Abstract

Handling of coal burning waste of thermal power plant in Lati, Berau district, East Kalimantan province, which is recommended by the department of environmental impact management is to dispose the coal ash into pools flowed water so that coal ash did not fly and cause air pollution. As known that coal ash waste is included hazardous and toxic waste, therefore managing it carefully is a necessity. Sediment or heap of coal ash in the sedimentation pond that is flowing with water is called Pond Ash. This study is conducted by utilizing the pond ash as a replacement material in the concrete mix. The effect of the use of pond ash as partial replacement of sand, fine aggregate in the concrete mix, is studied using cylindrical specimen with a diameter of 100 mm and a height of 200 mm. Specimens were made by taking the ratio of the percentage of pond ash of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of the mixture of concrete with the constant water cement ratio 0.49 which is based on the results of normal concrete mix design. The compressive strength test of concrete was conducted at ages 1, 3, 7, 14, 28 and 90 days. The test results of compressive strength of concrete obtained showed an increase in compressive strength in accordance with the addition of pond ash in the mix. The adding of pond ash in the mix affected the increasing in the compressive strength of concrete, and the optimum strength is obtained in the ratio of 17% pond ash, which increased to 26.08 MPa from 25.05 MPa for concrete with and without pond ash mixes respectively, or increased by 4.12%. This increase is not significant and cannot be used as a reference, however, by the results of this study it can be concluded that the pond ash waste can be utilized for the manufacture of concrete as a partial replacement of sand.

Abstract

One of the phenomenon appears on operation of marine propeller is noise. It could reduce performance of the propeller. In this study, numerical simulation is used to predict hydrodynamic performance and noise around non cavitation propellers. The formulation of RANS (Reynold Averaged Naiver Stokes) with turbulence model k-ω SST (Shear Stress Transport) and FWH (Ffowcs Williams–Hawkings formulation) is applied on the simulation. The noise is expressed in time-domain acoustic analogy as well as finite volume, and it is predicted at different receiver positions. The performance of propeller is predicted by MRF technique (Multiple Reference Frame). The 3D model of B-series propeller with diameter of D = 250 mm, blade number Z = 4, pitch diameter ratio P/D = 1, and area ratio Ae/Ao = 0.55 is simulated on various advance coefficients (J). Propeller rotation is simulated in range of 7.5 rps - 29rps and Re = 6.95x104– 3.36x106

Abstract

Taman Baca Masyarakat dapat dipandang sebagai sarana yang optimal dalam pengembangan kebiasaan membaca dan sekaligus kebiasaan dan kebisaan belajar. Pemanfaatan mutli moda teks yang diambil dari media cetak maupun daring menjadi sumber potensial untuk memajankan anak-anak akan berbagai jenis ragam teks, baik fiksi maupun non fiksi. Teks-teks tersebut dikemas dalam kegiatan yang beragam sehingga mendorong kognitif, afektif sekaligus prikomotoris peserta pengabdian. Kegiatan membaca nyaring, membuat mading tematik, dan menulis cerita telah mampu mendorong 100 anak TBM peserta program untuk menghasilkan kumpulan cerita anak. Kegiatan dan luaran yang dicapai dari kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan bukti empiris terkait fisibilitas TBM yang dioptimasi fungsinya sebagai pusat pengembangan literasi dan laboratorium belajar sepanjang hayat.

Abstract

Dalam pengoperasian kapal LNG, Boil off gas (BOG) yang dihasilkan dapat ditreatment untuk dirubah kembali menjadi LNG atau dapat dimanfaatkan untuk keperluan bahan bakar pada sistem penggerak utama. Penanganan BOG menjadi sangat penting dikarenakan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi operasional kapal, namun sebaliknya dapat menimbulkan kerugian secara ekonomi jika tidak dilakukan dengan tepat. Paper ini mengkaji penggunaan BOG yang dihasilkan oleh kapal LNG sebagai bahan bakar pada berbagai operasional mode (Full speed, Economical speed, NBO speed, Pilotage, Drifting, Anchorage). Mesin utama kapal yang digunakan pada kajian ini adalah dual fuel diesel engine (DFDE). Tujuan dilakukannya kajian ini untuk mendapatkan operasi kapal yang optimum saat proses penguapan Natural Boiled Off Gas (NBO) serta membandingkan tiga jenis dual fuel engine pada pengoperasian kapal LNG, yaitu DFDE, ME-GI engine dan X-DF engine. Metode yang digunakan pada kajian ini adalah perhitungan daya mesin kapal, perhitungan propeler, engine propeller matching, dan perhitungan konsumsi bahan bakar. Dari hasil kajian didapatkan bahwa kapal LNG yang saat ini dioperasikan mengkonsumsi bahan bakar lebih banyak dari pada operasi idealnya. Sedangkan dari perbandingan mesin dual fuel, ME-GI memperlihatkan konsumsi bahan bakar yang lebih efisien

