Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays an important and central role in shaping students’ morals and spirituality. This study aims to analyze: (1) the internalization of tafakkur verses in PAI learning (2) the strategies used by PAI teachers in implementing tafakkur-based learning; and (3) the impact of internalizing tafakkur verses in PAI learning. This study employs a qualitative design with a thematic approach. The data analysis technique consists of four steps: categorization, reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Meanwhile, to ensure data validity, this study applies prolonged engagement, persistent observation, and triangulation. first, the final product obtained was the internalization of the verses of tafakkur in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, namely tafakkur as a critical thinking method. These findings are based on three dimensions: tafakkur in its conceptual form, tafakkur in its procedural form, and tafakkur in its reflective-applicative form. Second, through appropriate teaching strategies and teacher professionalism, tafakkur is able to encourage vocational high school students to study more diligently, not only in a technical learning environment but also in strengthening the internalization of the spiritual values of Islamic teachings. Third, tafakkur based PAI learning has proven to be successful, as evidenced by its positive impact on learning, personal development, and ecological awareness. The internalization of the tafakkur verse through reflective practice, case studies, and the association of vocational material demonstrates that students construct knowledge through meaningful experiences. This aligns with constructivism theory, which argues that effective learning occurs when students incorporate new concepts into real-world contexts, enabling tafakkur to become a means of building both spiritual awareness and vocational skills. The internalization of the verses of contemplation reinforces the theory of integrative Islamic education, as proposed by Al-Attas and Al-Nahlawi, that religious knowledge and general knowledge cannot be separated.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies through habitual programs in developing students’ character at Nurul Ihsan Muhajirin Private Islamic Junior High School. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation from the madrasah principal, Akidah Akhlak teachers, homeroom teachers, subject teachers, guidance counselors, the vice principal for student affairs, parents/guardians, and students (17 informants). Data were analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with data validity ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. Teachers’ strategies for developing students’ character were implemented through setting a good example, fostering religious practices, providing guidance, supervision, and the use of rewards and punishments. These strategies were applied through a regular program consisting of reciting Surah Al-Waqi’ah, group prayers, and congregational Dhuha prayers. These programs demonstrate the development of students’ religious character, sense of responsibility, and good manners, while discipline develops more slowly and is not yet uniform. Program implementation still faces challenges such as tardiness, lack of concentration, excessive use of gadgets, and inconsistent character-building practices within families. The findings indicate that character building requires consistent practice, teacher role modeling, supervision, and family support. The study was limited to a single madrasah; therefore, the findings should be understood within the context of the study. The novelty of this study lies in the analysis of the integration of five teacher strategies within the Habitual Program to develop students’ character through a culture of habit formation at the madrasah.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Islamic ethical perception, product image, and price fairness on Muslim consumer loyalty toward batik products, addressing the limited integration of Islamic ethical values with conventional marketing variables in explaining loyalty toward local cultural products. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 113 Muslim consumers in Palopo City through purposive sampling and a structured five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The proposed model was analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS to assess the measurement and structural relationships among constructs. Islamic ethical perception, product image, and price fairness each significantly and positively influence Muslim consumer loyalty. Product image shows the strongest effect (β = 0.370; t = 4.773; p < 0.001), followed by price fairness (β = 0.361; t = 4.378; p < 0.001) and Islamic ethical perception (β = 0.326; t = 5.065; p < 0.001), together explaining 81.3% of the variance in consumer loyalty. These findings suggest that loyalty toward local cultural products is shaped by both economic and ethical considerations, offering practical guidance for batik producers and policymakers to strengthen competitiveness through ethical business practices, product differentiation, and fair pricing. This study integrates Islamic ethical perception, product image, and price fairness within a single empirical model to explain Muslim consumer loyalty toward batik, highlighting the combined role of ethical, symbolic, and economic dimensions within a local Islamic marketing context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of religiosity, service quality, and profit sharing on member satisfaction in sharia cooperatives in Jember Regency, Indonesia. The study is important because empirical research on member satisfaction in sharia cooperatives remains limited, particularly in regions characterized by strong Islamic socio-cultural values. This study employed a quantitative approach using purposive sampling. Data were collected from 68 members of four sharia cooperatives in Jember Regency through questionnaires measured using a five-point Likert scale. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the effects of religiosity, service quality, and profit sharing on member satisfaction. The results indicate that profit sharing has a positive and significant effect on member satisfaction (β = 0.601; p < 0.001). In contrast, religiosity (p = 0.663) and service quality (p = 0.983) do not significantly affect member satisfaction. The regression model explains approximately 19.08% of the variation in member satisfaction. This study is limited by its relatively small sample size and its focus on sharia cooperatives in a single regency, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Future studies are encouraged to include broader geographical coverage and additional variables related to Islamic financial behavior. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic cooperatives by demonstrating that profit sharing, as a reflection of fairness, transparency, and economic benefit in Islamic economics, plays a more important role in shaping member satisfaction than religiosity or service quality.

