Abstract

Background: Therapeutic communication competence, encompassing active listening, empathy, relationship initiation, information gathering, and interaction closure, is foundational to safe and effective nursing practice. Despite its centrality in nursing education, evidence on competence levels achievable through simulation-based learning prior to clinical exposure remains limited, particularly in Indonesian contexts. Objective: Grounded in Peplau's Interpersonal Relations Theory and Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory, this study assessed therapeutic communication competence levels and examined associations between simulation participation and competence outcomes among first-semester nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive design was employed with 48 first-semester nursing students (total sampling) completing a 14-week Nursing Communication course at Institut Tarumanagara, Jakarta. The culturally adapted Therapeutic Communication Skills Scale–Indonesian Version (TCSS-25; CVI = 0.89, α = 0.86) measured four competence domains. Chi-square tests and Pearson correlations examined associations between role-play participation and competence levels. Results: More than half (58.3%) achieved good competence (mean = 72.8%, SD = 12.4). Active listening and empathy scored highest (76.8%), while closing therapeutic interactions scored lowest (68.5%). Role-play participation significantly predicted competence levels (χ² = 8.92, p = 0.01, Cramér's V = 0.43). Demographic variables showed no significant associations. Conclusion: Simulation-based learning effectively develops therapeutic communication competence in preclinical nursing students; however, the 41.7% who did not achieve good competence warrant targeted interventions, particularly in structured closure skills training and increased role-play engagement.

Abstract

Background: Acne scars are a clinically prevalent and psychologically significant sequela of acne vulgaris, affecting up to 95% of patients and associated with reduced quality of life, social withdrawal, and diminished self-esteem. Despite decades of research, evidence for fat grafting in mixed-type atrophic acne scars remains limited to small case series. Objective: This case report aims to evaluate the short-term clinical outcomes of autologous fat grafting in a 37-year-old female with Goodman and Baron Grade IV mixed-type atrophic acne scars. Methods: This case study identified a 37-year-old female with atrophic acne scars. The tumescent technique was utilized to harvest fat from her abdomen, which was processed into microfat and nanofat using the Lipocube® NanoKit-5 and then injected subcutaneously and applied topically to the patient’s face. The efficacy of the procedures was assessed during different follow-up visits, with an emphasis on scar reduction and dermal regeneration. Results: A significant reduction in edema was clinically observed on Day 4 post-procedure. As this was a single case with a 4-day observation period, no statistical analysis was performed. Descriptive assessment tools were used at baseline and will be repeated at scheduled follow-up visits. Conclusion: Autologous fat transfer using microfat and nanofat is a promising preliminary therapy for atrophic acne scars. It provides cosmetic improvement with low morbidity. However, longer-term evaluation is needed to establish its efficacy. Future studies with larger cohorts and standardized multi-timepoint assessments are warranted to establish the role of this technique in standard dermatological practice.

Abstract

requiring active participation from all groups, including Generation Z as future agents of change. In addition to external factors, individual values such as religious practices may influence pro-environmental behavior. However, studies examining the relationship between religious worship — particularly salat (prayer) and sawm (fasting) — and pro-environmental behavior among Generation Z remain limited. Objective: This study aims to describe the pro-environmental behavior of Generation Z and their practice of salat and sawm, as well as to analyze the relationship between these religious practices and pro-environmental behavior. Method: This research used a correlational approach involving 94 Generation Z students from junior high and senior high schools in DKI Jakarta. The sample was selected using purposive random sampling. Data were analyzed to identify the relationship between salat and sawm practices and pro-environmental behavior. Results: The findings show that Generation Z demonstrates a high level of pro-environmental behavior, as well as high levels of salat and sawm practices. The correlation test results indicate a significant relationship between salat and sawmand pro-environmental behavior. Conclusion: This study concludes that religious practices, particularly salat and sawm, are positively associated with pro-environmental behavior among Generation Z. Therefore, strengthening religious values may contribute to enhancing pro-environmental behavior, as higher levels of worship are associated with higher levels of pro-environmental behavior.

Abstract

Background: Children with special needs (ABK) require integrated education and rehabilitation services involving multiple professions. While facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration is necessary to provide holistic and sustainable services, the actual success of interdisciplinary collaboration in the field, is examined through the lens of communication patterns, roles and responsibilities, and larger systems of practice. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the practices and experiences of professionals with interdisciplinary collaboration in education and rehabilitation services for ABK. Method: This research applies qualitative phenomenological methods. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with eight special education teachers, inclusive classroom teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the participants. Results: The data analysis generated three primary themes: (1) dynamics of communication in collaboration, which includes formal and informal communication, interprofessional coordination, and the importance of team meetings; (2) role and responsibility negotiation, including authority boundaries, overlapping roles, and management of conflict; and (3) structural and systemic issues, such as resource constraints, administrative burden, and heavy workloads. Conclusion: Interdisciplinary collaboration within ABK education and rehabilitation services can be considered an ongoing process driven by the nature of team interaction, negotiation of professional roles, and the organizational climate. Integrated services for children with special needs are less effective than they could be and could benefit from enhanced communication mechanisms, greater role clarity, and stronger institutional support.

