Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of digital services, product completeness, and promotional activities on the decision of Gen Z to choose savings in Islamic banks, with a focus on the moderating role of promotions. The research employed a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach to evaluate the relationships between the variables. Data were collected through a survey of Gen Z respondents who are potential customers of Islamic banks. The findings reveal that digital services have a significant direct impact on the decision of Gen Z, while product completeness shows a weaker direct influence. However, when moderated by promotional activities, both digital services and product completeness have a stronger indirect effect on the decision to choose savings in Islamic banks. The study concludes that Islamic banks should enhance their digital services and carefully design promotional strategies to effectively attract Gen Z customers. Product completeness, although less significant on its own, plays a crucial role when coupled with effective promotions. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic banking by examining the role of digital services, product completeness, and promotion in influencing Generation Z’s decision to choose Islamic bank savings. The study highlights the moderating role of promotion in strengthening the relationship between digital services and Gen Z decision-making. The findings provide practical insights for Islamic banks to develop digital-based services and targeted promotional strategies to attract young customers.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of classroom management and teachers’ teaching styles in enhancing the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in public senior high schools in Buton Regency. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation, prolonged observation, and increased persistence. The findings show that effective classroom management involves organizing the classroom, enforcing rules, building positive relationships, understanding students’ backgrounds, mastering materials, and applying engaging and varied teaching methods with clear deadlines. Teachers adopt facilitator, demonstrative, collaborative, technology-based, personalized, and interactional styles. Supporting factors include curriculum, facilities, teachers, and students, while challenges arise from student issues, teacher limitations, and family background. This study contributes to improving classroom management and teaching strategies in IRE learning. However, it is limited to a specific regional context and qualitative design. This study highlights the integration of classroom management and diverse teaching styles in improving IRE learning effectiveness in a local educational context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of religiosity, access to capital, and entrepreneurial knowledge on the financial performance of street vendors at the Al-Alam Mosque, Teluk Kendari. This study adopts a quantitative approach using a census method involving 75 street vendors. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. Qualitative information was also used to support the interpretation of the findings. The results show that religiosity (t = 2.883; p = 0.008), access to capital (t = 2.226; p = 0.035), and entrepreneurial knowledge (t = 2.457; p = 0.021) each have a positive and significant effect on financial performance. Simultaneously, these variables also have a significant effect (F = 30.303; p = 0.000). This indicates that improvements in religiosity, access to capital, and entrepreneurial knowledge enhance the financial performance of street vendors. This study provides implications for policies aimed at empowering street vendors through strengthening religious values, improving financial access, and enhancing entrepreneurial capacity. However, the study is limited to a single location. This study contributes by integrating religiosity with economic factors in explaining the financial performance of street vendors within a mosque-based economic environment.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of digital waqf and its role in empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within the Islamic economics framework, identifying dominant thematic clusters, integration models, and structural barriers shaping digital waqf development during 2020–2025. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) employing the PRISMA 2020 protocol was conducted across Scopus, Google Scholar, and Sinta databases. Structured Boolean searches yielded 487 initial records, of which 57 peer-reviewed articles met all inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis followed Braun and Clarke's (2006) framework, complemented by bibliometric mapping using VOSviewer. Four thematic clusters were identified: digital waqf and SDGs, innovative instruments (CWLS and CWLD), Islamic fintech integration, and productive waqf-based MSME empowerment. The most effective integration model combines Cash Waqf Linked Deposit (CWLD), Shariah crowdfunding, blockchain infrastructure, and holistic MSME mentoring. Implementation is constrained by five structural challenges: regulatory gaps, low Nazhir digital capacity, insufficient public waqf literacy, unequal technological infrastructure, and unresolved Shariah-technology harmonization. This study provides important implications for both theory and practice in Islamic economics. Theoretically, it advances the integration of digital waqf, Islamic fintech, and MSME empowerment within a unified analytical framework, contributing to the development of Islamic Social Finance 2.0 and the operationalization of maqāṣid al-sharī'ah in the digital era. Practically, the findings offer strategic guidance for policymakers, Islamic financial institutions, and nazhir organizations to strengthen regulatory frameworks, enhance digital capacity, and expand inclusive financing mechanisms for MSMEs through scalable digital waqf models. Additionally, this study highlights the need for multi-stakeholder collaboration to overcome structural barriers and accelerate the transformation of waqf into a sustainable instrument for socio-economic development. This study delivers the most comprehensive English-language SLR on digital waqf and MSME empowerment in the Indonesian context, introducing the original Digital Waqf–Fintech–MSME Empowerment Nexus model.