Abstract

This study aims to examine how the Muslim-friendly tourism value chain is implemented in tourist areas by evaluating its alignment with local regulatory frameworks, government reports, official data, and relevant scientific literature. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilising official government reports, observation without interviews, and scientific articles selected using the PRISMA approach. Official reports in the form of governor’s regulations, which serve as guidelines, were compared with the implementation of the value chain in tourist areas; these were subsequently critiqued using the selected scientific articles analysed through the PRISMA approach. The implementation of the value chain, comprising Muslim-friendly tourist destinations, halal transport services, food and beverage services, and halal accommodation in the Baturaden and Tawangmangu tourist areas, has been partially implemented based on business criteria. This study aims to identify a conceptual framework regarding how the value chains of Muslim-friendly tourist destinations, transport services, food and beverage services, and accommodation can be synergistically interconnected within a single Muslim-friendly tourism supply chain, based on official government reports. This study contributes to the understanding that, in order to conduct research relating to Muslim-friendly tourism in a particular region, it must be ensured that the region has enacted local regulations so that there are binding standards for measuring the alignment between the concept and its implementation, which apply to all stakeholders.

Abstract

This study examines the legal politics of marriage law reform in Indonesia by tracing the historical configurations of legal pluralism and analyzing how each configuration has reshaped the negotiation between Islamic norms, state legal authority, and social transformation within the national marriage law system. This research employs a normative legal method using historical, statutory, and conceptual approaches. Data were collected through library research on legislation, judicial developments, and relevant literature, then analyzed descriptively and analytically. The study finds that marriage law reform in Indonesia is shaped by continuous negotiation between Islamic norms, state legal authority, customary (adat) legitimacy, constitutional rights, and social transformation. This negotiation demonstrates that reform functions not merely as legal modernization but as an ongoing institutional process through which competing religious, legal, and social norms are accommodated within Indonesia's plural legal order. This study is limited to normative and doctrinal analysis and does not include empirical examination of judicial practices, community responses, or the practical effectiveness of marriage law reform across different social settings. This article offers an original contribution by employing legal pluralism as the principal analytical framework to explain how marriage law reform in Indonesia is shaped by the continuous negotiation of Islamic norms, state authority, and social transformation, rather than treating reform merely as a sequence of legislative change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of integrative curriculum development for Islamic Religious Education and Natural Sciences (IPA) in supporting the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile in the Society 5.0 era. The study is motivated by the continuing dichotomy between Islamic Religious Education and science, which has hindered the optimal integration of spiritual values, critical-thinking skills, and learners' character development. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design at SMP Muhammadiyah Bitung, North Sulawesi. The participants comprised 16 individuals: one principal, one vice principal for curriculum affairs, two Islamic Religious Education teachers, two science teachers, and ten eighth-grade students selected purposively. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings show that integrative curriculum development was implemented through curriculum planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation by integrating a scientific-religious approach, teacher collaboration, project-based learning, and connections between qauliyah and kauniyah verses. From the participants' perspectives, the curriculum implementation supported the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile and had the potential to contribute to the development of students' faith, critical thinking, creativity, environmental awareness, and scientific ethics. The findings have implications for the development of integrative curriculum management in Islamic schools. However, because the study was conducted in a single school, the findings are contextual and are not intended to be generalized. This study offers a curriculum development management perspective that connects Islamic Religious Education, science, and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile within the educational context of Society 5.0.

Abstract

This study examines strategic leadership in curriculum differentiation and its contribution to competitive advantage at Pesantren At-Tarbiyah Nagrak Sukabumi, applying the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities as complementary interpretive lenses, an approach rarely applied jointly to newly established pesantren. This qualitative single-case study gathered data through in-depth interviews with four internal informants (institution head, curriculum deputy, two instructors), participatory observation, and document analysis, triangulated with five external informants to reduce self-representation bias. Analysis followed Braun and Clarke's thematic procedure, strengthened by pattern-matching against RBV and Dynamic Capabilities. The kyai's strategic leadership is associated with curriculum differentiation through fusing classical and modern instructional methods, using Arabic as the primary medium of communication, and positioning tahfizh al-Quran as the core curriculum. Competitive advantage is further associated with adaptive young faculty, a disciplined boarding system, and administrative digitalization, though these remain interpretive rather than statistically validated. The single case design constrains generalizability, and the predominance of internal informants leaves a residual risk of self-representation; claims about public trust should be read as indicative rather than conclusive. The study offers practical implications for newly established pesantren seeking sustainable competitive positioning. The originality lies not in new theoretical constructs but in contextually interpreting strategic-management concepts within a pesantren setting. The model combines RBV, Porter's differentiation strategy, and Dynamic Capabilities with empirically grounded mechanisms from Pesantren At-Tarbiyah Nagrak, offering practical guidance for newly established, adaptive pesantren navigating educational disruption.