Abstract

Background: During this time, I had fit into their narrative as a child and teenager through social media, music, movies, video games, and navigated an ever-evolving field of entertainment that has improved and still fostered emotional connection. In addition, documentary films are an increasingly important avenue for self-representation; however, research examining these works among Indonesian music celebrities is still in its infancy. Objective: This study explores Rossa's intended multi-layered self-presentation strategies in the 2024 documentary All Access to Rossa 25 Shining Years and how audiences from different generations experience them. Methods: A qualitative descriptive design with narrative-visual analysis was used. We conducted thematic analysis (NVivo) of 20 semi-structured audience interviews using an approach based on the Miles et al.  interactive model. Results: Six themes were identified: Front Stage, Back Stage, Impression Strategy, Impression Motivation, Media Construction, and Audience Impact. The authors coined the term "Transcendent Persona Architecture," which is based on authenticity, vulnerability, and integrity. Conclusion: The documentary served as a branding device. Image credibility, emotional integrity, and authenticity could challenge the conventional representation of celebrity images in Indonesian music.

Abstract

Background: Empirical studies on blind box consumption among Generation Z in Indonesia remain limited, particularly regarding the combined roles of curiosity, product variety, and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in shaping impulsive buying and repurchase intention. Objective: This study aims to examine the effects of curiosity, product variety, and FoMO on repurchase intention, with impulsive buying as a mediating variable among Generation Z blind box consumers in Jakarta. Methods: A quantitative research design was employed using non-probability purposive sampling targeting Generation Z consumers in Jakarta who had prior blind box purchasing experience. A total of 413 valid responses were collected via an online questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The findings indicate that FoMO exerts a significant indirect influence on repurchase intention via impulsive buying (t = 2.611 > 1.96). These results underscore the importance of psychological triggers in the blind box industry and provide valuable insights for marketers in leveraging curiosity and social influence to enhance consumer retention. Conclusion: This study confirms that curiosity, product variety, and FoMO positively influence impulsive buying, which in turn significantly predicts repurchase intention among Generation Z blind box consumers in Jakarta. These findings offer actionable implications for marketers seeking to leverage psychological triggers and experiential retail strategies to sustain consumer loyalty.

Abstract

Background: The digital age has fostered the manifestation of online vigilance. Objective: Based on this, the present study seeks to analyze how online vigilance influences the psychological well-being (PWB) of Indonesian students and the influence of student engagement on the relationship between online vigilance and PWB. Methods: This study employed a sample of 504 active undergraduate students in Greater Jakarta as the primary sample population. Prior to the main data collection, instrument adaptation was conducted with 104 pilot participants to assess item clarity and preliminary psychometric properties. Three adapted instruments were used: OVS (Online Vigilance Scale), SES (Student Engagement Scale), and PWB-PERMA (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment). Results: The results indicated that high online vigilance (M = 3.45, β = −0.382, p < 0.001) served as a significant negative predictor of well-being, whereas student engagement was a significant positive predictor of well-being (β = 0.493, p < 0.001). The interaction effect was not significant (β = 0.012, p = 0.118), but simple slope analysis suggested a trend whereby the negative effect of online vigilance was attenuated among students who were highly engaged. Results further indicated that online vigilance was a risk factor, whereas student engagement was a protective factor. Available online 11 October 2023. Conclusion: The protective trend pointed to the need to increase youth literacy on academic engagement to maintain well-being in the digital age.

Abstract

Abstract

Background:  In an increasingly transparent digital business environment, Public Trust and Corporate Transparency have emerged as critical antecedents of Corporate Reputation. However, prior studies have predominantly examined these variables as direct determinants of reputation, with limited attention to Corporate Image as a mediating mechanism, particularly in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in emerging economies. Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of Public Trust and Corporate Transparency on Corporate Reputation, with Corporate Image acting as a mediating variable, in the context of PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur. Methods: This study utilizes Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through WarpPLS, relying on primary data gathered from 400 participants. The primary data were obtained through an online survey disseminated via Pupuk Kaltim's official Instagram account. Results: The results show that both Public Trust and Corporate Transparency have a significant positive effect on Corporate Image, and Corporate Image, in turn, has a significant effect on Corporate Reputation. However, the direct effects of Public Trust and Corporate Transparency on Corporate Reputation were found to be insignificant. The mediation analysis confirms that Corporate Image plays a significant mediating role, indicating that Public Trust and Corporate Transparency influence Corporate Reputation primarily through the formation of a positive Corporate Image. Overall, these findings emphasize that Corporate Reputation is largely shaped by trust-based perceptions and transparent corporate practices that are consolidated through consistent and credible corporate image management. Conclusion: This study highlights the strategic importance of aligning trust-building and transparency initiatives with image