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of Islamic education within the Darud Da’wah wal-Irsyad (DDI) network in Eastern Indonesia as a medium for developing social immunity through religious authority and pedagogical practices. The study aims to explore how Islamic education within the DDI network promotes moderate religious understanding, how the authority of teachers and religious scholars regulates religious discourse, and how institutional and cultural mechanisms within Islamic education contribute to building non-radical communities. This research employs a qualitative approach using qualitative content analysis. Data were collected through the examination of educational documents, including curricula and institutional materials, as well as semi-structured interviews with key educational actors such as institutional leaders, teachers, and alumni. The analysis focuses on identifying value orientations, normative assumptions, and social practices that shape moderate religious perspectives. The findings reveal that Islamic education within the DDI network functions as an effective social infrastructure for cultivating social immunity against radicalism. The authority of teachers and religious scholars grounded in scholarly legitimacy and cultural influence plays a central role in translating moderate Islamic values into curricula, daily educational practices, and community-based religious outreach. The study concludes that Islamic educational institutions and religious organizations hold strategic importance in strengthening social resilience and promoting preventive approaches to radicalism that prioritize community development rather than security-centered responses. The originality of this study lies in its conceptualization of Islamic education as a form of “social immunity,” highlighting how religious authority, institutional culture, and pedagogical practices interact to create community-based resilience against radical ideologies, particularly within the educational network of DDI in Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the character education values embedded in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) textbooks used at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level, focusing on how these values are represented across different subject areas. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design. The primary method used is content analysis to systematically examine the textual content of officially published PAI textbooks by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The analysis covers four subjects: Al-Qur’an Hadith, Aqidah Akhlak, Fiqh, and Islamic Cultural History (SKI), particularly for Grade 8. The findings reveal that the textbooks incorporate five core character values promoted in the Strengthening Character Education (PPK) program: religious, nationalist, independent, mutual cooperation, and integrity. Among these, religious values are the most dominant and consistently emphasized across all subjects, particularly in relation to faith, worship, and moral behavior. However, other values such as nationalism and independence are not evenly distributed and tend to receive less emphasis in certain subjects. This study is limited to the analysis of Grade 8 PAI textbooks and does not include empirical validation through classroom implementation or student outcomes. Nevertheless, the findings provide important implications for curriculum developers and educators to ensure a more balanced integration of character values across all subjects in Islamic education. This study offers originality by specifically examining the integration of character education values across multiple PAI subject areas within Madrasah Tsanawiyah textbooks, which has not been extensively explored in previous research. It contributes to the development of more systematic and comprehensive character education in Islamic educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the renewal of cash waqf regulations in Indonesia, analyze their implementation in the management and development of waqf assets at the Insan Qur’ani Indonesia Foundation in Pamekasan, and identify the socio-economic impacts of such implementation. This research employs a qualitative field research approach with a socio-legal perspective. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving key informants within the foundation. The findings indicate that the renewal of waqf regulations, particularly after the MUI Fatwa (2002), Law No. 41 of 2004, and Government Regulation No. 42 of 2006, has significantly transformed the paradigm of waqf management in Indonesia. The implementation of cash waqf at the Insan Qur’ani Foundation has enhanced community awareness, supported the development of productive waqf in sectors such as agriculture, trade, and livestock, and contributed to expanding access to education and employment opportunities. This study is limited to a qualitative case study approach within a single institution; therefore, future research is recommended to conduct broader empirical studies across different regions and institutions to validate these findings. This study provides a socio-legal analysis of the