Abstract

Studying statistics during distance education is challenging due to limitations and communication problems. This has an impact on learning activities that could be more optimal. This research aims to analyze students' SQ3R level in learning statistics and determine its significant predictors. This type of research is quantitative research. The research design of this study is complex correlational research. The data collection method uses a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques use descriptive and inferential statistics. Secondary data from existing research studies were used and summarized using standard statistical metrics. In addition, ordinal regression analysis was used to determine the predictors of students' SQ3R level in statistics learning and was tested at a standard significance level. Findings reveal that students usually use the SQ3R method to learn statistics during online learning. The statistical model illustrates that students' ability to read and review statistics is shaped by the learning environment, teaching attitudes, physical and emotional health, and free time activities. The study suggests that to improve students' learning of statistics in distance education, educational institutions and professors should create a conducive learning environment, use strategic teaching methods, and emphasize the importance of harmonious study habits due to the SQ3R method.

Abstract

The implementation of learning skills in writing review texts is still oriented toward completing the tasks given by the teacher. This results in students needing help developing review text writing skills. This research examines how implementing a multimedia-based Project-Based Learning learning model and language attitudes affects students' review text writing skills in class VII SMP. Classified as a type of quantitative research, this research applies an experimental method with a 2×2 factorial design. The sample was taken from the entire population, namely class VII.1 was chosen as the experimental class, and class VII.2 was chosen as the control class with 60 students. Based on the analysis and discussion results, the multimedia-based project-based learning model is proven to improve learning outcomes for students' review of text writing skills compared to conventional learning models. The multimedia-based project-based learning model provides a basis for reflecting on effective teaching methods. These results indicate that involving students in multimedia projects can stimulate creativity and strengthen their understanding of writing concepts. Apart from that, this study's results confirm no interaction between the multimedia-based Project-based Learning learning model and language attitudes.

Abstract

The extent of lexical research has resulted in the development of word lists, which have to rely on consideration of code-glosses and their alternative words to understand their meaning and the status of these forms. This research tries to describe the Kawayan dialect lexicon from a list of 278 words that are more easily traced to the Bisayan family and appear to be Western Bisayan by utilizing and manipulating an Excel Pivot Table to trace timestamps to extract words from informants (native speakers). The research was submitted for cross-checking between coders to be reviewed and checked for validity and reliability as a protocol for verifying the accuracy of data collection from native speakers. This word list is essential in providing information about the genetic relationship of the Kawayan dialect to the Filipino language group. Additionally, digging deeper into how this research is presented and disseminated to its intended readers and scholars is productive and eye-opening. Since this is a pioneering investigation and documentation of the Kawayan dialect, although it may be annoying, at least it started as one of the distinctive features of other dialects yet to be included in the list of Filipino dialects. Researchers today urge us to explore and investigate this dialect before it disappears.

Abstract

One of the problems faced by student teachers is the low level of pedagogical and professional competence. To overcome this problem, one must find out the teacher's perception of these two competencies. Therefore, this research aims to analyze pre-service teachers' perceptions regarding the pedagogical and professional competence of students in the pre-service teacher professional education study program at the Islamic University of Malang. This type of research is quantitative research with a survey approach. This research population was conducted in 66 schools. The research sample consisted of 120 civil service teachers who assessed Teacher Professional Education (PPG) students who carried out practical learning activities. This research instrument is a questionnaire to determine the teacher's perception of students' pedagogical and professional competence, consisting of 64 valid and reliable statements. The results of filling out the questionnaire were analyzed by determining the average. The research results show that the average teacher's perception of prospective teacher students' pedagogical and professional competence is 4.61 and 4.66, which means very good. It is concluded that prospective teacher students have excellent pedagogical and professional competencies for each study program in Teacher Professional Education. Apart from that, the implications of the results of this research can be used by lecturers to improve professional and pedagogical competency indicators, which, on average, are still low through classroom learning.

Abstract

Teachers need help teaching subjects in MTB-MLE and other subjects because the language used is Cebuano. This has an impact on learning activities that could be more optimal. This study aims to analyze the difficulties faced by grade 3 students in implementing Cebuano-Visayan teaching and assess the management actions taken by school administrators and teachers. This research uses a descriptive research design. Data was collected using purposive sampling from 17 school administrators, 30 teachers, and 253 students. Data collection methods use observation and questionnaires. The arithmetic mean is used as a statistical tool. The research results show that school administrators often undertake various management actions to facilitate the implementation of Cebuano-Visayan. Speaking and grammar skills were moderately complex, while reading, comprehension, and vocabulary skills were identified as the most challenging for Grade 3 students. This research revealed that effective and adequate management strategies contribute to the learning difficulties encountered in Cebuano teaching Visayan. Despite efforts by school officials and teachers to address this situation, it continues and even worsens. Therefore, school leaders are advised to re-evaluate their school curricula and thoroughly assess the inclusion of the Cebuano-Visayan language in the lower elementary grades (Grades 1-3) to identify actual problems and provide appropriate interventions and practical solutions.

Abstract

Most students only focus on academic competence and need more entrepreneurial skills, making it challenging to develop potential outside the educational field and less ready to compete in the world of work. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of entrepreneurship education at the vocational high school level in shaping students' emotional and cognitive competencies to enter the field of entrepreneurship. The data collection method used in this research is a questionnaire using a data collection instrument: a questionnaire sheet with a Likert scale. The subjects involved in the study were 500 vocational high school students taken from 3 schools. After the data was collected, it was analyzed using the structural equation model data analysis method to analyze the variables' contribution. The results of this study indicate that entrepreneurship education can contribute to students' emotional and cognitive competencies by increasing and decreasing entrepreneurial interest. The contribution of students' emotional and cognitive competencies directly influences attitudes and interest in entrepreneurship and student self-efficacy. Thus, students with emotional competence will be more interested in entrepreneurship and considered more ready to become entrepreneurs. This study provides implications for school stakeholders that moderate entrepreneurship education can shape students' competencies and cognition in entrepreneurship so that entrepreneurship education can be used as an alternative program in schools.
