Abstract

One of the reasons students do not understand mathematical concepts is because mathematics is often introduced as a collection of abstract numbers and formulas. For this reason, it is necessary to use teaching aids that are appropriate to the material being studied, in order to minimize the characteristics of abstract mathematical material. Another reason students experience difficulties in learning mathematics is that the mathematics learning process is still in one direction and the dominance of teacher activity in learning activities so that students are less active in participating in the mathematics learning process. As a result, the expected learning outcomes will be less than optimal and learning activities are felt to be less meaningful and useful for students. Therefore, it takes a learning that can make students active and creative in constructing a problem solving through certain media. From this, research was carried out on learning at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Banda Aceh. This learning was carried out in five stages, namely: (1) Class presentation stage, (2) Group discussion stage and report presentation, (3) Individual test stage, (4) Point determination stage for individual and group development, (5) Award giving stage. This aims to describe student learning outcomes, student activities, teacher activities and student responses to learning activities using domino cards with the STAD type cooperative model. In this study, the population was all students at SD Muhammadiyah 1 consisting of 220 students. Since this is an experimental study, the sample is divided into experimental and control groups. The researcher took class IV A as the experimental class which consisted of 19 students and class IV B which consisted of 20 students as the control group. In summary, based on the research results, the researcher concluded that the STAD type cooperative learning model proved to be a suitable technique that could be used to teach mathematics to students, because it had also been proven through quantitative data analysis. Keywords:  Application; cooperative; STAD models; Learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a deep learning approach in mathematics education focusing on angle material at Muhammadiyah Elementary School 2 Banda Aceh. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method involving 18 students and a mathematics teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings show that the deep learning approach helps students understand the concept of angles deeply through mindful, meaningful, and joyful activities. Supporting factors include student engagement, instructional tools, and teacher guidance, while limiting factors include time constraints and lack of teacher training.Keywords: deep learning, mathematics learning, angles, elementary school

Abstract

The need to refer to culture to make it easier for students to plant mathematical concepts in understanding mathematics learning materials. One of them is a traditional musical instrument. This study aims to identify and analyze ethnomathematical studies on traditional musical instruments and their relation to mathematical concepts. The research method used in this study is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Data collection was carried out by reviewing all articles related to ethnomathematics on traditional musical instruments used published in the period 2016-2021 The articles used in this study were 24 articles in accredited national journals obtained from the Google Schoolar database. The results showed that there were many traditional musical instruments that can be applied in learning mathematics, generally in geometry. Abstract

Number sense of the child has built up since early childhood. Number sense is crucial need to solving mathematics problems. Regarding the component of some number sense in kindergarten student will help teachers design the appropriate instructional learning of mathematics in schools. Purpose of this reasearch is is investigated thecertain number sense characters through arithmetic. The number sense character study number sense component investigated by the understanding of the numbers meaning, number relations and numbers magnitude. All three characters are investigated through arithmetic question of the test. In this research, number sense component investigated by the understanding of the numbers meaning, number relations and numbers magnitude. The results derived from the answers worksheets and interviews were analyzed based on qualitative data. The results of the study showed number of early childhood number sense is (1) the understanding of the numbers meaning in use concrete objects representation of specific numbers, (2) number relations is making sequencing starting from the smallest (quantity) to the greatest, and (3) numbers magnitude that the understanding begins with recognizing the same number. Abstract

ABSTRACKThe presence of ethno-mathematics in mathematics learning provides a new nuance that learning mathematics is not only confined in the classroom but the outside world by visiting or interacting with local culture can be used as a medium for learning mathematics. The research begins with the activity of exploring and examining the potential for the use of religious and cultural sites (artifacts) as learning media for various mathematics teaching materials at the junior high school level using a qualitative approach followed by research and development (RD) methods following the 4D model at the product trial stage. The stages taken are the define stage, the planning stage, the develop stage and the dissemination stage. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews and questionnaires. Validation is carried out by material experts. Based on the results of the validation of the quality stage of the learning media content, it was obtained an average score of 89.46% with the criteria "very appropriate or very feasible". Based on the results of the research the teacher's response to the media obtained an average score of 4.23 where x 3.25 with the criteria "very good". In the trials of students, an average score of 4.55 was obtained where x 3.25 with the criteria "very good". Based on this assessment, the mathematics learning media material of the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) based on Islamic culture can be used as a learning medium.Keywords: Media Development, Based on Islamic Culture of Aceh Besar Community, 4D ModelABSTRAKHadirnya etnomatematika dalam pembelajaran matematika memberikan nuansa baru bahwa belajar matematika tidak hanya terkungkung didalam kelas tetapi dunia luar dengan mengunjungi atau berinteraksi dengan kebudayaan setempat dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian diawali dengan kegiatan mengeksplorasi dan mengkaji potensi pemanfaatan situs (artifaks) agama dan budaya sebagai media pembelajaran untuk berbagai materi ajar matematika di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dilanjutkan dengan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (RD) mengikuti model 4D pada tahapan uji coba produk. Tahapan yang dilakukan yaitu tahap pendefinisian (define), tahap perencanaan (design), tahap pengembangan (develop), dan tahap menyebaran (disseminate). Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara dan angket. Validasi dilakukan oleh ahli materi. Berdasarkan hasil validasi tahap kualitas isi media pembelajaran diperoleh skor rata-rata 89,46% dengan kriteria sangat sesuai atau sangat layak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian respon guru terhadap media diperoleh rata-rata skor sebesar 4,23 dimana x 3,25 dengan kriteria sangat baik. Pada uji coba kepada peserta didik diperoleh rata-rata skor sebesar 4,55 dimana x 3,25 dengan kriteria sangat baik. Berdasarkan penilaian tersebut maka media pembelajaran matematika materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV) berbasis budaya islami dapat dijadikan sebagai media pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: Pengembangan Media, Berbasis Budaya Islami Masyarakat Aceh Besar, Model 4D

