Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of social support and forgiveness on psychological well-being in early adult women after experiencing a breakup. This type of research is quantitative cross-sectional using purposive sampling technique. The sample characteristics in this study are adult women aged 18-40 years who have experienced a breakup for at least one year. The number of respondents was 542 participants. This research instrument uses a social support scale, based on the theory of Zimet, dkk. (1998) with a reliability result of 0.904. The pemaafan scale is based on McCullough’s (2000) theory with a reliability result of 0.928. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression analysis method by showing that there is a simultaneous influence between social support and pemaafan. The amount of social support and pemaafan variables can affect psychological well-being in adult women by 47.8% with the remaining 52.2% influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period marked by increasing self‑direction. This study examined whether father involvement and family functioning are associated with adolescent autonomy. Using multistage cluster sampling across several districts/cities in Central Java, Indonesia, we analysed survey data from 929 adolescents aged 12–19 years. Participants completed validated scales of adolescent autonomy, family functioning, and father involvement. Statistical analysis was conducted using the bootstrapping technique to test the strength of the relationship and its effects. The results indicated that both family functioning and father involvement had a significant positive relationship with adolescent autonomy. Increased family functioning and active father involvement were associated with higher levels of autonomy in adolescents. Findings suggest that adolescents tend to report higher autonomy in supportive family climates with engaged fathers, informing family‑based strategies to strengthen self‑regulation and decision‑making. These insights provide practical implications for strengthening adolescent psychosocial development through family-based interventions.

Abstract

Workplace safety is vital for employee well-being and organizational success, especially in high-risk sectors like Indonesia’s energy industry. In Indonesia, the number of workplace accidents increased from 370,747 cases in 2023 to 462,241 in 2024. The energy sector is one of the largest contributors to workplace accidents in Indonesia. Ensuring safety compliance is key, and safety leadership is recognized as a major enabler, though its relationship to compliance is not fully understood. This study examines how safety culture mediates the effect of safety leadership on compliance in high-risk organizations. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 202 employees of a multinational mining company and analyzed with Hayes’ PROCESS Model 4. Instruments were adapted to Indonesian and tested for reliability. Findings show that safety culture partially mediates the relationship between safety leadership and safety compliance. The results highlight the need for organizations to empower leaders to actively promote safety leadership in order to boost compliance with occupational safety standards.

Abstract

A recidivist is an individual who reoffends after serving a previous sentence, which is often associated with low Self-Control. Low Self-Control can be influenced by traumatic childhood experiences, also known as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This study aimed to analyze the effect of ACEs on the Self-Control of recidivists in women’s correctional institutions. The research used a quantitative correlational design. The study population consisted of 549 inmates, and the sample comprised 107 female recidivists selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments were the WHO ACE-IQ and the Indonesian-adapted Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with JASP 0.19.3 software. The results showed that ACEs had a significant negative effect on Self-Control, explaining 8.7% of its variance (p < 0.01). These findings highlight the importance of trauma-based psychological rehabilitation to improve Self Control and help prevent recidivism in women’s correctional institutions.

Abstract

The background of this study is based on the importance of social support and self-esteem in the adaptation process of adolescents, especially in the context of life in pesantren. This study aimed to examine the effect of social support on adolescent self-adjustment with self-esteem as a mediating variable. The participants of this study were 120 santris who completed three psychological scales: social support, self-esteem, and self-adjustment. Data were analyzed using path analysis with JASP software version 0.19.3. The results showed that social support significantly influenced self-adjustment both directly (β = 0.399; p < 0.001) and indirectly through self-esteem as a partial mediator (β = 0.171; p < 0.001), with a total effect of β = 0.570 (p < 0.001). These findings highlight the important role of social support in promoting adolescents' adjustment, both directly and through improving self-esteem, and suggest the importance of strengthening the social support system in the home education environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-esteem and self-disclosure with subjective well-being among users of the Bumble online dating application in Semarang. The background of this research is based on the increasing use of dating applications as a medium of social interaction, which may influence users’ psychological well-being. Subjective well-being in this study was measured through two key aspects: life satisfaction and affect. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 384 respondents selected using purposive sampling based on specific criteria: aged 18–28 years, having verified accounts, and active use of the Bumble application for more than two years. Data were collected through online questionnaires using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), Coopersmith’s self-esteem scale, and Altman & Taylor’s self-disclosure scale. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The findings indicate that self-esteem and self-disclosure simultaneously have a significant effect on subjective well-being, particularly on life satisfaction (R² = 0.785; p < 0.05). Partially, both variables also showed a significant positive effect on life satisfaction; however, neither had a significant effect on affect, whether simultaneously or individually. The categorization results showed that most respondents had high levels of self-esteem, self-disclosure, and life satisfaction, while affect tended to fall into the moderate category. It can be concluded that self-confidence and openness play an important role in enhancing the subjective well-being of online dating application users, particularly in the cognitive dimension related to life satisfaction evaluation. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of psychological strategies that support the well-being of digital application users such as Bumble, and to offer practical input for application developers in creating features that support users’ subjective well-being, especially in the evaluative aspect of life.

Abstract

Homicide is a phenomenon that threatens public safety and security, understanding the factors that causes this crime is an important step towards prevention. This study aims to describe the psychological dynamics of a premeditated murder perpetrator using a qualitative approach and case study design. The subject was an inmate in Prison X. Data were collected through interviews and psychological assessments, including graphic tests (BAUM, DAP, HTP, and WZT), the Rorschach, the Hare Psychopathy Checklist, and the SPM test. The results shows that the murder was influenced by predisposing factors such as an underdeveloped ego, aggression and impulsivity leading to maladaptive emotion regulation, emotional sensitivity and instability, anxiety related to close relationships, inappropriate internalization of norms and values, limited intellectual capacity and interests, and a tendency to suppress, ignore, and eliminate discomfort and its triggering stimuli — patterns developed from neglectful parenting and early unmet needs for love. The precipitating factors are being included in a community that encouraged aggression, and the wife’s infidelity as the emotional trigger.

Abstract

Self-diagnosing mental health disorders has become increasingly common among Gen Z women active on social media. This qualitative phenomenological study explores their subjective experiences and the impact of self-diagnosis on emotional regulation and social relationships. Fifteen female participants aged 18–24, who had consciously self-diagnosed based on exposure to mental health content on TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), were interviewed using semi-structured in-depth methods. Data were analyzed through Creswell’s phenomenological procedures. Three major themes emerged: self-diagnosis as a form of self-understanding, emotional regulation through psychological labeling, and shifts in social dynamics due to lack of validation from close environments and increased reliance on online communities. The findings suggest that self-diagnosis serves both as a coping strategy and a reflection of limited access to professional services and low mental health literacy. This study contributes to emotional regulation and identity development theories in the digital era, highlighting the urgency of inclusive mental health education and adolescent-friendly policies.
