This study is a quantitative study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The study population consisted of 28 students in Class VIII A, with a sample size of 6 students. The data collection tool used was an empathy questionnaire. The data were analyzed using a paired t-test. The results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, so the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the role-playing technique through group counseling services is effective in enhancing empathy among eighth-grade students at UPTD SMPN 16 Kupang during the 2025/2026 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of parenting styles on the creativity of eighth-grade students at UPTD SMPN 5 Kupang during the 2025/2026 academic year. Specifically, this study examines the effects of authoritarian, permissive, and democratic parenting styles on students’ creativity. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The population consisted of 352 eighth-grade students, with a sample of 88 students selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that parenting styles simultaneously had an effect on students’ creativity, with an F-calculated value of 13.217, which was greater than the F-table value of 3.949. Partially, authoritarian parenting had no significant effect on students’ creativity, with a t-calculated value of −1.688, whereas permissive and democratic parenting styles had an effect on students’ creativity, with t-calculated values of −4.325 and −2.494, respectively. The R-squared value of 0.321 indicates that parenting styles collectively contributed 32.1% to students’ creativity, while the remaining 67.9% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Thus, parenting styles simultaneously affect students’ creativity, while partially, only permissive and democratic parenting styles demonstrated an effect on students’ creativity.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of self-concept on prosocial behavior among ninth-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 10 Kupang during the 2025/2026 academic year. A quantitative approach with a causal-associative design was employed. The population consisted of 320 students, and 80 students were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through self-concept and prosocial behavior questionnaires, each consisting of 40 Likert-type items. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The regression model was statistically significant, F(1, 78) = 7.313, p = .008, with R = .293 and R² = .086. These findings indicate a statistically significant association between self-concept and prosocial behavior, with self-concept accounting for 8.6% of the variance in students’ prosocial behavior. The remaining 91.4% was associated with other factors not included in the model. The findings highlight self-concept as one relevant psychological factor to consider in guidance and counseling services aimed at strengthening students’ prosocial behavior. Nevertheless, because the study used a cross-sectional design and simple regression, the findings should be interpreted as statistical association/prediction rather than definitive causal evidence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parental involvement and the learning motivation of seventh-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 10 Kupang in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed a quantitative correlational research design. The study population consisted of all seventh-grade students, totaling 352 students. The sample consisted of 96 students from three classes, namely VII F, VII G, and VII K. Data were collected using parental involvement and learning motivation questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation technique with the assistance of SPSS for Windows version 22. The results showed a Pearson correlation coefficient of -0.788, indicating a strong negative relationship, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.005. This finding indicates that higher parental involvement is associated with lower student learning motivation, whereas lower parental involvement is associated with higher student learning motivation.

Abstract

Total Quality Management (TQM) has increasingly influenced quality assurance in Islamic educational institutions, including madrasahs, pesantren, and Islamic universities, yet existing research remains fragmented and lacks comprehensive synthesis. This narrative review aims to consolidate findings on TQM implementation in Islamic education, specifically examining its practices, barriers, and success factors. A literature search was conducted through Google Scholar, targeting peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025. After screening, 46 articles were retained for thematic analysis. The findings reveal three core practice domains—leadership commitment, continuous pedagogical improvement, and stakeholder engagement—constrained by cultural resistance, limited resources, and regulatory overlaps. Success is primarily driven by spiritual leadership and the internalization of Islamic values such as ihsan (excellence) and amanah (trustworthiness), which legitimize quality reforms within religious contexts. An integrative framework is proposed to guide institutional leaders and policymakers in aligning TQM with the spiritual mission of Islamic education. The review recommends future longitudinal and cross-country studies to test and refine this framework. Ultimately, contextual adaptation rather than technical replication is essential for sustainable quality improvement in Islamic educational institutions.
