The accelerating integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithmic decision systems into scouting, officiating, health monitoring, classification, and media representation has transformed athlete evaluation and governance, yet their implications for historically marginalised groups remain fragmented across disciplines. This systematic literature review examines how AI and algorithmic governance intersect with social inequality in sport, focusing on gender, race and ethnicity, disability and Para-sport, inclusion, accessibility, participation, and athlete rights. Following PRISMA 2020, a Scopus search identified 790 records; after screening and eligibility assessment, 10 studies met the inclusion criteria, with 50 additional sources providing contextual evidence. Eligible studies were English-language peer-reviewed articles and reviews published between 2016 and 2026. Two independent reviewers conducted screening and data extraction, achieving high inter-rater reliability (Cohen's κ = 0.86). Inductive thematic synthesis addressed how algorithmic governance shapes equity, reproduces bias, and informs governance responses. Four themes emerged: algorithmic talent identification may reinforce digital determinism and disadvantage under-represented athletes; AI-based health monitoring raises concerns regarding consent, autonomy, and sensitive data governance; machine-learning applications in Para-sport improve classification but remain constrained by limited datasets; and computational analyses reveal both discrimination and AI's capacity to detect it. The review proposes an equity-oriented framework and highlights priorities for explainable, auditable, participatory, and inclusive AI governance in sport.

Rapid adoption of wearable sensors, biometric monitoring and AI has dramatically changed the athlete monitoring scene in high-level sports, with performance maximisation and injury prevention significantly improved alongside emergence of privacy, autonomy and data governance-related issues. This systematic literature review combines the latest research on the digital surveillance aspect and athlete privacy in top sports and high-performance sport while particularly examining the ethical, legal and governance effects of data-driven monitoring. The review method strictly followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Initially 748 research records found on a Scopus database with a structured search and after the screening process, 10 peer-reviewed publications satisfied all inclusion criteria. The articles selected for the review covered the topics of monitoring via surveillance, privacy, consent, autonomy or governance issues. Thematic synthesis uncovered three key areas: First, through extensive data collection, continuous biometric and location monitoring has enabled the organization to exercise a great amount of control over the athletes. Second, due to the employment dependence and high-level pressure of athlete competition, the athletes' free will is highly limited and even the athletes' privacy in terms of information they can provide or know about their data is very limited. Third and finally, privacy-preserving technologies, data co-ownership, data sovereignty frameworks and similar governance tools are still in rudimentary states and not able to follow the speed of development of the technology. Besides being the review paper on technology-aided monitoring in sports, this paper relates the changes within sports to the general theory around how our lives become data-centric and our activities are watched. Also, it underscores the importance of procedures for obtaining valid consent, limitation of data collection and use to specific purposes and having external auditors or authorities to carry out independent checkups or oversight. Research is urged to focus on producing athlete-centred evidence, examining different governing models, comparing regulations in different countries and helping to establish the ethical digital monitoring for elite sports.

Kondisi fisik dan keterampilan teknis sering dianggap sebagai faktor utama yang menentukan performa atlet bela diri. Namun, penelitian terkini menunjukkan bahwa faktor psikologis, khususnya persepsi situasional dan motivasi, turut berperan penting dalam keterampilan bertanding. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh langsung dan tidak langsung kecerdasan intelektual (IQ), persepsi situasional, dan motivasi terhadap keterampilan bertanding atlet remaja pencak silat. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis jalur (path analysis). Sampel terdiri atas 20 atlet pencak silat usia 13–17 tahun yang dipilih secara purposive dari program pembinaan POPDA Kabupaten Rokan Hulu, Riau. IQ diukur menggunakan Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT), sedangkan persepsi situasional dan motivasi diukur melalui kuesioner yang telah memenuhi kriteria validitas dan reliabilitas (Cronbach’s alpha = 0,901 dan 0,908). Keterampilan bertanding dinilai menggunakan rubrik observasi pertandingan yang terstandar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi situasional berpengaruh langsung dan signifikan terhadap keterampilan bertanding (β = 0,858; p = 0,001) serta memiliki pengaruh tidak langsung melalui motivasi (β = 0,301). Motivasi juga berpengaruh langsung dan signifikan terhadap keterampilan bertanding (β = 0,540; p = 0,034). Sebaliknya, IQ tidak menunjukkan pengaruh langsung maupun tidak langsung yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan bertanding. Secara simultan, ketiga variabel prediktor menjelaskan 64,8% variasi keterampilan bertanding atlet (R² = 0,648). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa persepsi situasional dan motivasi merupakan prediktor yang lebih kuat dibandingkan IQ dalam menjelaskan keterampilan bertanding atlet remaja pencak silat. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan aspek psikologis perlu menjadi perhatian dalam proses seleksi dan pembinaan atlet pencak silat.

