Abstract

Twelfth-grade students face double pressure between academic expectations and interpersonal dynamics with authority figures. This study aims to analyze the emotional regulation abilities of twelfth-grade students in dealing with interpersonal pressure in the form of reprimands or anger from teachers and parents. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach and involves 110 students as respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire that measured aspects of stress control and emotional regulation strategies. The results showed that the majority of students were in the neutral category (39.1%), while another 39.1% showed positive emotional regulation abilities (agreed and strongly agreed to remain calm), and the remaining 21.9% were identified as vulnerable to stress. These findings reveal that although most students are beginning to achieve late adolescent emotional maturity, most others still have fluctuating and situational emotional stability. The ability to remain calm (just calm) is greatly influenced by cognitive reappraisal strategies. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening emotional literacy and conseling services to help students manage interpersonal pressure without destructive reactions. Assertive communication between teachers, parents, and

Abstract

The implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) positions principal leadership as a critical factor in improving educational quality. This article aims to analyze the strategic role, relevant models, and leadership challenges in strengthening SBM, with a focus on integrating spiritual values in Buddhist schools. Using a qualitative literature study method with thematic analysis of current literature, the results show that principals must act as learning leaders, change agents, and resource managers. The success of SBM requires the synergy of transformational (vision-building), instructional (learning-focused), and distributive (collaborative) leadership models. In the Buddhist context, the spiritual values of mettā (loving-kindness), karuṇā (compassion), upekkhā (equanimity), and paññā (wisdom) can be integrated to strengthen the ethical and relational foundations of all three models. Implementation challenges include leadership competency gaps, teacher resistance, limited resources, administrative burdens, and low community participation. Strategies to address these challenges require a holistic approach that goes beyond technical solutions to encompass sustainable capacity building, digitalization, the creation of a supportive school climate, and authentic community partnerships. This article concludes that strengthening MBS is essentially strengthening school leadership that is contextual, integrative, and based on values to achieve holistic education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of short story text learning in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Langsa. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study consisted of Indonesian language teachers and 29 students in class VIII/1. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The focus of this study includes three main aspects, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation of short story text learning. The results of the study indicate that (1) the learning planning is categorized as good because the learning objectives, content, strategies, and assessments are in accordance with the ministry of education and culture regulations, although the relevance to the local context still needs to be improved; (2) the learning implementation is categorized as very good because the teacher carried out the learning activities in accordance with the teaching module, actively involved the students, and concluded the lesson with reflection and evaluation; and (3) the learning evaluation is categorized as good because the teacher conducted assessments of attitude, knowledge, and skills based on the rubric, although self-assessment and peer assessment were not yet implemented optimally. Overall, the implementation of short story text learning in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Langsa was conducted effectively and positively contributed to the students’ literacy development.

Abstract

The results of initial observations conducted by researchers at Watujara Elementary School, East Ende District, Ende Regency, on the social studies learning process showed that: Teachers still dominate learning so that interactions only occur one way. Second, the low strategy in utilizing learning has an impact on reducing students' concentration and attention in learning. Third, learning is teacher-centered, with a lecture learning model for social studies learning, especially in grade V. Fourth, teachers do not explore students' potential. Fifth, learning activities do not stimulate students to learn actively. Fourth, the classroom atmosphere is less pleasant. This has an impact on students' interest in learning and low learning outcomes. Therefore, improvements are needed, namely by implementing the snake and ladder game media. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques use observation techniques, questionnaires, tests, documentation, and field notes. The collected data are analyzed descriptively qualitatively and descriptively quantitatively. The results of the study indicate that the snake and ladder game media can increase interest in learning and learning outcomes. This can be seen from the percentage of student learning interest observations that reached the moderately active and very active categories, from 51% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. The percentage of student learning interest questionnaires that reached the moderately interested and very interested categories increased from 60% in Cycle I to 85% in Cycle II. Learning outcomes also increased from 54% in Cycle I to 100% in Cycle II.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the literacy crisis in Indonesian language education, reflected in the low level of critical reading skills among Generation Z students. Exposure to digital media has shaped fast and surface-level reading habits, leading to shallow text interpretation. The study aims to analyze how Generation Z constructs the meaning of reading in Indonesian language learning and to identify factors influencing this construction. Theoretically, this research contributes to constructivist literacy studies; practically, it offers recommendations for strengthening critical literacy-oriented teaching strategies. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design involving 25 eleventh-grade students at a public senior high school in Medan, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of students’ reading assignments. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, thematic categorization, and interpretative conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that most students perceive reading as an academic obligation oriented toward grades rather than as a reflective process of constructing critical understanding. Fragmented reading patterns influenced by digital content consumption highlight the need for more dialogic and contextual Indonesian language learning strategies.
