have differences. On that basis, the problem in this study is how to compare the history of Sukuh Temple and Cetho Temple as well as from architectural and cultural aspects. This article then aims to explain the similarities and differences in the historical, architectural and cultural aspects of Sukuh and Cetho Temples. The research method used is qualitative with an exploratory study that is descriptive naturalistic in nature. The results showed that the Sukuh and Cetho Temples were built during the Majapahit Kingdom. In the architectural aspect, Sukuh and Cetho Temples have similarities and differences related to the shape, location and arrangement of the reliefs. In terms of cultural aspects, the people around Sukuh and Cetho Temples have local traditions and culture, namely Grebek Sukuh, Ruwatan Tradition, Galungan Ceremony, Dawuhan, Pancawali Krama and Medang Siang. This tradition contains religious values, mutual cooperation, togetherness and tolerance values.
