Abstract

This research seeks to find out if there is a meaningful difference in learning results between students who utilize the Question Student Have method and those who utilize the Drill and Practice method at SMP Negeri 1 Jatisrono. This research is an experimental study employing a randomized pretest-posttest comparison group design. The study's population included grade VIII students from SMP Negeri 1 Jatisrono, with samples taken from two classes, specifically class VIII B and VIII C, chosen through purposive sampling methods. Data gathering was conducted via observation, documentation, pretest, and posttest. Data analysis consisted of prerequisite tests for normality and homogeneity, followed by hypothesis testing using an independent samples t-test. The findings revealed a notable difference in learning outcomes between students using the Question Student Have method and those using the Drill and Practice method. This is shown by the average pretest score of experimental class 1 being 72.51 and experimental class 2 being 68.83. In contrast, posttest data analysis showed the average score of experimental class 1 to be 79.75 and experimental class 2 to be 75.85. Hypothesis testing using the t-test at a significance level of 0.05 yielded a calculated t value > t table (2.93 > 1.99), leading to the acceptance of Ha and rejection of H0. Therefore, it can be concluded that the learning results of students using the Question Student Have method are superior to those of students using the Drill and Practice method.

Abstract

This research is based on the lack of enthusiasm and understanding of students regarding social interaction material in social studies subjects. This was obtained based on the results of observations and interviews with educators. From the results of observations and interviews in the pre-research, it was seen that learning social studies subjects still often use conventional models only, while in mastering the material it is not enough to do activities by reading and memorizing only. Educators are required to be creative in selecting learning models that involve students actively in learning activities. Therefore, a Social Inquiry learning model help students to increase enthusiasm, social participation and understand the material in depth.. The focus of the research examined in this thesis is: 1. How is the Planning of the Social Inquiry Learning Model in Social Studies Subjects at SMP Plus Darus Sholah Jember? 2. How is the Implementation of the Social Inquiry Model in Social Studies Subjects at SMP Plus Darus Sholah Jember? 3. How is the Evaluation of the Social Inquiry Learning Model in Social Studies Subjects at SMP Plus Darus Sholah Jember? This research method uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative research type. The research subjects were conducted in class VII A using a purposive technique. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis used data condensation, data display and verification. Abstract

The Tor-Tor Naposo Nauli Bulung dance contains local wisdom values that can serve as an ethnopedagogical source in Social Studies education. This study explores (1) the manifestation of spiritual and respectful values within the dance and (2) its potential as a culturally based learning resource for Social Studies. A qualitative approach with an ethnographic design was used, involving observation, interviews, and document analysis, with data validated through triangulation. The findings show that the dance reflects spiritual values, reverence for ancestors, solidarity, and communal harmony. However, a shift in meaning among younger generations challenges its preservation. The dance has the potential to be integrated into Social Studies learning through an ethnopedagogical approach, particularly to instil character values and cultural appreciation. Challenges include limited instructional time and students' lack of understanding of the dance's philosophical meaning. Therefore, an integrated learning model involving cultural arts and community figures is recommended.

Abstract

This research employed a quasi-experimental research design, involving an experimental group that received instruction through an Android-based puzzle adventure game and a control group that followed conventional learning methods. Data collection was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' critical thinking skills across six dimensions: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. Statistical analysis confirmed the validity and reliability of the research instrument, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.87, indicating high internal consistency. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a significant difference between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings confirm the positive impact of game-based learning on students' critical thinking skills. The research findings highlight the impact of educational games as an instructional tool in vocational education, enhancing student engagement and cognitive development. This study suggests that integrating Android-based games into the vocational curriculum can improve students' learning experiences and better prepare them for professional careers. Further research should explore the long-term impact of game-based learning and its adaptability across various vocational subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning activity in social studies subjects through the implementation of Dakword Challenge game-based learning. The problems raised are the low participation, discussion, and enthusiasm of class IX-5 students of SMP Negeri 6 Malang. Dakword Challenge combines the traditional dakon game with digital media Wordwall in the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method for two cycles. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The results showed a significant increase in student learning activity. In cycle I, most students (67.75%) were in the medium category and only 9.68% were in the high category. After improving the strategy in cycle II, 61.29% of students reached the high category and only 6.45% were in the low category. Improvements include more systematic delivery of rules, initial simulations, and role rotation in groups. Dakword Challenge-based learning has proven effective in improving students' social studies learning activity. In cycle I, many students had learning activity in the medium category with a total of 67.75%, only 9.68% were in the high category, and 22.58% were in the low category. After improvements were made in cycle II, learning activity increased significantly with 61.29% of students in the high category, 6.45% in the low category, and 32.26% in the medium category. Thus, from this study it is known that Dakword Challenge game-based learning is effective in increasing the learning activity of students in social studies subjects.

Abstract

The main issue in the learning process at SMP Negeri 2 Silo is the teacher-centered approach, which still heavily relies on traditional learning models, particularly in Social Studies subjects. This condition leads to student boredom and negatively impacts their conceptual understanding. To address this problem, the researcher proposes the use of the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model as a solution to improve students’ conceptual understanding in Social Studies. This study aims to describe the effect of the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model on the conceptual understanding abilities of seventh-grade students in Social Studies at SMP Negeri 2 Silo, Jember, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students, with purposive sampling used to select the samples. Class VII-B was assigned as the experimental group, and Class VII-A as the control group, each comprising 29 students. The instrument used to collect data was a conceptual understanding questionnaire. The results of the analysis show that the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model has a significant effect on students’ conceptual understanding. This is evidenced by a significance value of 0.000, which is less than the probability threshold of 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In conclusion, the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model has a significant positive effect on improving the conceptual understanding of Social Studies among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Silo, Jember, in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of entrepreneurship education and family environment on students’ entrepreneurial interest at Universitas PGRI Argopuro Jember, a private university located in a non-metropolitan area. Despite the integration of entrepreneurship courses and participation in collaborative entrepreneurship programs, preliminary observations indicate that students’ entrepreneurial interest remains relatively limited. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected from 87 students of the Economics Education Study Program who had completed entrepreneurship courses, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument consisted of a structured questionnaire measured using a Likert scale, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS software. The results indicate that entrepreneurship education and family environment each have a positive and significant effect on students’ entrepreneurial interest, both partially and simultaneously (Sig. < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.290) suggests that these two variables explain 29% of the variance in entrepreneurial interest. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening entrepreneurship learning in higher education while simultaneously fostering family support to enhance students’ entrepreneurial orientation. This study contributes empirical evidence from a small private university context, which has received limited attention in previous entrepreneurship research.