Abstract

This study analyzes governance, digitalization, and business innovation practices in productive waqf institutions under Islamic mass organizations and national waqf institutions in Indonesia. It also identifies key challenges and proposes an integrated model to strengthen productive waqf management and community economic empowerment. This study employed a multi-site qualitative approach conducted over six months at nine productive waqf institutions. Twenty purposefully selected informants, including nazhirs (religious leaders), institutional leaders, program managers, and business managers, participated in in-depth interviews. Data analysis involved three stages: condensation, display, and conclusion. The findings reveal that effective productive waqf management depends on the integration of three dimensions: good waqf governance, digital waqf management, and sustainable business innovation. Across the nine institutions, productive waqf contributed to community economic empowerment by enhancing economic independence, creating employment, supporting MSME development, and improving social welfare. However, governance weaknesses, uneven digital adoption, and limited business innovation remain significant challenges. Based on the cross-case analysis, this study proposes the Integrative Model of Governance, Digitalization, and Innovation in Productive Waqf Business (MGDI-PW) as a conceptual framework for strengthening productive waqf management. The findings offer practical recommendations for policymakers, the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI), and waqf institutions to improve governance, accelerate digital transformation, and promote sustainable business innovation. This study introduces the MGDI-PW model, which integrates governance, digitalization, and innovation into a unified framework. Whereas previous studies examined these dimensions separately, this model provides a comprehensive perspective on how the integration of the three enhances productive waqf management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the value creation of Batik Tulis as a religious tourism souvenir through the perspective of the purple economy in the pilgrimage-based religious tourism area of the Tomb of Sheikh Ibrahim Asmoroqondi, Tuban, East Java, Indonesia. The pilgrimage-based setting matters for this process because devotional experience at the tomb embeds the souvenir with spiritual and identity-based meaning that is central to how its cultural value is formed, rather than the souvenir functioning as an ordinary tourist commodity. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 11 informants, participatory observation, documentation, and literature review, and were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data management was supported by NVivo, with source and method triangulation and member checking. Within this single religious tourism site, Batik Tulis functions as a marker of pilgrimage experience and local identity. However, recognition of cultural value does not automatically lead to purchase because of price sensitivity, practicality, market access, and limited digital literacy. Economic value emerges when cultural meaning is mediated through storytelling, digital marketing, product diversification, and collaboration among craftspersons, tourism actors, and local government. This study highlights the importance of managing cultural products as part of the broader ecosystem of religious tourism experience, rather than merely as commodities. This study offers a purple economy reading, showing that cultural value in local religious destinations in Indonesia becomes economic value only when mediated by storytelling, visitor experience orchestration, digital market access, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a proposed model for mosque-based Zakat Microfinance to address capital constraints among mosque congregants. These constraints are primarily driven by high dependency on usury-based (riba) conventional financing, and this model seeks to facilitate a transition toward Islamic financial systems. This study employs an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 104 congregants, direct observation, and in-depth interviews with key informants. The research procedure comprised four stages: pre-survey, field data collection, data reduction and thematic coding, and formulation of the operational model. Data analysis integrates descriptive statistics with an interactive analytical approach. The findings reveal that although the literacy rate regarding Zakat Microfinance is relatively low (28.85%), there is an overwhelming acceptance (98.08%) of collateral-free financing based on qard al-hasan contracts. Based on these findings, a Zakat Microfinance model was formulated that integrates mosque management board (ta'mir masjid), zakat institutions, business consultants, and Islamic organization leaders as a supervisory board. The model leverages digital technology through a modified Cash Management System (CMS) and incorporates innovative repayment systems via QRIS for each mosque congregant. This study was conducted within a single regional and institutional setting, employed non-probability sampling, relied partly on stated intentions, and has not yet implemented the proposed financing model. The originality of this study lies in the formulation of a communal social banking model based on the mosque ecosystem, which has the potential to generate moral collateral through the social control mechanisms of the mosque community.. This moral collateral is established through the social control mechanism of the mosque