Abstract

Before the General Election to choose the legislative members, that is held on April 5, 2005 and President General Election, that is held on June 5 and September 20, 2004, there was a political phenomenon, which then popularly said "a political contract. " The political contract was initiated by some elements of 'the civil society', which were the important components of the political power of pro-reform community. Looking at the cultural side, the existence of the political contract in the development of Indonesian politics implied that there was a change in cognitive, affective and evaluation  orientation of some of Indonesian people in their attitudes and political habits to be more rational.  The emergence of the more-rational political orientation was also pushed by the previous political experience of ''being betrayed by the political elite ', just like in 1999 General Election at the reform era. The chance also rose after the changes in the system of General Election that introduced the district and proportional system, and the direct president election that rose up the important of people's vote and aspiration. The changes had pushed the political elites to approach the people, fit themselves with the people's rhythm and dynamism, including the aspiration for political transparency and political accountability by willing to sign the political contract.

Abstract

This paper lift up some important issues linked to conflict, ethnicity, and national integra­tion on our world today. Main focus is why conjlict based on ethnic and ethnic identity raised on our world today. The center of criticism will be explored in this paper. Beside, this paper also gives some important notion to maintain nationality owned by the ethnic group, especially Indo­nesia in multiethnic condition which has a big risk and potential of being crashed by ethnic conflict and disintegration.

Abstract

This research was aimed at answering about globalizing challenges citizen, especially young citizen. Teaching and learning in higher education including Citizenship Education is still conventional emphasizing learning process as the process of inculcating the value of smart and good citizen mainly related to the establishment of global competence of citizens. This study uses qualitative approach to explore the meaninful of practices and sciences of Citizenship Education as character education and global competencies of citizens. Practically, this research was expected to provide for practitioners and scientists of education, especially for Citizenship Education as character development courses in college, especially in the formation of global competencies of young citizens.

Abstract

One of the ways to strengthen nationalist character values is through formal education, including in Muhammadiyah schools. The practice needs strengthening in Muhammadiyah schools for deviations in student behavior that do not reflect the values of nationalist character. This article attempts to provide an overview of strengthening the values of nationalist characters through Muhammadiyah school culture. The research method used is qualitative research. The focus of the object in this study is strengthening the value of nationalist character for students in Muhammadiyah schools. The steps of data analysis using data reduction models, data presentation, conclusions. The study results show that there are several school programs to instill the values of nationalist character through school culture, among others, through learning in the classroom and habituation outside the classroom, among others, through extracurricular activities. The supporting factor is that the school establishes with the parties to run the program. The inhibiting factor is that some students are still not optimal in participating in a school program.

Abstract

Artikel bertujuan untuk mengungkap efektivitas penggunaan bahan ajar PPKn berdimensi penguatan pendidikan karakter dengan contoh kontekstual bagi Siswa SMP di kota Singkawang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen, yang berbentuk quasy experiment. Adapun objek penelitian ini adalah 61 peserta didik kelas VII pada SMP 13 & 19 Kota Singkawang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik pengukuran menggunakan alat tes tertulis. Adapun alat analisis yang digunakan adalah uji beda dengan menggunakan t-test. Hasil perhitungan t-test menunjukkan bahwa signifikansi = 0,00 < α 0,05, yang berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaaan hasil belajar antara hasil pre-test dengan hasil post-test secara signifikan, sementara dari hasil evaluasi lisan diketahui bahwa siswa mampu memberikan contoh dari empat jenis norma yang berlaku di lingkungan masyarakat secara variatif, serta mampu menunjukkan perilaku toleransi dalam keberagaman suku, agama, ras, dan antar golongan dalam bingkai Bhinneka Tunggal Ika yang ada di kota Singkawang. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan bahan ajar secara efektif berdampak terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar PPKn peserta didik SMP Kelas VII. ABSTRACTThe article aims to reveal the effectiveness of using PPKn teaching materials to strengthen character education with contextual examples for junior high school students in Singkawang. This research is experimental research, which is in the form of a quasi-experiment. The object of this research was 61 students of class VII at SMP 13 & 19 Singkawang City. The data was collected using measurement techniques using a written test. The analytical tool used is a different test using a t-test. The t-test calculation result shows that significance = 0.00 <α 0.05, which means a significant difference in learning outcomes between the pre-test and post-test results. While from the results of the oral evaluation, students can provide examples of four types of norms that vary in society and can show tolerant behavior in the diversity of ethnicities, religions, races, and groups within the framework of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in the city of Singkawang. Thus, teaching materials effectively impact improving the learning outcomes of Class VII Junior High School Students' PPKn.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone must be at home and keep a distance using a mask. The spread massively. It becomes the basis for all stakeholders to find solutions, both in the form of preventive (prevention) and curative (cure). One of the strategic educational media used to prevent and overcome covid-19 for the current generation of digital natives is through digital comics or webtoons. Comics in digital form has many advantages over printed comics. Based on this, the research aims to find out how the impact of the promotion of the National Defense Knight Comics through the Webtoon as an educational medium for preventing and controlling Covid-19 for the community. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) using the Waterfall development model. The results of this review show that promoting comics of state defense knights through webtoons can become a medium of persuasion for education on preventing and overcoming Covid-19. The innovative education offered by the knight Bela Negara comic designs webtoon readers to be closer to the story and characters because it is more humane, so that they are able to show the effects in the form of responses, both cognitive (knowledge development), affective (through positive attitudes) and connective (action as the results of stimulating positive attitudes) related to the prevention and handling of covid-19.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengangkat permasalahan Sungai Citarum yang keadaannya sangat memprihatinkan walaupun pemerintah daerah telah berupaya menanganinya dengan berbagai program dan dengan biaya yang sangat besar.  Ecological citizenship merupakan gerakan sebagai upaya mengubah perilaku masyarakat agar sadar lingkungan. Civic responsibility adalah kesadaran akan hak dan kewajiban sebagai warga negara yang bertanggung jawab. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis program agar dapat mengubah mindset masyarakat mempunyai kesadaran untuk mencintai lingkungan. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan observasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian masyarakat masih belum memiliki kesadaran untuk membantu program pemerintah daerah, hal ini disebabkan karena faktor pendidikan, status sosial dan ekonomi. Cara yang tepat untuk mempromosikan ecological citizenship dan civic responsibility adalah edukasi tingkat sekolah menengah untuk menghindari krisis lingkungan, ekonomi, dan budaya di masa depan dengan menambahkan Kurikulum Kewarganegaraan. Komunikasi aktif dari pemerintah daerah kepada masyarakat terbangun kesadaran untuk ikut membangun lingkungan. ABSTRACTThis research about the Citarum River problem is in deplorable condition even though the local government has tried to solve it with various programs and at a very high cost. Ecological citizenship is a movement to change people's behavior so that they are environmentally aware. Civic responsibility is an awareness of the rights and obligations of the citizen. The research objective is to analyze the program to change the mindset of having the awareness to love the environment. The research method used a qualitative approach with observation and interviews. The results of the community research still do not have the awareness to help local government programs. It is due to factors of education, social, and economic status. An appropriate way to promote ecological citizenship and civic responsibility is secondary school level education to avoid future environmental, economic, and cultural crises by adding a citizenship curriculum in school. Citizen awareness can build from a good partnership between government and society

