Abstract

Religious moderation has become a crucial discourse in responding to the challenges of extremism, intolerance, and polarization in contemporary societies, particularly within the educational sphere. This study aims to analyze the educational interpretation of Qur’anic verses related to religious moderation and to examine their relevance in the context of modern education. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study uses a thematic (maudhu‘i) approach to interpret selected Qur’anic verses that emphasize balance (wasatiyyah), justice (‘adl), tolerance (tasamuh), and inclusivity in human relations. The findings indicate that Qur’anic teachings on moderation are not merely theological concepts but possess strong pedagogical implications, including the development of holistic curricula, dialogical learning models, and value-based character education. In the contemporary educational context, these values are relevant for fostering critical thinking, mutual respect, social harmony, and ethical responsibility among learners in multicultural and pluralistic environments. The study concludes that integrating the educational interpretation of moderation-oriented Qur’anic verses into educational practices can contribute significantly to building inclusive, peaceful, and transformative educational systems. This research offers a conceptual framework for educators and policymakers to embed religious moderation as a foundational value in contemporary education.

Abstract

Islamic pedagogy has a long history rooted in classical scientific traditions and has evolved along with the progress of the times. This study critically analyzes traditional and modern teaching approaches in Islamic education, focusing on relevance, effectiveness, and challenges in their implementation. The research method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study indicate that traditional approaches such as talaqqi and sorogan are still relevant in shaping character and deep understanding of religious knowledge, but face challenges in adapting to the needs of the times. Meanwhile, modern approaches based on technology and interactive methods offer innovative solutions, but need to be integrated with Islamic educational values so as not to lose their essence. This article recommends a hybrid approach that combines the advantages of both methods to improve the effectiveness of learning in contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

Education produces an understanding or thought that can turn people into human beings who can distinguish between good and bad. The understanding of secularism has various impacts on the life of the state and this applies to all countries in the world if they want to apply this understanding. In Indonesia, secularism in education has occurred for a long time, namely during the 19th century when the colonizers ruled the world, they brought tremendous influence on the government order and spiritual order in this country. General and religious education are not balanced and more prominent in general education alone is emphasized. However, in Islam, this is a wrong understanding because it excludes God as the almighty Essence. This study aims to understand the history, the spread of secularism in education in Indonesia, and what steps should be taken in solving this problem. By using a literature study and descriptive approach, it turns out that understanding the secularism of education in Indonesia has a significant impact in the sense that we are difficult to unite if there are differences in education and there is a need for evaluation with a situation that has already taken root.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how the application of direct practice in learning Islamic jurisprudence at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 2 can improve students' understanding of Islamic Islamic jurisprudence material. Learning the jurisprudence of worship, which includes procedures for prayer, zakat, fasting and other acts of worship, is often a challenge for students to understand in depth, because it is generally taught theoretically. Therefore, this research highlights the importance of practice-based learning models in increasing students' understanding of the jurisprudence of worship. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews with fiqh teachers, as well as tests before and after the implementation of religious practices. The results of the research show that learning the jurisprudence of worship which is carried out using a direct practical approach, such as simulating congregational prayers, implementing zakat, and other worship exercises, can increase students' understanding of the correct procedures for worship. In addition, direct practice helps students to better understand the application of fiqh in everyday life. This research contributes to developing a more effective Islamic jurisprudence learning model, by utilizing practical methods to increase students' understanding of religion. It is hoped that the results of this research can become a reference for other Islamic educational institutions in optimizing the learning of Islamic jurisprudence at the madrasah level.
