Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Madrasah Literacy Movement Program (GALATAMA) at MAN 2 Tidore Islands City using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model to assess its institutional alignment and effectiveness. The research adopts a qualitative program evaluation approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving 15 purposively selected informants (madrasah principal, librarian, teachers, and students). The analysis assesses the alignment in the areas of Qur’anic literacy (BTQ), Arabic, English, and reading culture. Context aligns well with institutional needs and national educational policies. Inputs are structurally adequate, although contemporary non-fiction collections remain limited. The 15-minute reading process is consistently executed but faces operational challenges from digital gadget distractions and varying teacher competencies. Products demonstrate an enhanced madrasah reading culture, improved text comprehension portfolios, and reinforced religious character. This study provides strategic implications for strengthening the management of the Madrasah Literacy Movement. However, this study is limited to one madrasah, so the results are contextual and cannot be generalized widely. This study offers a comprehensive evaluation of GALATAMA using the CIPP framework, uniquely integrating aspects of national policy, multi-linguistic resources, operational implementation challenges, and spiritual character outcomes into a single framework.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of conceptual distortion associated with the use of shirkah in the Compilation of Islamic Law and the Marriage Law and to examine their implications for the protection of heirs' rights under the faraidh system. This study employed normative legal research using statute, conceptual, and comparative approaches based on primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The analysis was conducted through normative content analysis, epistemological comparison, and qualitative legal reasoning to evaluate the consistency between Indonesian matrimonial property law and Islamic jurisprudence. The findings reveal four interrelated forms of conceptual distortion terminological, consequential, proportional, and hierarchical—demonstrating that the statutory construction of matrimonial property departs from the contractual principles of authentic shirkah. The analysis further shows that Article 96 of the Compilation of Islamic Law reduces the distributable inheritance estate before the implementation of faraidh, thereby influencing heirs' distributive rights and creating normative tension with the Qur'anic inheritance framework. The findings indicate that the current legal construction of matrimonial property requires conceptual reconstruction through a clearer distinction between shirkah as a contractual institution, contribution-based matrimonial property, and faraidh as a binding inheritance system. Such reconstruction may strengthen legal certainty, improve doctrinal consistency, and better protect heirs' rights within Indonesian Islamic family law. This study is the first to conceptualize the misapplication of shirkah as a multidimensional legal distortion comprising terminological, consequential, proportional, and hierarchical dimensions. It also offers an original analytical framework linking the conceptual misclassification of shirkah directly to measurable distributive consequences in the faraidh system, thereby integrating Islamic contract law, inheritance jurisprudence, and Indonesian matrimonial property law within a unified doctrinal model.