Small-sided games (SSG) and analytic drills are widely used to develop fundamental football skills, yet their effectiveness may depend on player characteristics. This study examined the influence of agility on the effectiveness of SSG and drill training for passing, control, and dribbling skills in youth football players. A quasi-experimental 2 × 2 factorial design was employed involving 28 male players aged 10–13 years from SSB Imam Bonjol Padang. Participants were classified into high- and low-agility groups based on Illinois Agility Test scores and assigned to either an SSG or drill training program. Training was conducted over 16 sessions during a 12-week period. Passing-control and dribbling skills were assessed using validated field-based tests. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA followed by Tukey HSD post-hoc tests (α = .05). Results showed significant main effects of training method on passing-control (F(1,24) = 6.10, p = .021, η²p = .20) and dribbling (F(1,24) = 9.09, p = .006, η²p = .28). Significant interactions between training method and agility were also found for passing-control (F = 10.13, p = .004, η²p = .30) and dribbling (F = 14.03, p < .001, η²p = .37). Drill training was more effective for high-agility players, whereas SSG produced better outcomes for low-agility players. These findings suggest that agility moderates training effectiveness, highlighting the importance of individualized practice design in youth football development.

This systematic literature review summarises the evidence regarding the relationships between climate change, environmental justice, and inequality as regards organised sport, physical activity, and sport governance. A Scopus database of papers was built using a structured search and following the PRISMA 2020 guidance. Two independent reviewers conducted study screening and data extraction, achieving substantial agreement (Cohen's κ = 0.86). Methodological quality was assessed using the FICO framework, and findings were synthesized through thematic synthesis following Thomas and Harden. The search covered publications indexed in Scopus between January 2020 and March 2025.Altogether, 965 records were identified, 10 of which were eventually selected through screening and eligibility. Three different categories have appeared. Climate change effects such as extremely hot weather and the disappearance of winter sport opportunities are first on the list of the most severe and devastating ones. That is, the poorest countries, small island states, and disadvantaged people suffer the most as these communities have little or no possibility to protect themselves. Secondly, the sports governing bodies and other initiatives that pursue a sustainable development path, such as the Sustainable Development Goals or the Environmental, Social and Governance practices, will reproduce unjust distributions and procedural and recognition disparities if they do not take equity as a key issue explicitly. Third, unequal access to a variety of sporting facilities, green parks as well as clean and safe public places further worsens the disparity of people's health outcomes and sporting participation. The paper draws upon sport ecology, environmental sociology, and the capability approach as theoretical frameworks. In the closing remark, the authors point out major avenues for equitable adaptation, planning of inclusive sporting facilities, a just sports system, all of which can be further explored in Global South and other intersectional settings.

This study employed a systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A thematic synthesis approach based on Thomas and Harden (2008) was used to integrate findings across studies. Two independent reviewers performed study screening and quality appraisal using the FICO framework, with disagreements resolved through discussion to ensure methodological consistency. We followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A structured search on Scopus gave us 1, 281 records published between 2022 and 2025. We removed three duplicates and screened the remaining 1, 278 titles and abstracts. That led to 72 full-text articles that we assessed. Ten of those made it into our qualitative synthesis. The included studies represented diverse marginalized populations, including people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, refugees, socioeconomically disadvantaged communities, women, and older adults. We appraised study quality using the FICO framework and analyzed the data through thematic synthesis. Three themes emerged. First, barriers are multidimensional. They span structural, economic, spatial, cultural, and interpersonal factors. Second, the benefits of sport depend on prior inclusion. Sport tends to reflect social integration rather than create it. Third, inclusion policies can unintentionally reinforce inequalities because they often rest on assimilationist ideas. Pulling together perspectives from social inclusion, social capital, intersectionality, capability, and social-ecology, the review highlights the need for equity-focused, intersectional, community-driven approaches. Looking ahead, research should prioritize longitudinal studies, intersectional analyses, work from the Global South, and community-led projects.

Shooting accuracy is a crucial determinant of scoring success in soccer. However, many youth football development programs continue to rely on repetitive training methods that may reduce player engagement and limit technical skill development. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a drilling-based shooting training model for junior soccer players in Football Schools (Sekolah Sepak Bola [SSB]) in West Sumatra, Indonesia. This research employed a research and development (R&D) approach using an adapted six-stage Borg and Gall framework, including needs analysis, product design, expert validation, revision, field testing, and effectiveness evaluation. The model was validated by experts in football coaching, research methodology, and language. Small-scale and large-scale field trials involved 12 and 25 players, respectively, with support from three coaches. Effectiveness was assessed using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 20 players aged 13–17 years. Shooting performance was measured using the Shoot at Goal test and analyzed with a paired-samples t-test. Expert validation demonstrated high feasibility, with an average validity score of 88.96%. Practicality scores ranged from 87.50% to 100.00% across field trials, indicating that the model was highly practical and applicable. Players’ shooting performance improved significantly, with mean scores increasing from 8.25 (SD = 2.43) at pretest to 14.80 (SD = 2.97) at posttest. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference, t(19) = 12.71, p < .001, accompanied by a very large effect size (d = 2.84). The drilling-based shooting training model is valid, practical, and effective for improving shooting performance among junior soccer players. The model offers a structured and replicable approach to developing fundamental shooting skills in youth soccer training.