practical implementation of cash waqf in a pesantren-based institution, offering empirical insights into productive waqf governance at the local level in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of PSAK 107 in gold rahn products at the Islamic pawnshop, Kendari Branch, focusing on assessing sharia accounting compliance, financial reporting transparency, and alignment with DSN–MUI Fatwa No. 26/DSN-MUI/III/2002. This research adopts a qualitative approach by integrating in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation analysis of financial reports and operational practices within the pawnshop institution. The study finds that the recognition and measurement of rahn receivables and ijarah income comply with PSAK 107. However, disclosure remains limited due to centralized reporting. Differences in staff understanding and minor inconsistencies with DSN–MUI Fatwa No. 26/DSN-MUI/III/2002 indicate the need for better alignment and internalization of sharia principles. This study is limited to a single branch, which may restrict the generalizability of findings. Nevertheless, it provides important implications for improving human resource capacity, enhancing localized reporting mechanisms, and strengthening the alignment between accounting standards and sharia fatwas to improve transparency and accountability. This research contributes to the limited empirical literature on the implementation of PSAK 107 in rahn practices, particularly at the branch level, and highlights critical gaps between regulatory frameworks and operational realities in Islamic pawnshop institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of business digitalization on Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) performance in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, while investigating the mediating roles of SME characteristics and owner-manager attributes. It also incorporates a sharia economic perspective by exploring how halal compliance, ethical business practices, and Islamic value-based governance support sustainable SME performance within the regional Islamic economic ecosystem. Employing a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, this research collected quantitative data from 387 SME owner-managers through stratified random sampling across 17 districts/cities in Southeast Sulawesi. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 4.0 analyzed the hypothesized relationships. Qualitative data from 24 in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 6 groups (8–10 participants each) enriched the quantitative findings, including insights into the adoption of halal practices and sharia-based business principles. Results reveal that business digitalization significantly and positively affects SME performance (β = 0.489, t = 9.847, p < 0.001). Owner-manager characteristics demonstrate substantial direct effects on digitalization (β = 0.412, t = 8.234, p < 0.001), while SME characteristics show moderate effects (β = 0.287, t = 5.642, p < 0.001). The external environment partially moderates the digitalization-performance relationship (β = 0.156, t = 3.127, p < 0.01). The model explains 52.4% of the variance in SME performance (R² = 0.524) with strong predictive relevance (Q² = 0.387). From a sharia perspective, SMEs that integrate halal certification, ethical compliance, and trust-based transactions tend to demonstrate stronger performance and market acceptance. This study contributes to the limited literature on SME digitalization in Indonesian emerging markets by providing empirical evidence through rigorous PLS-SEM analysis. The integration of Actor-Network Theory with technology adoption frameworks offers a novel theoretical lens for understanding digitalization dynamics in resource-constrained contexts. Furthermore, by embedding Islamic economic principles, this study highlights the role of sharia compliance in enhancing SME competitiveness, supporting the development of a sustainable and inclusive halal economic ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences and compare the average financial performance between Islamic Commercial Banks and Conventional Banks using six financial ratios: Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) as a proxy for capital, Non-Performing Loan (NPL) for asset quality, Return on Assets (ROA) for profitability, Return on Equity (ROE) for profitability from equity, Operational Efficiency Ratio (BOPO), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) for liquidity. This research employs a quantitative descriptive approach using secondary data derived from financial statements of banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The analysis technique applied is the Independent Sample T-test to examine the differences in the average financial performance between Islamic and conventional banks. The results indicate that there are significant differences in the average financial performance between Islamic and conventional banks in terms of CAR, NPL, and BOPO. However, no significant differences are found in ROA, ROE, and LDR. Based on mean values, Islamic banks demonstrate better performance in CAR and ROA, while conventional banks outperform in NPL, ROE, BOPO, and LDR. Overall, conventional banks show superior financial performance compared to Islamic banks, which is attributed to their longer operational experience and more established market presence. This study contributes to the comparative financial performance literature by providing empirical evidence on the relative strengths and weaknesses of Islamic and conventional banking systems in Indonesia using multiple financial indicators. It offers valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and academics in evaluating the competitiveness and development of the Islamic banking sector.
