Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a widely recognized cardiovascular disease where patients' blood pressure rises above normal levels. Hypertension is also known as a "silent killer" because its symptoms only become apparent when complications occur. There are several management approaches for hypertension patients, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, such as those implemented by researchers who provided warm water soaking and hand massage. Objective: To determine the effect of warm water foot soaking therapy and hand massage on blood pressure and anxiety in hypertensive patients and to compare the effectiveness between the two interventions. Methods: The research design used in this study was quasi-experimental with a pre-post design with control group approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 48 respondents divided into 2 groups. Results: Differences in blood pressure before and after hand massage in the working area of Kombos Primary Health Center, Manado City, showed a p-value of 0.000, and there was a significant difference in blood pressure before and after warm water foot soaking therapy with a p-value of 0.000. Additionally, there was a difference in effectiveness between warm water foot soaking therapy and hand massage therapy with a p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: Foot soaking therapy using warm water and hand massage have an effect in reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension.

Abstract

Background: Hyperbilirubinemia is a major cause of neonatal jaundice and can result in serious neurological complications if not managed appropriately. Phototherapy is one of the effective interventions for reducing bilirubin levels in newborns. Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of phototherapy implementation in reducing bilirubin levels and jaundice severity in newborns with neonatal jaundice in the NICU setting. Methods: This was a descriptive case study of two infants with neonatal jaundice in the NICU ward of Siti Hajar Islamic Hospital Mataram in November 2023. Data were collected through direct observation, clinical documentation, and physical examination using standard guidelines for jaundice degrees according to Kramer. Results: After phototherapy for 3 days, there was a decrease in bilirubin levels in both patients. Patient 1 showed a reduction in jaundice degree from level V to III, and patient 2 from level IV to II, with an average decrease in bilirubin levels of 3.7 mg/dL. Conclusion: Phototherapy proved effective in reducing bilirubin levels in infants with neonatal jaundice. This intervention can be optimally implemented in NICU units as part of evidence-based neonatal nursing care.

Abstract

Hipertensi terbanyak pada derajat 1 sebanyak 32 responden (62,7%), natrium terbanyak kategori sering sebanyak 32 responden (58,8%), lemak terbanyak kategori jarang sebanyak 47 responden (92,2%), natrium_lemak terbanyak kategori jarang sebanyak 36 responden (70,6%), kalium terbanyak kategori jarang sebanyak 48 responden (94,1%).

Background: Breakfast plays an important role in fulfilling balanced nutrition, especially for school-age children. However, many students are not accustomed to eating breakfast, resulting in risks of decreased concentration, reduced immunity, and digestive disorders. Educational media such as animated videos have the potential to improve students' understanding and attitudes toward the importance of breakfast. Objective: To determine the effect of health education using animated videos on students' attitudes about the importance of breakfast. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach. The sample consisted of 36 students from grades 4 and 5 selected through accidental sampling. The intervention consisted of an animated video lasting 4 minutes and 13 seconds. Data collection used attitude questionnaires, and analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Students' average attitude scores increased from 7.03 before the intervention to 9.69 after, with a difference of 2.66 points. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the intervention on students' attitudes. Conclusion: Health education through animated videos is effective in improving students' attitudes toward the importance of breakfast and can serve as an alternative nutrition education medium at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Background: Patient-centered care (PCC) represents the gold standard in healthcare delivery. Nursing leadership plays a critical role in implementing PCC; however, organizational barriers remain insufficiently explored. Methods: This systematic review employed the SPIDER framework (Sample, Phenomenon of Interest, Design, Evaluation, Research Type). Academic databases searched included PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, with articles published between 2020 and 2025. Results: Three key themes emerged from the analysis. The first theme encompasses barriers, including toxic leadership (57%), rigid hierarchical structures (50%), and high workloads (63%). The second theme relates to facilitating factors, consisting of transformational leadership (79%) and interprofessional collaboration (86%). The third theme involves technological support, reflected in the utilization of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and digital feedback tools (71%). Conclusion: Transforming nursing leadership to support PCC requires deconstructing hierarchical structures, strategic resource allocation, and implementing simulation-based communication training.