Abstract

The Indonesian population is aging very rapidly and as the number of old people increases, the number of retirees increases as well. Many scholars have argued the benefits of civic engagement in old age, but there is lack of empirical evidence of the factors associated with civic engagement in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between education levels, retirement status, and civic engagement among older adults in Indonesia. The study used data from the fifth wave of the Indonesia Family and Life Survey which was held in late 2014 and early 2015. The study included participants aged 56 years and older, the mandatory age for retirement in 2014 in Indonesia.  Multiple regression was modelled for data analysis. The main results revealed that those who completed junior and senior high school and high education exhibited more civic engagement than those who completed only primary education. Moreover, the study found that those who were retired were less engaged in civic activities than those still in labor force. These relationships held true even after controlling for gender, age, marital status, personality traits, religiosity, and self-rated health variables. To strengthen democracy and growth, education needs to be re-emphasized and there is need for further investigation concerning retirement and civic engagement in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penggunaan media sosial pada mahasiswa menjadi salah satu gaya hidup di lingkungan Universitas Wisnuwardhana Malang. Pada era digital seperti saat ini penggunaan media sosial sering disalah gunakan bahkan menjadi ajang bully, rasis, dsb. Untuk itu penggunaan media sosial perspektif digital ethic hadir sebagai cara untuk meminimalisir kebobrokan moral anak didik di media sosial. Riset ini berfokus pada penggunaan media sosial perspektif digital ethic pada mahasiswa di Universitas Wisnuwardhana Malang. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian di lapangan mengenai penggunaan media sosial dan perspektif digital ethic adalah mayoritas mahasiswa Universitas Wisnuwardhana Malang menggunakan media hanya untuk memposting foto-foto pribadi serta kegiatan yang positif. Sistem komunikasi sosial yang ada di media sosial, sama persis dengan sistem komunikasi dalam lingkungan sehari-hari. Mahasiswa Universitas Wisnuwardhana Malang mempertimbangkan dalam mengupload ataupun memposting di media sosial. ABSTRACTThe use of social media for students is one of the lifestyles in the University of Wisnuwardhana Malang. In this digital era, the use of social media is often misused. It even becomes an arena for bullying, racism, etc. For this reason, the use of social media with an ethical digital perspective is present to minimize the moral decay of students on social media. This research focuses on using social media with a digital ethics perspective on students at Wisnuwardhana University Malang. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The research results in the field regarding the use of social media and the digital ethics perspective are that many Wisnuwardhana University Malang students use the media only to post personal photos and positive activities. The social communication system in social media is precisely the same as the communication system in everyday life. Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk membahas tentang peluang dan tantangan pendidikan karakter di era digital. Ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan naturalistik. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara survei, wawancara, observasi dan studi pustaka. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan enam tahapan dari Creswell. Pendidikan karakter di era digital memiliki berbagai tantangan dan peluang. Riset membuktikan bahwa era digital memberi peluang positif pada implementasi pendidikan karakter. Tantangan kita  adalah bagaimana mengajari siswa untuk  menavigasi etika di era digital. Beberapa tantangan yang harus dihadapi dalam pendidikan karakter di era digital mencakup keseimbangan, keselamatan dan keamanan, perundungan siber, sexting, hak cipta dan plagiarism. Para pembuat kebijakan pendidikan perlu berperan aktif dalam pengembangan berkelanjutan pembelajaran karakter secara digital untuk memastikan penerapan pembelajaran digital yang efektif.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this article is to discuss the opportunities and challenges of character education in the digital age. This is a qualitative research with naturalistic approach. Data were collected by surveys, interviews, observation and literature review. The data were analyzed by six stages from Creswell. Character education in the digital age has various challenges and opportunities. Research proves that the digital age provides positive opportunities for the implementation of character education. The challenge is how to teach students to navigate ethics in the digital age. Some of the challenges are balance, safety and security, cyber bullying, sexting, copyright and plagiarism. Education policy makers need to participate in the continuous development of digital character learning to implement effective digital learning.
