Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the learning outcomes of junior high school students. This study uses an experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design on grade VIII students. The results showed that students who used the PBL model had higher learning outcomes compared to students who used the conventional learning model. The PBL model can improve student learning outcomes because students are given the opportunity to learn actively and independently. This research shows that the PBL model can be an effective alternative learning model to improve the learning outcomes of junior high school students. By using the PBL model, teachers can help students develop critical and creative thinking skills. This research is expected to be a reference for teachers and other researchers to develop more effective learning models.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has brought significant transformations in the education sector, including secondary education. However, the adoption of AI without a clear ethical framework has the potential to pose risks, ranging from algorithmic bias to violations of student data privacy. This study aims to formulate a framework for responsible digital pedagogy by integrating AI ethical principles into secondary education practices. Through a literature review method, this study examines theories, policies, and global best practices related to AI ethics and its use in learning contexts. The results of the study identify five main elements in the ethical digital pedagogy framework: algorithmic transparency, data protection, access equity, ethical digital literacy, and teacher involvement as critical facilitators. This study emphasizes the need for collaboration between policymakers, educators, and technology developers to create a safe, fair, and socially responsible learning environment in the digital era. This framework is expected to be a reference in the formulation of humanistic AI-based education policies and curricula at the secondary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the development and validity of effective drainage materials. The researchers used a research and development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model that produces new products. The sample of this study was students in the special education class of Tegal Besar Kliwatis Jember. The teaching material developed was the book “Basic Theory of the Beginner Level Albidayah Method” by Abdul Haris which then produced a new product in the form of a book “Sharf Science Dialogue (Tasrif Lughawi & Istilahi)” with the application of questions and answers between teachers and students. Then to collect the required data, researchers used observation, interviews, and documents for qualitative data. From this study, two results were obtained (1) The product validity value obtained from the teaching material expert was 94% and from the media expert was 94%, which indicates that the learning method using question and answer by the teacher-student is feasible to use. (2) The level of effectiveness is calculated using pre-test and post-test with t-test analysis.  The result obtained is 10.215 and this result is more than t0.025;9 which means H0 is rejected. This shows that there is a significant effect before and after using the product to teach and apply morphology.

Abstract

The global educational transformation triggered by the emergence of generative artificial intelligence has demanded a fundamental redefinition of teacher competencies. This study aims to re-examine the pedagogical competencies needed by teachers in facing the era of generative AI, using a literature review approach to the latest international scientific sources. This study explores how artificial intelligence is changing the traditional role of teachers, highlighting the need for new skills such as advanced digital literacy, ethical use of technology, collaborative creativity, and adaptive abilities to AI-based learning ecosystems. The findings of this study indicate that future teacher competencies must not only include technological skills, but also a deep understanding of the critical, ethical, and contextual integration of AI into teaching practices. This study also identifies global challenges such as the digital divide, lack of continuous professional training, and the need for educational policies that are responsive to technological developments. Thus, the redefinition of teacher competencies is not just a technical demand, but a strategic process in creating a fair, inclusive, and sustainable pedagogical transformation amidst digital disruption.

Abstract

The integration of pictures in English Language Teaching (ELT) has been widely recognized as an effective tool to enhance students' comprehension, engagement, and motivation. This study aims to systematically review the existing literature on the use of pictures in ELT, analyzing their effectiveness, benefits, and challenges. A systematic review method was employed following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The study involved searching academic databases such as Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Mendeley, Taylor & Francis Online, Google Scholar, and Google Books, focusing on articles published between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal that pictures significantly contribute to improving students' vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Additionally, pictures help create an interactive and engaging learning environment. However, challenges such as selecting culturally appropriate images and ensuring proper implementation in diverse classroom settings remain. This study highlights the importance of carefully integrating pictures into ELT to maximize their pedagogical potential. Future research should explore innovative ways to optimize the use of pictures in digital learning platforms and assess their long-term impact on language proficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the values of multicultural education contained in thematic textbooks of elementary school through literature review. The method used is library research with content analysis technique on thematic textbooks of elementary school curriculum 2013 and other supporting literature. The results showed that the elementary thematic textbooks have integrated various multicultural values such as tolerance, pluralism, democracy, humanism, justice, and equality. These values are spread in various learning themes and subthemes, both explicitly and implicitly through stories, illustrations, and student activities. The integration of these multicultural values supports the creation of an inclusive and harmonious learning environment, and is relevant to the national education objectives to shape the character of learners who are able to coexist in a pluralistic society. However, there are still some values that are not evenly distributed throughout the themes, so continuous evaluation and development of thematic elementary textbooks are needed.

Abstract

Character education is one of the main focuses in developing human resources in the 21st century. Amid the challenges of globalization, moral degradation, and technological disruption, teachers are seen as key actors who play a role in transferring knowledge and internalizing ethical values to students. This study aims to review the literature related to the role of teachers in the development of character education in schools. The method used is a qualitative literature study that reviews scientific articles, books, and relevant policy documents, both national and international. Thematic analysis is used to identify the roles, strategies, challenges, and implications of the role of teachers in character education. The study results show that teachers' role in character education is divided into three main dimensions, namely as value educators, role models, and facilitators of the learning environment. The strategies used include the integration of character values in the curriculum, habituation of positive behavior, moral reflection, and creating a supportive school culture. The challenges include limited conceptual understanding of teachers, administrative burden, limited time, and lack of support from parents and the community. This literature review also emphasizes that successful teachers in developing character education consistently show examples, have pedagogical competence, and receive policy and institutional support. These findings align with various theories of moral education, which place teachers as the main role models in shaping students' character. Conceptually, this research strengthens teacher capacity through training, supervision, and collaboration with parents and the community. Practically, the study results can be a reference for schools, policymakers, and educational institutions in designing strategies to strengthen character education that are more effective and contextual. Thus, it can be concluded that the teachers' role is crucial in character education development. Systematic efforts through exemplary learning integration and support of the education ecosystem are key to producing a generation that is intellectually intelligent and has strong moral integrity.