Abstract

This study examines the early Islamization of the Bima Sultanate by analyzing the relationship between faith and political power as the principal forces shaping religious and political transformation. It explains how different Islamization networks contributed to the emergence of Islamic rule and identity in Bima. The study employs the historical method through heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. It integrates historical, sociological, and Islamic studies perspectives to reconstruct the Islamization process within its broader political and cultural context. The findings reveal two interconnected pathways of Islamization: a cultural-religious pathway associated with Javanese Islamic traditions and a political-structural pathway linked to the Maluku Sultanates. Rather than operating independently, these pathways interacted within wider maritime networks, enabling Bima's transformation into an Islamic sultanate. Religious belief provided legitimacy, while political authority institutionalized Islamic governance and shaped a distinctive Islamic identity. This study advances the historiography of Islamization in the Indonesian archipelago by proposing an interregional analytical framework that integrates religious and political dimensions. Despite the limited availability of primary sources, it offers a basis for future interdisciplinary research using newly discovered archival and manuscript evidence. The study demonstrates that the Islamization of Bima cannot be understood through a single regional influence. Instead, it highlights the interaction of interconnected interregional religious and political networks, providing a more comprehensive interpretation of the formation of Islamic authority and identity in the Bima Sultanate.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of an Inclusive Fundraising Strategy (IFS) grounded in religious moderation on Public Donation Interest (PDI) in Bogor Regency, Indonesia. It addresses the persistent gap between the region’s substantial philanthropic potential and its relatively low realization by examining whether inclusive fundraising practices can enhance public willingness to donate across religious communities. A quantitative explanatory survey design was employed using purposive sampling. Data were collected from 100 respondents representing diverse religious backgrounds in Bogor Regency through a structured five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS, including validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results reveal that IFS has a positive and statistically significant effect on PDI (β = 0.484; p < 0.001). The regression model indicates that improvements in inclusive fundraising practices are associated with higher public donation interest. However, the model explains 23.4% of the variance in donation interest, suggesting that other determinants also influence individuals’ willingness to donate. The findings encourage philanthropic organizations to strengthen inclusivity, transparency, accessibility, and religious moderation within their fundraising strategies. Nevertheless, the cross-sectional design, single-predictor model, limited sample size, and focus on Bogor Regency restrict the generalizability of the findings. Future studies should incorporate additional variables and broader geographical coverage. This study offers an empirical contribution by integrating religious moderation into the concept of inclusive fundraising strategy and quantitatively demonstrating its association with public donation interest.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of communication conflict and the fragmentation of public discourse arising from escalating geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. It addresses a gap in existing scholarship by analyzing how intense media exposure generates communicative dissonance and semantic ambiguity between grassroots narratives and formal institutional discourse. The study positions Islamic communication ethics particularly ṣidq, amānah, tablīgh, ‘adl, and the Qur’anic principle of tabayyun as the normative framework for interpreting contemporary information disorder. This research employs a qualitative analytical approach using a multi-layered communication conflict framework. It examines the interaction between digital media saturation and sociopolitical dialectics by analyzing how information flows are produced, contested, and interpreted across different communicative domains. Islamic communication ethics serve as the principal analytical lens for assessing the normative implications of media circulation and public meaning-making. The findings indicate that high-intensity media exposure intensifies the polarization of public opinion and produces structural ruptures in meaning-making. Informal public discourse frequently diverges from official institutional narratives, thereby reinforcing chronic information fragmentation and systemic communication conflict. From the perspective of Islamic communication ethics, the erosion of tabayyun weakens information integrity and accelerates the circulation of emotionally charged and unverified narratives during geopolitical crises. This study contributes to Islamic media and communication studies by demonstrating the relevance of Islamic ethical principles for understanding misinformation, discourse fragmentation, and conflict communication in the digital era. However, the research is limited by its qualitative and interpretive scope, which may not fully capture empirical variations across different sociopolitical contexts. This study proposes that contemporary geopolitical crises can be understood as localized communicative conflicts shaped by media saturation and normative disruption. By integrating Islamic communication ethics and tabayyun into debates on global information integrity, it offers a theoretical bridge between Islamic studies and contemporary media discourse.

