Abstract

This study examines the scope of Islamic philosophy of science—ontology (the essence of science as God's creation encompasses four realms of reality centered on monotheism), epistemology (the sources of revelation—the Qur'an/Sunnah supplemented by reason/the senses/bayani-burhani-'irfani methods, including Al-Ghazali's Nine-Stage System), and axiology (ethics of revelation for caliphate and eternal happiness)—in the context of contemporary Islamic education. Historically, the evolution began with the synthesis of Al-Kindi/Farabi/Sina (early classical), the critique-synthesis of Al-Ghazali/Khaldun (middle), to the ijtihad of Abduh, the Islamization of al-Attas, the perennialism of Nasr (contemporary), and the Islamist deconstruction of Ramadan in the digital age (modern). Using descriptive library research methods with content analysis of national/international journals, this comparative study identifies a paradigm shift: from normative texts to rational-critical-integrative ones, supporting blended learning, AI ethics, and a holistic curriculum that prevents secularization for the sake of intellectually and morally competitive insan kamil. The findings affirm the philosophy of science as a bridge between revelation and empirical reason, relevant to globalization/technology, with implications for the formation of an adaptive Islamic civilization based on tawhid.

Abstract

Understanding English instructions is an essential part of classroom communication because it helps students follow learning activities effectively. However, many ninth-grade students still face difficulties in comprehending English instructions given by their teachers. This gap between the teacher’s intention and students’ understanding often leads to confusion and misbehavior in the classroom. Therefore, this study aims to explore the difficulties faced by ninth-grade students in understanding English instructions in the classroom at SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The participants consisted of 30 ninth-grade students selected purposively. The data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that students experienced several types of difficulties: limited vocabulary, unfamiliar pronunciation, lack of listening focus, and dependence on translation into Bahasa Indonesia. The findings also revealed that both internal and external factors influence students’ understanding. It can be concluded that teachers should use simpler language, slower speech, and visual aids to help students comprehend English instructions better.

Abstract

This study aims to examine educational entrepreneurship (edupreneurship) as an innovative dimension in the development of teachers’ professional competence. The study is motivated by the increasing demands of modern education, which require adaptive, creative, and innovative capabilities to respond to dynamic changes. This research employs a library research method by reviewing relevant literature, including academic journals, books, and scholarly articles. The data are analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings indicate that educational entrepreneurship is not merely related to economic activities, but rather emphasizes the ability to create value through innovation, creativity, and decision-making within the educational context. Edupreneurship plays a significant role in transforming learning systems to become more adaptive and responsive. From the teacherpreneur perspective, teachers are not only instructors but also innovators and agents of change. Furthermore, educational entrepreneurship contributes to enhancing teachers’ professional competence, particularly in terms of creativity, independence, and instructional innovation. Therefore, educational entrepreneurship can be considered a strategic approach in developing teachers’ professional competence oriented toward educational innovation.

Abstract

The cultivation of akhlaqul karimah represents a central foundation in Islamic education, particularly within Islamic boarding schools that serve as key institutions for character formation among youth. This study addresses the persistent challenge of students’ difficulties in translating moral values into daily behavior, alongside variations in character education approaches across pesantren contexts. The research aims to describe and evaluate strategies for fostering noble character at Nuurul Khairaat Islamic Boarding School in Rogo Village. A qualitative descriptive-exploratory design was employed, involving the boarding school leader, five teachers, and thirty purposively selected students. Data were collected through two months of participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that character development is implemented through integrated strategies, including habituation of daily worship, teacher role modeling, continuous supervision, enforcement of structured regulations, and the study of classical moral texts contextualized with contemporary values. Established in 2020, Nuurul Khairaat Islamic Boarding School demonstrates measurable progress in shaping students’ character. The effectiveness of these strategies is reflected in improved discipline, mutual respect, and the ability of students to internalize and practice moral values in everyday life, even amid digital-era challenges. This study offers a contextual contribution to the development of adaptive moral education models for emerging Islamic boarding schools in Central Sulawesi.