Abstract

Reasoning ability is one of the abilities that students must have through high-order thinking processes to solve problems. However, students have not been able to solve problems that require high-order thinking and students have not been able to examine the problems given. This study aims to describe errors and factors that cause students to make mistakes made by MTs students in solving HOTS questions based on mathematical reasoning abilities. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The subjects of this study were 2 students with high category of mathematical reasoning abilities, 2 students in medium category, and 2 students in low category. The research instrument consisted of the researcher himself and test questions as the main instrument followed by an interview guide and tape recorder. Data collection was carried out by written tests and interviews. The technique for checking the validity of the data uses time triangulation, namely giving STKPM1 and STKPM2 at different times. The results of this study indicate that students with high abilities are able to solve HOTS questions correctly without any errors, students with moderate abilities have errors in doing mathematical manipulation, compiling evidence or giving reasons for the correctness of solutions and drawing conclusions from statements. The factor that causes students to make these mistakes is that students do not understand the problems given and make mistakes in calculating. Meanwhile, students with low ability categories have errors in making assumptions, manipulating mathematics, compiling evidence or giving reasons for the correctness of solutions and drawing conclusions from statements. Abstract

The Quantum Teaching learning model is one of the learning models that is able to condition students to learn actively with the TANDUR steps in it. This study aims to determine student activities during learning with the Quantum Teaching learning model on geometry material in class VIII-C SMPIT Al-Fityan School Aceh. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects in this study were 26 students of class VIII-C SMPIT Al-Fityan School Aceh. The instruments in this study were the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKPD), and Student Activity Observation Sheets (LOAS). Furthermore, the data obtained from the results of observations of student activities during the learning activities were analyzed using percentages. The results of the study showed that student activities during the learning process through the application of the Quantum Teaching learning model on geometry material in class VIII-C SMPIT Al-Fityan were in the effective category, meaning that all students were active in learning as expected by the teacher. However, it is expected that teachers can still create dynamic learning conditions so that they can increase students' positive activeness in learning and teachers can also use music when implementing the Quantum Teaching learning model to organize moods, change students' mental states, and support the learning environment

Abstract

Understanding is a translation of the term understanding which is defined as the absorptionof the meaning of a material being studied. This can also be seen in the results of the 2015PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) test, that the mathematical ability ofIndonesian students is at a low level, even 42.3% of students have not yet reached level 1 of6 proficiency levels for mathematics and science and make Indonesia a nation. is in position69 of the 76 participating countries. This research is an exploratory qualitative research thataims to determine students' mathematical understanding ability in solving math problemsbased on students' mathematical abilities. The research method used is descriptive. Thesubjects in this study were 6 students and class X students who had different mathematicalabilities, namely 2 students with high abilities, 2 people with moderate abilities, 2 peoplewith low abilities who were taken at Senior High School 1 MONTASIK school. Thisresearch was conducted to determine the tendency of mathematical understanding abilityaccording to students' ability to solve story problems about a system of linear equations oftwo variables. The results of data analysis show that (1) Students who have a high ability tounderstand mathematical abilities have been able to solve problems properly and correctly,although there are still some who cannot. 2) Students who have moderate ability tomathematical understanding abilities are able to make examples, make what is known andwhat is asked, have not been able to run or operate story problems and are able to makeconclusions. (3) Students who have low ability to understand mathematical abilities havebeen able to make examples, but have not made what is known and asked, run or operatestory problems and make conclusions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of realistic mathematics learning based on ethomathematics and conventional learning on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of junior high school students. The research method use is quasi experiment, with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VII MTsS Darussaadah Cot Tarom, while the sampling was carried out using simple random sampling (by just randomizing the classes) so that class VII.1 was selected as the experiment class using realistic mathematics learning based on etnomathematics and class VII.2 as a control class using conventional learning. Data collection used a test sheet for understanding mathematical concepts which was then analyzed using an independent sample t-test via SPSS. The reserch results obtained that the velue of sig (2-tailed) independent sample t-test 0.0000.05. so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, it can be concluded that the ability to understand mathematical concepts taught using etnomathematical-based realistic mathematical learning is better that the ability to understand mathematical concepts taught using conventional learning. The above conclusions are supported by the fact that during the learning process using realistic mathematics based on ethnomathematical associated whith local culture can increase understanding of awareness and attractiveness so as to increase students understanding of the benefits and concepts of mathematics in everyday life.Keywords: Realistic mathematics learning, Ability undertstanding of mathematical concepts, Ethnomathematics Banda Aceh..

This data analysis uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. This research method is qualitative research with the type of research case study being students and teachers of Class V Elementary School. Data collection on mathematics learning difficulties used direct observation and interview techniques.
