Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disorder that occurs in the joints characterized by degradation of the joint cartilage. Osteoarthritis attacks individuals aged 70 years and over. Factors that trigger osteoarthritis include obesity or excess body weight, age, gender, history of trauma and activities with excessive load and intensity. Knee OA is the result of progressive loss of articular cartilage. Delivering education about quadriceps strengthening aimed at elderly people with knee osteoarthritis aims to reduce complaints of pain they feel. The introduction of quadriceps strengthening exercises uses the drill and practice method, namely by continuously practicing movements repeatedly to reduce the level of knee pain. When providing education regarding quadriceps strengthening exercises to the elderly, they seemed happy and enthusiastic in implementing every direction and movement. It is hoped that this activity can be carried out regularly by the elderly to reduce pain complaints in the elderly.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease that has been around for a long time. There are often high blood sugar levels and intolerance to sugar substitutes, because the pancreas gland cannot produce sufficient insulin, the body cannot use the insulin produced normally, or both. There are several risk factors that follow, such as peripheral arterial disease, neuropathy, the immune system, and continuous internal or external trauma. This trauma will give rise to infection and then the formation of an open wound which is often called Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU). This DFU can cause several disorders such as decreased muscle flexibility and range of motion of the ankle joint. The aim of this outreach is to provide education and ankle pumping exercises to elderly people with DFU which can be done independently at home. The results obtained were an increase in public insight and knowledge regarding ankle pumping exercises, and regarding the prevention of DFU. The targeted elderly with DFU understand and can do ankle pumping exercises regularly, obediently and independently without the help of other people at home. Before counseling, the elderly understood DM and DFU better than prevention and ankle pumping exercises, indicating that healing behavior is better known than prevention. This shows the need for follow-up activities in the form of intensifying health promotion activities, especially for preventive measures.

Era 5.0 has greatly influenced all aspects of life, including education. Era 5.0 is an era where all activities have experienced digitalization. In the education sector, digitalization is carried out on learning devices. One way to do this is by using the Canva application. The Canva application has several advantages: it is easy to access via various gadgets, and teachers have been given special access to get a premium account. Based on this, the Khairun University FKIP service team held a service at SDN 48 Ternate City. The service activity is "Training and Mentoring Teachers in Making Creative Learning Media using the Canva Application". This activity will occur from 15 May to 17 June 2024, starting at 09.00 WIT - 16.10 WIT, and will occur in class IV at SDN 48 Ternate City. This school was chosen because it is a school that is partnered with the Khairun University Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) study program. The result of this socialization activity is an article published as a form of publication of the activity. Abstract

This community service aims to identify and enhance the awareness and understanding of students at SMKN 1 Meureubo regarding evacuation routes in the face of earthquake and tsunami threats. Meureubo, located on the west coast of Aceh, is in a high-risk zone for tsunamis, making comprehension of evacuation routes crucial to minimizing the risk of casualties. This outreach involves participatory methods including counseling, evacuation drills, questionnaire distribution, and the dissemination of educational materials on the steps to be taken during a disaster. The evacuation routes introduced consist of five routes. The results of this activity show a significant increase in students' knowledge and preparedness for emergency evacuation procedures. Regarding the ease of access to the provided evacuation routes, 44.4% of respondents agreed, while 48.5% disagreed due to the lack of evacuation signs leading to the designated assembly points. Therefore, it is hoped that this activity will continue and be disseminated to the entire community of West Aceh Regency, especially in Meureubo sub-district, so that it can serve as a model to be implemented in other schools in disaster-prone areas to enhance the safety and well-being of the community.
