Abstract

This study aims to compare the Brain-Based Learning (BBL) and Somatic Auditory Visual and Intellectual (SAVI) learning models based on brain gym in an effort to improve student learning outcomes and retention. This study was experimental research with a Quasi-Experimental design. The population of this study totaling 62 people, using the BBL learning model for as many as 22 people and using the SAVI learning model for as many as 22 people. Data analysis used a t-test with SPSS for windows 22.0. The results showed that the average score of the pretest, posttest, and retest of the BBL class was greater than that of the SAVI class. The t-test analysis obtained a significance value of 0.026 <0.05 for learning outcomes and a significance value of 0.32 <0.05 for student retention. So it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between learning outcomes and retention in the BBL and SAVI learning models which affect learning outcomes and student retention in learning.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) discover to which extent the implementation of the 4C skill reaches its effectiveness and (2) reveal the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of 4C skills in Indonesian subject in all senior high schools throughout Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency. The evaluation model used was the discrepancy evaluation model. The research subjects who participated in this research were two Indonesian teachers and 111 eleventh-graders in Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency. Based on the data analysis, the results reveal that the implementation of 4C skills in Indonesian subject learning in all senior high schools throughout the Komodo District is excellent. Furthermore, it is also revealed the essential factors that support the implementation namely peer support (mutual help), the seriousness of the teacher in providing equal attention to all students, and the ability of teachers to understand and execute the 4C skills learning. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors found are the lack of textbooks as learning sources and the unconducive classroom situation/ surroundings. To improve the implementation, principals are recommended to (1) conduct regular training and discussion on the implementation of the 4C skills for the teachers, (2) periodically administer evaluation on the learning process to discover the strength and weakness of 4C skills implementation, and (3) improving the learning facilities to support the learning process. For teachers, they are advised to carry out self-assessment/ self-evaluation (assessment for learning) on the implementation of the 4C skills in their classroom.

Abstract

This article discusses the results of research on the development of conceptual models and hypothetical models of Interactive Blended Problem Based Learning (IBPBL) in Programming Language subjects for Electrical Engineering students at Universitas Negeri Padang. This model is a blended learning model that combines face-to-face learning in class and Moodle-based online learning with problem-based learning syntax in the field of Electrical Engineering. The research was carried out in three stages: (1) literature review, (2) formulation of the conceptual model, and (3) formulation of the hypothetical model. The IBPBL conceptual models consist of: (1) philosophical components: pragmatism; (2) theoretical components: cognitivism, behaviorism, constructivism, and connectivism; (3) methodological components: problem-based learning; and (4) technical components: problem-solving, cooperation, critical thinking, innovative, creative and systematic. The hypothetical model is based on students' ability to solve problems critically, creatively, collaboratively, systematically by utilizing the various advantages possessed by face-to-face and online learning in Programming Language courses. Model validation is done using expert judgment. The expert assessment assessed the IBPBL model in three aspects, namely: (1) component sufficiency, (2) content, and (3) ease of implementation.

Abstract

Bengkala Village is a village where 2% or around 48 people were born with hearing and speaking impairment. They still have an artistic spirit by forming a kolok janger group. To support the development of education, in 2007, the local government established SDN 2 Bengkala as an inclusive school. At present, this school does not yet have specific teaching material in learning science that is deaf-friendly. This study aimed to explore Balinese culture in development of friendly teaching materials in inclusive schools using development research methods. In this study, exploration was carried out by students using the ADDIE model. The instruments used to measure the quality of teaching materials were an assessment sheet of teaching materials from experts for the validity aspects, learning achievement tests, as well as teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires to assess teaching materials applied. Validity analysis was done with the formula of content validity ratio according to Lawshe and the effectiveness test analysis was done through quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study were some products in the form of teaching materials for Natural Sciences which are equipped with RPP/lesson plan and LKPD/worksheets with the development of insightful Balinese culture. This product have been validated by natural science experts, learning design experts, Balinese cultural experts, as well as evaluation and education experts. The results obtained with a CVR and CVI score was 1.00 which can be categorized as "valid" and worth testing. These products have been tested limited in fourth grade. Conclusions of this study were the product can improve learning outcomes of hearing and speaking impairment in inclusive schools.