Abstract

This study systematically maps the convergence of digitalization, the green economy, and Islamic economics through bibliometric and network analysis to identify growth trends, thematic clusters, the alignment of digital technologies with Islamic frameworks, and research gaps for a future research agenda. This study employs a bibliometric method using Scopus data collected in March 2026 with the keywords "Digitalization," "Green Economy," and "Islamic Economy". Documents published between 2010 and 2025 were selected using the PRISMA approach; from an initial 2,734 records, 1,457 articles were analyzed using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny (R-Studio). Publications grew in three phases: stagnation, exponential acceleration, and consolidation thereafter. Keyword analysis identifies digitalization, economy, green finance, green economy, and sukuk as the most frequent terms across six interconnected knowledge-domain clusters, with M. R. Rabbani as the most prolific author (12 documents). Four key research gaps emerge: limited empirical integration of digitalization with the Islamic green economy, underdeveloped blockchain applications for green sukuk, insufficient Maqashid Sharia-based big data analytics, and scarce field-based empirical evaluation. Digitalization can accelerate Islamic-value-based green economic development, provided it is supported by stronger regulation, ethical frameworks, financial literacy, and cross-sector collaboration toward an inclusive, sustainable digital Sharia green economy. This study offers a novel, holistic bibliometric and network mapping that integrates digitalization, the green economy, and Islamic economics within an Islamic framework to chart a future research agenda.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of research on cash waqf and poverty alleviation in Indonesia and to explore the potential of cash waqf in supporting poverty alleviation. This study uses bibliometric analysis and a literature review. Data were collected from Google Scholar using Publish or Perish and screened based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. VOSviewer was used to identify the main topics and development of research, while the selected studies were reviewed to understand the role of cash waqf in poverty alleviation. The results show that cash waqf and poverty alleviation are the main topics in the literature, with related themes such as community empowerment, social welfare, Baitul Maal wat Tamwil, sustainable development, and cash waqf-linked sukuk. The reviewed studies suggest that cash waqf may support poverty alleviation through productive financing, microfinance, and community empowerment. However, its contribution depends on good governance, nadzir capacity, institutional support, and public literacy. Cash waqf can contribute to poverty alleviation, but further empirical studies are needed to assess its actual impact. This study is also limited by its reliance on Google Scholar as the primary database. This study combines bibliometric analysis and literature review to provide an overview of cash waqf research and its potential contribution to poverty alleviation in Indonesia.
Scientific exegesis in Tafsir al-Mishbah: M. Quraish Shihab’s use of scientific explanation in interpreting kawniyah verses Rizki Firmansyah; Erik Tauvani Somae; M. Nurdin Zuhdi; Abur Hamdi Usman