community, which replaces traditional physical collateral in micro-financing systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of educational horizontal mismatch on employees’ pro-environmental behavior at Bank Syariah Indonesia in five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) and examine the mediating roles of job satisfaction and green human resource management (GHRM). A quantitative explanatory approach with a cross-sectional survey design was adopted. Primary data were collected from 120 employees using online questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling based on partial least squares (SEM-PLS). Horizontal mismatch (operationalized such that higher scores reflect greater educational-job congruence/suitability) did not have a significant direct effect on employees’ pro-environmental behavior. However, it positively and significantly influenced job satisfaction and GHRM practices. Both job satisfaction and GHRM significantly affected pro-environmental behavior and fully mediated the relationship, resulting in a strong and significant total effect. From an Islamic perspective, these findings indicate that organizational mechanisms and employee well-being play an essential role in translating professional competencies into environmentally responsible actions aligned with Islamic ethical principles. The study is limited by its cross-sectional design, relatively small sample size from a single banking institution, and potential self-report bias, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings and the ability to establish long-term causal relationships between the variables. Future studies may incorporate broader institutional contexts and longitudinal approaches to capture the sustainability of pro-environmental behavior over time. This research provides an empirical extension of employees’ pro-environmental behavior literature by examining educational horizontal mismatch (operationalized as congruence) in relation to employees’ pro-environmental behavior within Islamic banking in Indonesia’s Super Priority Tourism Destinations, and offers practical recommendations for sustainable human resource management in the tourism sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal implications of divorce outside the courts in the perspective of national law and Islamic law and explain how the harmonization of the two legal systems can realize legal certainty and the protection of family rights. This research is a normative legal research with legislative, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The primary legal materials analyzed include Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage as amended by Law Number 16 of 2019, Law Number 7 of 1989 concerning Religious Courts as amended last by Law Number 50 of 2009, and the Compilation of Islamic Law. The legal material is analyzed together with Islamic legal literature and relevant legal doctrines through systematic and conceptual legal interpretation techniques. The results of the study show that divorce outside the court does not have legal force in the national legal system because it does not meet the procedures determined by laws and regulations, while according to classical fiqh, talaq can be considered religiously valid if it fulfills its principles and conditions. These differences have consequences in the form of uncertainty in legal status, weak protection of women's and children's rights, obstacles to the division of common property, subsequent marriages, and population administration. This research emphasizes that the divorce process through the courts is a form of harmonization between national law and Islamic law through the maqāṣid al-syarī'ah approach which aims to protect family rights while realizing legal certainty. This research is limited to normative analysis of laws and regulations and legal doctrine, so it does not examine empirical practices or concrete decisions of Religious Courts.

Abstract

This study examines how Bugis cultural actors interpret the integration of Pangadereng and Islamic values (sara’) in South Sulawesi, focusing on cultural negotiation, institutional change, and its potential relevance for character education. The study used a qualitative interpretative case study involving six purposively selected informants from cultural, academic, traditional, community, and religious backgrounds. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. Interpretation was supported by historical and Islamic-law literature. No direct analysis of original lontaraq manuscripts was conducted. Pangadereng was understood as a normative cultural order based on ade’, bicara, rapang, and wari’. The incorporation of sara’ did not erase custom, but functioned as an ethical filter for retaining, adapting, or rejecting practices. Islamisation developed through existing political and cultural structures, although contestation and military pressure occurred in some kingdoms. Core values such as siri’ na pesse, sipakatau, sipakalebbi, sipakainge, and sipakamase were considered compatible with Islamic ethics when separated from harmful or prohibited practices. A major current challenge is the weakening of moral meaning across generations. The findings offer a conceptual basis for culturally grounded character education. The study is limited by its small sample, limited geographical and archival scope, absence of direct lontaraq analysis, and lack of school-based data. The study explains Pangadereng–Islam integration as selective ethical filtering, in which local norms are retained, reinterpreted, or rejected through the interaction between adat and sara’.
