Abstract

The ability to write and communicate Mathematical texts is needed to get a complete of understanding of a material in Mathematics. The ability to write good and correct Mathematics texts can be used as an indication that the writer is not only memorizing but also understanding what is being written and can be used as a measure that the writer understands the storyline that is conveyed to the reader. However, there are still many meaningless sentences and inappropriate use of Mathematical symbols. This can lead to misconceptions and the assumption that what is conveyed is correct according to the rules. In this study, data analysis was carried out qualitatively to review how much change in writing mathematics skills has occurred after a group of students received technical guidance. The results of data analysis and evaluation show that the ability to understand the rules of writing mathematics has an effects in communicating or creating proof of mathematical statements, although qualitatively the changes are not too significant.

Abstract

The implementation of distance learning that was applied during the Covid-19 pandemic simultaneously in all corners of the country has had a different impact on each student. Students who live in urban areas may not experience many obstacles, but it is different from students who live in rural areas. There are many places in the village that are difficult to reach by signals, causing students to be constrained in the online learning process. This study aims to present a mobile learning-based mathematics learning media that can be accessed offline so that it can overcome the problems of students who are in signal-difficult areas. This research is a research and development study using the ADDIE development model. This model has five stages of development, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research was conducted with alpha trials and beta trials. Respondents for the alpha trial were validators and teachers. Respondents for the beta trial are students. The results of research conducted with alpha trials and beta trials indicate that this medium is valid and worthy of use.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the level of student interest in learning the traditional game of engklek in the context of mathematics learning. This research used a qualitative approach and was conducted in Kropak Village, Winong District, Pati Regency. The research subjects consisted of the homeroom teacher and several class V students at SDN Kropak 02. The data collection methods applied included observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses techniques introduced by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data collection, and drawing conclusions. This research focuses on four students out of a total of 20 students in the class. The four students who were research subjects had the initials AA, RR, SW, and PLC, which previously indicated a lack of interest in mathematics subjects. Through observations of student responses and the results of interviews with teachers, it can be concluded that the integration of the traditional engklek game in the learning process is able to generate interest in learning and student involvement. Findings from the research show an increase in student interest in learning, reflected in the high level of student enthusiasm during the learning process. They seemed more enthusiastic and active in participating in learning activities and showed greater interest in the material being taught.

Abstract

Advanced calculus is a mandatory subject in the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Jambi University. Advanced Calculus studies functions of multiple variables, ordinary derivatives, partial derivatives, double integrals, fold integrals, applications of double integrals, triple integrals and applications of triple integrals. CPL from the advanced calculus course includes students being able to develop mathematical thinking starting from procedural/computational understanding to a broad understanding including exploration, logical reasoning, generalization, abstraction and formal proof. One learning model that facilitates students to fulfill the CPL for advanced Calculus courses is the project-based learning model (Project-based Learning). It is hoped that the Project-Based Learning model can be a learning alternative to help students think creatively in learning Advanced Calculus. It is hoped that the creative thinking abilities of Mathematics Study Program students will increase and support the fulfillment of CPL courses which will result in the formation of creative and systematic mathematics students who are skilled in solving problems and have the capabilities and competencies needed by the world of work (industry, services and government). The results of the analysis showed that the creative thinking abilities of students in class R001 were classified as creative and 1 group was very creative, while in R002 all groups were classified as very creative. The conclusions of this research show a tendency for students' creative thinking abilities to be in the creative category.