Abstract

This study analyzes and reconstructs the legal framework for Islamic financial inclusion based on maqāṣid al-sharīʻah, from the perspective of Muḥammad al-Ṭāhir Ibn ʿĀshūr, motivated by Indonesia's persistently low Islamic financial literacy rate (9.14%, OJK SNLIK 2022). A normative juridical method is employed, drawing on statutory, conceptual, and philosophical approaches. Primary legal materials include Law No. 21/2008, Law No. 8/1999, Law No. 4/2023 (UU P2SK), POJK No. 6/POJK.07/2022, and DSN-MUI fatwas, analyzed qualitatively using Ibn ʿĀshūr's maqāṣid framework. Legal protection in Islamic finance is structurally deficient in three respects: regulatory fragmentation, formalistic Sharīʻah compliance, and inadequate disclosure standards. The low literacy rate creates information asymmetry that undermines genuine consumer consent (tarāḍī). Ibn ʿĀshūr's four principles, namely ḥifẓ al-māl, al-ʿadl, al-ḥurriyyah, and rafʿ al-ḥaraj, are operationalized as a four-pillar reconstruction model that integrates regulatory consolidation, substantive Sharīʻah supervision, Islamic financial literacy as a statutory obligation, and accessible dispute resolution. The framework carries normative implications for OJK, DSN-MUI, and Islamic financial institutions. As a normative study, empirical validation is not included; future socio-legal research is necessary to test the framework in practice. This study offers one of the more systematic attempts to operationalize Ibn ʿĀshūr's four universal principles into specific, enforceable legal protection standards for the Islamic financial sector.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors influencing awareness, attitudes, and intention to consume halal food and beverage products through online ordering applications, particularly among Muslim millennials in Kendari City. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 96 Muslim millennial respondents in Kendari City, selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique to assess the relationships among religiosity, product knowledge, awareness, attitude, and intention. The results indicate that awareness and attitude have a significant positive effect on the intention to consume halal products online. Religiosity and product knowledge do not directly influence intention. However, both religiosity and product knowledge significantly affect awareness. Furthermore, religiosity and awareness significantly influence attitudes, while product knowledge does not show a significant effect on attitudes. The findings suggest that halal certification authorities, online food ordering platforms, and halal food vendors should strengthen consumer awareness by improving the visibility of halal certification, providing transparent product information, and promoting halal literacy through digital channels. Enhancing consumers’ awareness and attitudes toward halal products may increase their intention to purchase halal food and beverages online. However, the study is limited by its relatively small sample size of 96 respondents and its focus on Muslim millennials in Kendari City, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other populations and geographical contexts. This study provides empirical insights into the behavioral determinants of halal consumption in the context of digital platforms, highlighting the mediating roles of awareness and attitude. It contributes to the growing literature on halal consumer behavior by focusing on Muslim millennials and the use of online food ordering applications, particularly in a regional Indonesian context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential and characteristics of zakat on performance-based allowances for professors and associate professors at PTKIN institutions, particularly at UIN Datokarama Palu. The research design employed was qualitative field research. The research subjects consisted of 6 full professors and 6 associate professors selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that lecturers’ performance-based allowances constitute a significant potential source for strengthening Islamic philanthropy and educational financing within PTKIN institutions. In terms of characteristics, professional zakat among senior lecturers reflects a high level of zakat awareness, primarily motivated by religious obligation and a sense of social responsibility. The selected mustahik are predominantly the poor and those categorized as fī sabīlillāh, particularly university students, Islamic boarding schools, mosques, and Islamic educational institutions. Meanwhile, zakat payment patterns combine direct distribution with digital payment systems, although social proximity-based distribution remains dominant. This study is limited by the number of informants. Furthermore, the calculation of zakat potential remains an estimate and does not fully reflect the actual circumstances of individuals, making it highly dependent on the informants’ perceptions. Nevertheless, the study contributes to the development of professional zakat studies by demonstrating that the remuneration system for lecturers at PTKIN institutions creates substantial zakat potential that can be institutionally optimized. This study offers a novel contribution by specifically examining the potential and characteristics of professional zakat on performance-based allowances among full professors and associate professors at PTKIN institutions, particularly UIN Datokarama Palu. It also integrates analyses of zakat potential, payment characteristics, recipient patterns, and distribution mechanisms within the context of Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the contribution of productive zakat to strengthening the economic resilience of mustahik households in the post-disaster context of Palu City. It addresses the gap between the high potential of zakat and its still limited role in supporting sustainable microenterprise recovery after disaster. A mixed-methods approach was employed by combining survey data from 60 productive zakat beneficiaries of BAZNAS Kota Palu during 2019–2024, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, and simple linear regression. Qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis. The findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between productive zakat and household economic resilience. The regression coefficient was 0.474 (β = 0.773, t = 9.271, p < 0.001), while the model accounted for 59.7% of the observed variation in household economic resilience within the beneficiary sample. Qualitative findings show that productive zakat supported mustahik in increasing business capital, purchasing production tools, restarting disrupted businesses, expanding trading activities, and fulfilling basic household needs. This study is limited to productive zakat beneficiaries and does not include a non-beneficiary comparison group. Therefore, the findings should be interpreted as evidence of a significant relationship rather than definitive causal proof. Future studies should use comparison groups and longitudinal data to examine causal and long-term effects more rigorously. This study contributes to Islamic philanthropy and post-disaster recovery studies by integrating maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah and social capital theory to understand productive zakat as a household resilience and microenterprise empowerment instrument in Palu City.

Abstract

This study examines why the transformation of traditional waqf into productive waqf remains limited in Indonesia despite its significant potential and explores its relevance for supporting sustainable development at the local level. This study employed a qualitative case study approach in Palopo City, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 participants, including nazhir, officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, mosque administrators, religious leaders, and community representatives. Field observations and document analysis of waqf regulations, institutional reports, and policy documents were also conducted. The findings reveal that most waqf assets in Palopo are still utilized for traditional religious purposes such as mosques, prayer rooms, schools, and cemeteries, while productive utilization remains limited. Major barriers include the absence of specialized waqf institutions, limited managerial capacity among nazhir, weak institutional coordination, and dominant traditional perceptions of waqf within the community. Informal and familial patterns in the appointment of nazhir further constrain professional governance and productive asset management. Nevertheless, emerging initiatives, such as the use of mosque waqf land for micro-enterprise rentals, illustrate the potential of productive waqf to support local economic empowerment and social welfare. Although limited to a single local context, this study offers practical implications for the Indonesian Waqf Board, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, local governments, mosque committees, and nazhir development programs by underscoring the need for stronger coordination and professional capacity in productive waqf management. This study contributes local empirical evidence by highlighting the gap between national waqf policies and local implementation while demonstrating the potential contribution of productive waqf to community-based development aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