Motion capture (mocap) telah menjadi salah satu teknologi kunci dalam produksi animasi digital kontemporer, namun struktur intelektual dan arah perkembangan risetnya belum banyak dipetakan secara sistematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis struktur pengetahuan global pada domain motion capture dalam produksi animasi digital melalui pendekatan bibliometrik. Data bersumber dari basis data Scopus dengan strategi pencarian Boolean pada bidang title-abstract-keyword yang menggabungkan istilah motion capture dan animasi, dibatasi pada rentang tahun 2021–2025, jenis sumber jurnal, jenis dokumen artikel, dan tahap publikasi final, sehingga diperoleh 229 dokumen. Analisis dilakukan terhadap tren publikasi, sumber jurnal, sitasi, kata kunci, serta visualisasi VOSviewer berupa density, overlay, dan network visualization. Hasil menunjukkan tren publikasi meningkat tajam pada 2024–2025, dengan Computer Graphics Forum dan ACM Transactions on Graphics sebagai jurnal dominan. Struktur kata kunci menunjukkan tiga orientasi tematik utama, yaitu rekonstruksi dan pemrosesan gerak berbasis deep learning, animasi karakter dan kontrol fisik, serta aplikasi lintas domain seperti realitas virtual, avatar, dan bahasa isyarat. Studi ini mengidentifikasi kesenjangan penelitian pada integrasi motion capture dengan pedagogi produksi animasi serta pada representasi geografis riset di luar kawasan dominan. Novelty penelitian ini terletak pada pemetaan konvergensi antara evolusi teknis motion capture dan konteks produksi animasi digital sebagai satu kesatuan struktur pengetahuan, bukan sekadar tinjauan teknologi tunggal. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan memberi peta jalan bagi peneliti, pendidik vokasi animasi, dan pengembang teknologi dalam merancang agenda riset lanjutan yang lebih terarah.

This study examined the independent and combined contributions of finger-hand grip strength and eye–hand coordination to overhead passing ability among undergraduate students enrolled in a Basic Volleyball Skills course. A quantitative correlational design was employed with 20 male students (from a population of 27) selected through purposive sampling to control for sex-related physical variance. Finger-hand grip strength was measured with a hand-grip dynamometer, eye–hand coordination with a 30-second wall-toss test, and overhead passing ability with a 60-second standardized passing test. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using Shapiro–Wilk normality tests, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple correlation/regression in IBM SPSS Statistics (version 26). All variables were normally distributed (p > 0.05). Finger-hand grip strength showed a very strong, significant positive correlation with overhead passing ability (r = 0.891, p < 0.001, R² = 0.794), while eye–hand coordination showed a strong, significant positive correlation (r = 0.638, p = 0.002, R² = 0.407). Jointly, the two predictors explained 90.7% of the variance in passing performance (R = 0.952, R² = 0.907, F(2,17) = 82.90, p < 0.001), with grip strength contributing the larger standardized weight (β = 0.759) relative to coordination (β = 0.362). These findings extend biomechanical models of ball-contact control to a novel population. The research design being correlational in nature, one should see them mainly as a sign that pre-service coaching volleyball teachers could possibly benefit from adding finger-strength and coordination training to their training programs. Of course, this remains true as long as intervention studies confirm it. The study didn't include reliability coefficients for the three measures and also did not carry out the power analysis. These facts point to a limitation of the research.

The aim of this research was to design and validate the Petanque Test Pointing (PTP). The research design was a product development (R&D), the five-step ADDIE (namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). For content validation, two expert petanque coaches and sport researchers in a related fields were chosen at random. Aiken's V was the content validity coefficient used. Aiken's V was determined as a content validity index of the instrument components and reliability was found by means of test-retest procedure i.e., repeated testing. Content validation across 12 components of PTP resulted in a mean Aiken's V of 0.908, which is above the commonly accepted cutoff point of 0.70 and it indicates an excellent degree of disagreement in the assessment of instrument items. The test-retest reliability was 0.712, which is considered high for an outdoor measure of performance. Conducting the PTP per player on the ground took 10 minutes approximately and no extra equipment was needed. Such characteristics indicate that PTP is a time-efficient and practical testing method, suitable for use among coaches. Therefore, the result is the development of Petanque Pointing Performance Test (PTP), a practical method of measuring pointing skills of petanque players, conducted by the players themselves, on the ground. PTP is validated and reliable as well as user-friendly in that it has been designed for usage in field. It can be used as a tool for an objective standard, a means of evaluation, and selection of petanque players with respect to their pointing skills. The findings present PTP as valid and reliable performance-based field measurement tool useful for assessment and development of petanque athletes pointing skills.
