Abstract

Most teachers find it difficult to stimulate students' critical thinking, especially since the independent learning curriculum was implemented. In fact, the implementation of the curriculum at the same time supports teachers and students to adapt quickly in order to realize the learning process of high order thinking skills. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the extent to which learning discipline and teacher performance affect students' critical thinking skills in Vocational High Schools. This type of research is causal relationship research with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all X AKL class students, totalling 140 students. The sample in this study was 56 students. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and tests, and then the data were analyzed using descriptive percentages, instrument tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing. The findings of this study indicate that learning discipline partially has no effect on critical thinking skills, and teacher performance partially affects critical thinking skills. However, simultaneously, learning discipline and teacher performance do not affect students' critical thinking skills in accounting subjects in the era of independent learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the correlation between program graduate trait acquisition (PGT) and the scholastic performance of elementary school teacher interns at a public university in Leyte, Philippines, and compare scholastic performance and PGT acquisition between male and female respondents. The research design was correlational and comparative, involving 40 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire to measure respondents' PGT and scholastic performance. Data analysis was performed using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient to examine the relationship between PGT and scholastic performance and the Mann-Whitney Wilcoxon Test to examine gender differences in PGT acquisition and scholastic performance. The results showed no significant correlation between PGT acquisition and scholastic performance. Additionally, there were no significant gender differences in PGT acquisition, highlighting the importance of recognizing individual skills without regard to gender stereotypes. However, the results showed that male respondents demonstrated superior scholastic performance to female respondents, suggesting that educational choices may be better suited to individual strengths. The implications of these findings can encourage the development of educational programs that are more inclusive and support the development of individual potential regardless of gender.

Abstract

Therapeutic communication is used by health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or counselors, to help individuals overcome emotional, psychological, or physical problems. Therapeutic communication is an essential competency that vocational school students must have before doing practical fieldwork. This research aimed to determine the therapeutic communication knowledge profile of vocational high school students in health service expertise programs. This type of research is quantitative. The sampling technique used was a proportionate stratified random sampling of 71 people from all 238 vocational school students in health service expertise programs. Data collection was carried out quantitatively using questionnaires filled out directly by respondents. The research results show the average score based on class level, which shows that the three class levels have the same average score and are classified as not yet competent or below 70. The difference in the average score of class X to class XI and class XI to class III is insignificant. The level of therapeutic communication knowledge of 18% of students is competent, while 82% are classified as yet competent. Considering the importance of therapeutic competence for prospective health workers, it is hoped that the research results can become a reference and illustration for health vocational schools to increase competence in therapeutic communication for students.
