Abstract

Multicultural education plays an important role in managing the diversity of culture, ethnicity, and religion in pluralistic societies such as Indonesia. However, in practice, religious education is often taught from an exclusive perspective that may overlook the importance of appreciating diversity. Therefore, this study aims to explore the meaning of multicultural education within the framework of Islamic educational philosophy. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources, including books, scientific journals, and other academic documents related to multicultural education and Islamic educational philosophy. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that multicultural education in the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy emphasizes values such as tolerance, equality, justice, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence. These values are rooted in the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith, which encourage humans to live harmoniously in diversity. Furthermore, multicultural education in Islamic education aims to develop individuals who are not only religious but also open-minded, inclusive, and capable of interacting constructively within a pluralistic society. The integration of multicultural values into Islamic education is expected to strengthen social harmony and prevent potential conflicts arising from cultural and religious differences.

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental subject that plays an important role in developing students’ logical, systematic, and critical thinking skills. However, many elementary school students still experience difficulties in understanding basic mathematical concepts, particularly addition operations. These difficulties are often caused by the abstract nature of mathematical concepts and the limited use of concrete learning media during the learning process. Therefore, the use of innovative learning media is needed to help students understand mathematical concepts more effectively. This study aims to describe the use of addition pot media in improving the addition skills of grade IIB students at MIS Mutiara Aulia. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of the study were 25 students of class IIB at MIS Mutiara Aulia. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques during the learning process. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the use of addition pot media can increase students’ interest and participation in mathematics learning. The colorful and concrete media helps students understand the concept of place value in addition operations more clearly, particularly in addition with regrouping. In addition, the integration of Problem Based Learning encourages students to actively participate in solving problems during the learning process. Therefore, the use of addition pot media can be considered an effective learning strategy to improve students’ addition abilities in elementary school mathematics learning.

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental discipline that plays an important role in developing logical and systematic thinking skills. However, many students experience difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts, particularly in matrix operations. These difficulties often affect students’ ability to solve mathematical problems correctly. Therefore, it is important to analyze students’ learning difficulties in order to identify the factors that hinder their understanding and problem-solving abilities. This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties experienced by eleventh-grade students in solving matrix multiplication problems at SMAK St. Dominikus Tambolaka. The research employed a mixed methods approach that combines quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative method was used to analyze students’ test results, while the qualitative method was used to describe students’ learning difficulties in terms of conceptual, procedural (skills), and principle aspects. The research subjects consisted of all students of class XI Religion at SMAK St. Dominikus Tambolaka. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that students experience three main types of learning difficulties in matrix multiplication. Conceptual difficulties occur when students are unable to identify known and asked information in a problem and do not fully understand the properties of matrix multiplication. Skill difficulties arise when students make errors in performing matrix operations due to lack of accuracy in calculations. Principle difficulties occur when students are unable to recall or apply the correct formula for matrix multiplication. These findings indicate that students’ understanding of matrix multiplication concepts is still relatively low. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to implement more varied learning strategies that emphasize conceptual understanding and provide more practice opportunities in solving matrix multiplication problems.