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the model of scientific interpretation in Tafsir al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab. It seeks to explore the extent to which Shihab interprets āyāt kawniyyah (cosmological verses) through scientific references, especially regarding the purpose of scientific interpretation and the sources he employs. Although Shihab often states his disagreement with scientific exegesis, his commentary paradoxically incorporates scientific concepts, making this research significant in clarifying his nuanced position. The study employs a qualitative approach with a textual focus on Shihab’s Tafsir al-Mishbah. Primary data consists of Shihab’s own exegesis, while secondary data is drawn from scholarly journals discussing scientific interpretation and al-Mishbah. The analysis centers on Shihab’s interpretive strategies, his references, and his methodological stance toward scientific exegesis. The research finds that although Shihab explicitly rejects scientific exegesis (tafsīr ‘ilmī) as an independent or primary method, elements of it are nonetheless present in his interpretation, particularly in cosmological verses. He frequently draws upon references such as Tafsīr al-Muntakhab, which are uncommon in Indonesian tafsir, thereby enriching his commentary. His approach demonstrates that scientific exegesis can serve as reinforcement of exegetical understanding rather than as its main objective. The study concludes that Shihab’s selective incorporation of scientific exegesis highlights both the potential and limitations of this approach in contemporary Qur’anic interpretation. It implies that future development of scientific exegesis in Indonesia should be pursued thematically to ensure coherence and relevance, while avoiding speculative reliance on unstable scientific theories. The originality of this research lies in its systematic analysis of Shihab’s model of scientific exegesis, moving beyond descriptive categorization to evaluate his methodological strengths and weaknesses, and offering new insights into how scientific interpretation can be responsibly integrated into Qur’anic hermeneutics.

Abstract

This study examines how the collapse of Islamic microfinance institutions, particularly Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT), can be understood as a systemic failure of risk governance rather than merely a liquidity or financing problem. It focuses on how cognitive, structural, procedural, and sharia-ethical failures disrupt maqasid al-shari'ah protection. This study employed a qualitative comparative post-collapse case study of two Islamic microfinance institutions, referred to as BMT-A and BMT-B. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, chronological interviews, document analysis, cross-actor clarification, and limited observation of institutional traces. This study involved 30 informants who served as the primary data sources.  The analysis combined within-case analysis, cross-case comparison, thematic coding, pattern matching, and maqasid al-shari'ah impact mapping using Auda’s systems approach. The findings indicate that the collapse of BMTs occurred through the interaction of cognitive, structural, procedural, and ethical-sharia risk governance failures. These failures manifested themselves through a narrowing of the meaning of risk, weak supervisory accountability, and non-corrective control mechanisms, resulting in a maqasid al-shari'ah misalignment. The study is limited to two post-collapse cases and is not intended for statistical generalisation. Its findings, however, offer an analytical basis for developing maqasid al-shari'ah-based early warning systems in Islamic microfinance. This study contributes a maqasid al-shari'ah-based risk governance failure model that positions maqasid al-shari'ah not only as a normative ideal or performance indicator, but also as a diagnostic framework for explaining institutional collapse in Islamic microfinance.

Abstract

This study systematically maps Scopus-indexed scholarship on Indonesian contemporary ijtihad, examines how the literature characterizes institutional authority and methodological approaches, and identifies understudied areas.  A Systematic Literature Review was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 framework. The review covers peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed scholarship about Indonesian ijtihad rather than fatwa texts or direct records of ulama deliberation. Eight search strings retrieved 312 records from Scopus on 15 January 2025. After deduplication, screening, and eligibility assessment, 27 unique articles were synthesized through thematic analysis.  Four thematic clusters emerged: fatwa authority and institutional legitimacy, digital ijtihad and technological adaptation, maqasid al-shariah as a contemporary legal framework, and emerging legal domains. Maqasid appears as a primary or secondary analytical lens in 18 of 27 articles (67%). The synthesis identifies three major gaps: limited study of ijtihad jama’i in digital-era fatwa production, limited integration of usul al-fiqh with contemporary scientific knowledge, and limited attention to artificial intelligence ethics and environmental governance. The review is limited to English- and Indonesian-language Scopus-indexed articles and excludes SINTA-indexed journals, books, institutional fatwa documents, and grey literature. Its findings describe the state of scholarship rather than the quality of ijtihad practice. This review integrates institutional, methodological, digital, and substantive dimensions of Indonesian contemporary ijtihad scholarship and uses the synthesis to develop a focused research agenda.