Abstract

This study aims to identify the characteristics of fishermen communities in coastal areas of East Balikpapan. This type of research is descriptive method, with the technique of observation and questionnaire. This study use proportional sampling of Manggar and Manggar Baru village. The results showed that the fishermen community still using simple tools to catch fish, difficulties in obtaining capital, and fishes catches are sold directly to the retainer or to the market, so that fishermen are not getting the added value production. By knowing the characteristics of fishermen communities are expected to give a discourse in the development area so as to improve the welfare of fishermen in the area of research.

Abstract

Knowledge management extensively applied in enterprise because it significantly effect on enterprise effectiveness and innovation strategy. In order to create professionalism in form of competencies, education institution also implemented knowledge management concept. Education institution as a knowledge business is a suitable form for a knowledge management development, especially in vocational education. With practical approach methods and strong industrial relationship in order to improve their student skills, vocational education has plenty of knowledge sources to create knowledge as institutions intangible asset. From prior study, knowledge management system in vocational education is unstructured. This study focus in developed a KMS model in higher vocational education institution. The model showed that relation between organization environment and KM infrastructure effect on knowledge flow. KM assessment level and knowledge flow configured KM strategy to establish KM roadmap. The KMS model test on Polman Astra institution.

Abstract

Geopolymer material is inorganic polymers that are generally synthesized from aluminosilicate materials, such as ferronickel slag. In this study, synthesis of geopolymer material using NaOH 7 molar and Na2SiO3 solutions with different Si/Al ratio to make paste. Paste is molded in a metal mold with dimensions of 5x5x5 cm3, then released from the mold and heated in an oven at 80 °C for 24 hours. The specimens that have been heated further left at room temperature for 28 days and then tested for compressive strengthand water absorption. The results indicate a trend compressive strength increases and water absorption decreases with increasing the Si/Al ratio. The optimum condition is obtained when Si/Al ratio is 3.5.

Abstract

River performance is a quantitative representation showing fairly good, requiring maintenance- or damaged conditions. The assessment is conducted to implement the maintenance with appropriate management. It is the manifestation of government, stakeholders, and community’s anticipation to conduct repairing and maintenance before the damage occurring. The criterion of assessment is expressed in percentage. The case study in Pepe Baru River of Surakarta was conducted by designing the assessment of condition viewed from function, structure, public participation, and government regulation aspects. Indicator weighing was conducted using ANP (Analytic Network Process) method with Super Decision Beta software. The assessment of these components resulted in field weight. The assessment of function using Hec-Ras software, Structure aspect with visual observation, Public participation level was conducted using questionnaire distributed to the society with Guttman, Linkert scale method, and assessment according to government regulation. From the result of analysis, it could be found the indicator weight and field weight, so that the assessment of river performance was obtained. The result of performance assessment with 80%-100% score was categorized into good, 50%-79% into fair, and 0%-45% into poor. Considering the result of analysis on the performance analysis, it could be found the score of 74% indicating fair condition and the maintenance was required to improve the performance.

Abstract

Surabaya as the second largest city in Indonesia has been nominated as 12 cities with MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, Exhibition) development. This causes the government of Surabaya concerns about the development of tourism such as history, education and maritime tourism. The biggest revenue of government came from trading sector, hotel, restaurant, and transportation. One of important things on developing tourism sector is the ease to access information of the tourism site. The infrastructure already completed by internet access as a smart city. All needs can be found online to save money. The implementation can be found in many fields, such as education, administrations, and tourism as the implementation of internet of thing. This research’s goal is to design mobile system based on android smartphone for Surabaya tour guide. The system provides GPS technic to give tourism information and to manage tourism site effectively. This system gives recommendation of the MICE place which is suitable for the user based on their requirement. TOPSIS algorithm will be used to rank the recommendation.

Abstract

Acknowledging the issue of energy sustainability, the sugar industry has begun to look at plans to sell electricity to address energy sustainability issues. A scenario with the potential to sell excess electricity motivates this research to analyze the strategies of the sugar industry development. In such situations an ANP approach is applied for the selection of appropriate strategies. This study analyzes the potential for electricity sales in two alternative plant development strategies of three sugarcane industries which from the results, Strategy A (cogeneration scheme) allows to sell electricity for 223-293 days while strategy B (independent power plant scheme) allows to sell throughout the year. The result also shows that by using ANP, it is found that strategy A is better than strategy B