Abstract

This study discusses the application of Student Centered Learning (SCL) from the perspective of the Prophet Muhammad's hadith through a thematic study of the book Asbab al-Wurud by Imam Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi. The background of this research is the difficulties experienced by educators in Indonesia in implementing the SCL approach mandated by the government, as well as the author's belief that understanding the Prophet's educational process with his companions can overcome these difficulties. This study aims to identify the hadiths in the book Asbab al-Wurud that represent SCL, assess their quality, and classify the types of the Prophet's educational methods related to SCL. This research is a library research with the primary data source being the book Asbab Wurud al-Hadits by as-Suyuthi. Data collection techniques used the documentation method, while data analysis was conducted through hadith takhrij, sanad and matan quality assessment, and pedagogical analysis. The results showed that out of 96 hadiths contained in the book Asbab al-Wurud, there were 20 hadiths (20.8%) in the full SCL category, 22 hadiths (22.9%) in the semi-SCL category, and 56 hadiths (58.3%) in the non-SCL category. Of the 20 hadiths in the full SCL category, the majority are of sahih or hasan quality. The Prophet Muhammad is proven to have used four main types of SCL, namely Problem Based Learning, Case Based Learning, Contextual Based Learning, and Collaborative Learning. This study also finds that the Prophet's educational model cannot be reduced to a single pedagogical label, but rather is an adaptive pedagogy that is flexible and context-responsive, considering the nature of the material, the needs of learners, and educational goals. This research provides historical and theological legitimacy for the implementation of SCL in Islamic educational institutions, while inviting educators to transcend artificial dichotomies between SCL and TCL and to actualize the Prophetic methodological flexibility.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the critical role of work culture and climate in enhancing the performance of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the educational sector. The primary objective of the study is to analyze and describe the work culture and climate at Senior High School (SMA) 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon, Banten, through an Al-Qur'an perspective. This study employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing a thematic (maudhu'i) interpretation approach for Qur'anic analysis combined with exploratory field research. Data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that a productive work culture and a harmonious climate are achieved by implementing four holistic elements derived from Qur'anic signals: integrity (al-amanah), professionalism (al-itqan), responsibility (al-mas’uliyah), and exemplary leadership (al-qudwah). The findings suggest that the integration of Islamic values—such as honesty, loyalty, and mutual respect—significantly increases employee motivation and organizational performance. The study concludes that synergizing religious values with professional duties creates a sustainable and inclusive educational environment, positioning SMA 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon as an inspirational model for other institutions in Banten.

Abstract

Rapid digital transformation has changed parenting patterns, marked by the increasing use of gadgets from an early age, which has the potential to lead to addiction. This study aims to analyze the concept of digital parenting based on Islamic education, identify the causes and impacts of gadget addiction in children, and formulate effective and Islamic-based implementation strategies. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature review method, sourced from the Qur'an, hadith, scientific journals, books, and reports from official institutions. The results of the study indicate that gadget addiction in children is a multidimensional phenomenon influenced by internal, situational, social, and external factors. Its impacts include psychological disorders, physical health, and decreased social interaction, despite the potential for positive aspects in education, communication, and creativity. From an Islamic education perspective, digital parenting emphasizes the integration of Islamic values such as role models (uswah hasanah), supervision (hisbah), self-reflection (muhasabah), and balance (tawazun). Implementation strategies include limiting gadget use, active mentoring, habituating religious activities, increasing parental digital literacy, and utilizing educational applications. Thus, Islamic digital parenting is a comprehensive approach that can overcome gadget addiction while simultaneously shaping children's character with noble morals in the digital era

Abstract

Southern Thailand has experienced a protracted ethno-religious conflict rooted in the 1909 annexation of the Sultanate of Patani, resulting in systematic marginalization of the Malay-Muslim minority and militarization of Islamic educational institutions. This study examines innovations in Islamic education policy aimed at transforming this entrenched conflict through peace education. Employing a systematic literature review methodology, this research analyzes peer-reviewed sources and policy documents published between 2010 and 2024 to investigate three core dimensions: the historical dynamics of conflict and their educational implications, the conceptual foundations of peace education within Islamic pedagogical frameworks, and the implementation outcomes of policy innovations—particularly the mandatory Peace Study curriculum at Fatoni University. The findings reveal that colonial assimilationist policies and post-2004 securitization fundamentally altered Islamic schools from cultural preservation centers into objects of state suspicion. However, recent innovations demonstrate incremental policy learning, integrating core Islamic values of salām (peace), rahmatan lil alamin (mercy to all creation), and tasamuh (tolerance) with Western conflict transformation theories. The mandatory Peace Study at Fatoni University represents the first institutionalized peace education requirement in Thailand, combining theological grounding with practical pedagogical approaches. Despite significant structural advances, sustainability remains constrained by political volatility, institutional capacity deficits, and persistent trust gaps between state institutions and Malay-Muslim communities. This study concludes that sustainable peacebuilding requires not merely curriculum innovation but comprehensive political reconciliation, community-legitimized implementation, and culturally grounded educational reform that respects Patani's collective identity within Thailand's national narrative.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Hidayatullah Organization in fostering community cadres in remote rural areas of Indonesia, particularly in regions with limited access to formal education. The organization implements a comprehensive development model through various non-formal educational activities, such as regular religious study sessions, leadership training, and character-building programs, which are designed to cultivate potential leaders from grassroots communities, including farmers and individuals from modest economic backgrounds. The approach not only emphasizes strengthening religious understanding but also integrates economic empowerment initiatives, such as small-scale business training based on mutual cooperation, as a response to structural poverty in remote areas. Based on case studies conducted in several villages, the program has been shown to enhance community participation in village development, strengthen social cohesion, and produce local figures who actively contribute to driving positive change. Overall, the findings indicate that this development model plays a significant role in reducing development disparities and holds strong potential for replication in other regions with similar characteristics.
