Abstract

Digital transformation is reshaping Islamic financial institutions, creating a need to develop technological competencies that remain aligned with Islamic spiritual and ethical values. This study investigates how Bank Syariah Indonesia integrates principles such as taqwā (piety), amānah (trustworthiness), and ‘adl (justice) into the development of human capital in the digital era. Drawing on a qualitative case study design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with eleven managers and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings reveal six key themes: the alignment of digital practices with sharia requirements, spiritual intelligence as a guiding work ethos, Islamic leadership and cultural modeling, sharia-driven decision-making and risk governance, sharia-integrated role-based training, and systemic and generational challenges that shape implementation. Collectively, these insights demonstrate that Islamic values are not only embedded in ethical guidelines but also in daily digital workflows, leadership routines, and competency-building structures. The study advances Islamic human resource development (HRD) theory by introducing a Tripartite Islamic Human Capital Model that integrates technical proficiency, ethical reasoning, and spiritual alignment. Practically, the findings emphasize the need for value-embedded HR strategies to support the digital transformation of Islamic financial institutions.

Abstract

Most researchers have concluded that religiosity is a strong belief ofthe individual in carrying out the religious orders properly. It can bealso the basis for applying the values of religion as a whole to achievehappiness in this world and hereafter. Meanwhile, religiosity also makesa positive contribution in the advancement and development of sociallife. In the view of Islam, religiosity provides individuals an importantrole in implementing the commitment to run all the basic principles ofIslam. One of the commitments in the Islamic religiosity is an obligationto redistribute wealth in the form of Zakah, to purify the wealth andalso create fairness in the distribution of wealth and income. We haveunderstood that the distribution of Zakah has two important dimensions, the first relating to compliance in carrying out the commands of Allah(Hablumminallah) and the second creates a sense of fairness andconcern among fellow Muslims (Hablumminannas). Specifically in thesocial dimension (Hablumminannas), the distribution of Zakah can bean important factor in the process of social and economic developmentof society. Therefore, in this paper we seeks to describe how religiosity can contribute to development, focusing especially on the role of Islamic religiosity in the development of Zakah institutions to improvethe welfare of Muslims. Keywords: Religiosity, Religious, Islamic Religiosity, zakah, social, economic, and development

Abstract

As religious-violent extremism (RVE) is snowballing, government, authorities, and also Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are trying to seek various approaches from soft to hard measures to eradicate and decrease religious-violent extremism at many levels of society. CISForm, as a study center at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, has quite long been active in preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE) through its delicate methods, i.e., mainstreaming moderation in some pesantrens in Yogyakarta and Surakarta, Indonesia. This paper will display the methods, strategies, and responses of the programs that have been carried out by the university-based research center. Due to the problematic terms or concepts of radicalization and deradicalization, the whole program of CISForm on CVE is termed as mainstreaming moderation instead of deradicalization. This research found that some conservative pesantrens, as dormant entities, should be approached properly through soft measures since hard measures could neither touch nor address the roots of radicalism appropriately. The indirect and soft approaches initiated by CISForm could re-mainstream pesantrens to moderate Islam (wasathiyah).

Abstract

This is a descriptive study which is presented in narative way since the data is analysed by using verbal explanation. The reseracher collects the data about Writing test format, the criteria of marking and the scoring system used by Writing lecturers of STAIN Curup deeply. The subjects of this reserach are Writing Letcurers in English Tadris Study Program of STAIN Curup. A checklist and an interview guidance are used as the intruments of this research to gain the data on format of writing test and the criteria of marking. Fieldnotes are also taken in order to observe some data which is not performed in observation and also used to trianggulate the whole result. Observation, document analysis and interview are the technigues in collecting data. The finding of this research shows that Writing lecturers useGap Filling, Form Completion, Information transfer task, Letter writing, Integrating reading into Writing, Open-ended Essay Test, Responding to a given Information are their formats in testing students’ writing ability. The finding also finds that the criteria of marking used by the Writing lecturers are Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling, Relevance and Adequacy of Content. Unfortunately the writing lecturers do not include the score for each criteria. The scoring scheme is only based on the scheme designed by institusion (STAIN Curup) they are: 00 – 49 = E (gagal), 50 – 59 = D, 60 – 69 = C, 70 – 85 = B dan 86 – 100 = A.There is also no scale of scoring for each aspect of writing. It is important for writing lecturers to include the score for each criteria of marking in writing test as suggested by the theory. It can improve the objectivity of scoring and directly minimize the subjectivity. Eventhough the institution has its own regulation in calculating the score, the writing lecturers also need to consider the purpose of teaching writing skill itself.

Abstract

The model for nurturing attitudes of religious moderation in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) has primarily focused on the cognitive dimension, particularly the aspect of understanding. However, it is important to acknowledge that moderate religious attitudes are also shaped by the processes of meaning-making and habituation. This study offers novelty by contextually adapting the character education model as a comprehensive framework for nurturing moderate religious attitudes in PTKIN. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The data is analyzed through several stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with the aim of understanding the significance of students’ experiences while participating in the moderate religious attitude formation program. The study results indicate that the adapted character education model, which combines elements of understanding, meaning, and habituation, effectively promotes moderate religious attitudes among PTKIN students. These findings provide important implications for the development of religious moderation programs within the PTKIN context. However, this study has limitations regarding the scope of participants, as it does not represent all PTKIN in Indonesia. Therefore, further testing of these results in a broader context is necessary.

Abstract

Social media has facilitated the proliferation of Muslim magicians who showcase magical performances as Islamic spiritual healing, obscuring the distinction between authentic karāma and commercialized supernatural claims. This study examines how such practices misrepresent the Sufi concept of karāma on YouTube. Employing a qualitative netnographic approach, the data were collected from the YouTube channels of Gus Samsudin, Ningsih Tinampi, Ustadz Dhanu, and Ujang Busthomi. Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) was applied to examine their construction of algorithmic authority. In addition, semiotic analysis was used to examine the motives behind the visualizations in their social media content. Meanwhile, to assess whether these performances reflect the authentic concept of karāma, data triangulation was performed by comparing video content with classical and modern Sufi texts, media reports, and insights from Sufism experts. The findings reveal that these performances constitute pseudo-karāma rather than genuine saintly miracles, commodifying Islamic symbols and exploiting vulnerable audiences for commercial purposes. This study contributes to digital religion scholarship by distinguishing authentic Sufi karāma from pseudo-spiritual performances and highlighting the importance of strengthening religious and digital literacy to counter misleading supernatural claims in the digital era.
