Abstract

This study aims to determine how character education is implemented for Generation Z students at SMA Negeri 2 Labuapi. In this study, the researcher adopts a descriptive approach in qualitative research, where data is collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of character education at SMA Negeri 2 Labuapi begins with the school principal organizing a meeting to establish an organization responsible for carrying out tasks related to education and character development. Character education activities start during the School Environment Introduction (PLS), with external speakers such as the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the police, the prosecutor's office, and the military (TNI). Character education is also applied in the classroom to develop positive attitudes such as cooperation, discipline, and mutual respect. Various activities are also carried out to support character education, such as Duha prayer, congregational Zuhr prayer, religious activities (imtaq), Friday charity, flag ceremonies, scouting, environmental cleanliness, and the 5S culture. In conclusion, the implementation of character education for Generation Z is seen to be effective. The program is integrated into the school’s organizational structure, covering the curriculum, student affairs, public relations, and infrastructure. With a holistic approach, SMA Negeri 2 Labuapi successfully shapes positive character traits in Generation Z students through a well-structured and integrated character education program in their daily school life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning styles and self-efficacy on the learning experiences of students in the Biology Education Study Program. The background of this research is based on the importance of understanding the variation in individual characteristics in the learning process, as different learning styles can influence how students receive, process, and remember information. Meanwhile, self-efficacy serves as an internal factor that determines students' belief in their ability to effectively complete academic tasks. This research uses an associative quantitative approach with the Partial Least Square (SmartPLS) method to analyze the relationships between variables. Data was collected by distributing a Likert-scale questionnaire to Biology Education students. The research results show that all indicators have outer loading values above 0.70, thus meeting the criteria for convergent validity and construct reliability. Evaluation of the structural model (inner model) shows that learning style has a positive and significant effect on learning experience (t = 4.560; p = 0.000), and self-efficacy also has a positive and significant effect on learning experience (t = 7.375; p = 0.000). This indicates that students with a suitable learning style and high self-efficacy have a more positive and meaningful learning experience. These findings confirm the importance of the role of lecturers in designing learning strategies that are adaptive to students' learning styles and in promoting self-efficacy to improve overall student engagement and learning outcomes

Abstract

This study examines the integration of climate action concepts, specifically green computing and computing for green, into English language learning for computer science students using the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach. English Language Learners (ELLs), most of whom are non-native English speakers (NNES) in the field of Computer Science, require a language learning model that not only improves linguistic skills but also fosters awareness and active participation in global climate change issues. Through qualitative methods, including a literature review, CLIL classroom observations, and interviews with instructors, this study identifies best practices in designing content-integrated English language curricula that combine language proficiency and ecological literacy. Green computing principles are applied not only in learning materials but also in research methods to reduce carbon footprints. Findings indicate that integrating sustainability topics into English language learning within the context of Computer Science effectively enhances students' language skills and environmental awareness. Students become more motivated to act as agents of change in preserving the environment. The practical implication is that interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative CLIL curriculum design can play a crucial role in preparing Computer Science graduates to be not only technically competent but also linguistically competent, as well as having sustainability awareness.

Abstract

This study addresses environmental degradation and declining ecological awareness in modern religious and social life. Within the Minangkabau context, the integration of Islamic values and customary traditions continues to reflect a harmonious relationship between humans, nature, and God. This research analyzes how Islamic ecotheological values are embedded in the leadership of niniak mamak (traditional leaders) and the social practices of the Salingka Nagari community in Tilatang Kamang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, with Tamsir Dt. Pado Batuah and Mutaqim Malin Pamuncak serving as key informants. The findings show that Islamic ecotheological values are practiced through an indigenous leadership system grounded in mizan (ecological balance), amanah (responsibility for God’s creation), and ukhuwah kauniyyah (universal brotherhood among all beings). Ecological governance is reflected in the management of customary forests (Rimbo Manduang), collective farming (batanam basamo), and community deliberation, all rooted in the principle of adat basandi syarak, syarak basandi Kitabullah (custom founded upon Islamic law, and Islamic law founded upon the Qur’an). Non-formal educational spaces such as surau and lapau also function as channels for transmitting ecotheological values across generations. This study concludes that the leadership of niniak mamak in Tilatang Kamang embodies a living model of Islamic social ecology, integrating Islamic teachings, local wisdom, and ecological consciousness within a sustainable governance system. The findings contribute to developing a faith-based ecological leadership framework within Islamic education and sustainable development discourse.
