Abstract

Ubud is a world-class tourist destination renowned for its unique blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and spirituality rooted in the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. The accelerated growth of tourism necessitates a sustainable development approach to ensure a balance between economic growth and environmental and socio-cultural preservation. The objective of this study is to analyze tourist behavior in support of sustainable tourism practices in Bali, with a particular focus on Ubud. The present study was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method, with the Rapid Assessment Procedure (RAP) being applied. The sampling technique employed was that of accidental sampling. The data collection process entailed the administration of Likert-scale questionnaires, the conduction of in-depth interviews, and direct observations at tourist sites. The analysis focused on tourists' perceptions of their behavior in relation to supporting sustainable tourism involving environmental, sociocultural, and educational aspects. The results of this study suggest that tourists actively support sustainability based on their moral values, which involve allocentric, psychocentric, and midcentric behaviors. This research contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of building resilient cities (Goal 11) and ensuring the sustainability of terrestrial ecosystems (Goal 15).

Abstract

As one of the fastest-growing industries, the hotel industry is a pivotal part of the tourism industry. A hotel's success in tourism development can be measured, among other things, by the length of stay guests maintain. Therefore, this study aims to map and deeply understand the factors influencing guests’ decisions to extend their stay in both star-rated and non-star hotels in Padang City. The exploration in this study is intended to build a conceptual understanding based on guest experiences and verify the alignment of field findings with consumer behavior and service quality theories. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 hotel guests selected purposively, representing various accommodation categories, during the period of March to May 2024. The results indicate five main factors affecting the length of stay: hotel facilities, service quality, pricing, location, and emotional experience. These findings are supported by the perceived value theory (Zeithaml, 1988), which suggests that consumer decisions are influenced by the perceived benefits relative to the costs incurred. Furthermore, the role of online reputation as a form of social influence reinforces the findings of Long (2022) regarding the impact of online reviews on accommodation preferences. Star-rated hotels tend to attract guests with complete facilities and professional services, while non-star hotels rely more on affordable pricing and friendly staff. The main contribution of this study lies in offering a locally grounded perspective on hotel guest behavior in Indonesia, particularly in Padang, while also providing strategic insights for hotel managers to design more adaptive and personalized services. These findings offer practical implications for enhancing guest loyalty and encouraging extended stays by strengthening key service aspects aligned with guest motivations and expectations.

Abstract

The development of natural tourism in urban areas is one of the important strategies in supporting ecosystem balance and improving the quality of life of the community. This study aims to identify the supporting components of tourism based on the 7A concept which includes attraction, accessibility, amenities, activities, ancillary services, available packages, and awareness, in two natural tourist destinations in Pangkalpinang City, namely Pasir Padi Beach and Tuatunu Urban Forest. The method used is qualitative descriptive through field observation, visual documentation, analysis of planning documents and analysis of tourism development based on 7A Concepts. The results of the study show that Pasir Padi Beach has advantages in terms of accessibility and facilities, but still requires improvement in sustainable management and promotion. Meanwhile, the Tuatunu Urban Forest has strong ecological and educational potential, but it is limited in terms of infrastructure, accessibility, and supporting facilities. Development strategies that involve local governments, business actors, and the community collaboratively are needed to realize sustainable and competitive natural tourism destinations, as well as support the socio-economic welfare of the community in Pangkalpinang City.

Abstract

Kampung Seni Batam is a community-driven initiative that emerged as a response to the limited cultural expression space within the industrial-dominated landscape of Batam City. This study aims to formulate relevant development and promotion strategies to position Kampung Seni as a sustainable creative tourism destination based on community participation. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and digital documentation. The findings reveal that Kampung Seni possesses strong potential supported by organic community involvement, local cultural identity, and creative activities that encourage direct interaction between artists and visitors. However, limited structured digital promotion, the absence of formal institutional support, and the lack of educational tourism packages remain key challenges in destination development. The integration of the Triple Bottom Line framework (People, Planet, Profit) and the STP approach (Segmenting, Targeting, Positioning) produces a community-based promotion strategy that emphasizes authentic experience and narrative through the tagline “Experience Local Art, Meet the Community.” This research contributes to the development of a replicable model for community-based creative destinations as an alternative form of urban tourism development.

Abstract

The development of sustainable tourism in rural areas increasingly relies on innovation and digital transformation. This study investigates the influence of technology adoption and social media branding on sustainable tourism, with green tourism supply chains (GTSC) acting as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 385 respondents who are tourism stakeholders in Banten Province through a structured questionnaire. The analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS software. The results reveal that both technology adoption and social media branding significantly influence sustainable tourism, directly and indirectly through GTSC. Social media branding had the strongest effect, followed by technology adoption. GTSC also significantly mediates the relationship between both independent variables and sustainable tourism. These findings highlight the importance of integrated strategies that combine digital innovation with green operational practices. It is recommended that tourism village stakeholders enhance digital capabilities, build green supply networks, and utilize social media strategically to support sustainability goals

Abstract

In the digital era, marketing strategies have evolved to include digital content and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to enhance consumer engagement. Advertising content, which aims to inform and engage, helps shape perceptions of products or services, while KOLs—social media influencers—play a significant role in influencing public opinion and consumer decisions. Both elements are essential in competitive industries, such as hospitality. This study explores the impact of advertising content and KOLs on consumer interest in visiting Novotel Bogor Golf Resort & Convention Center. A quantitative approach was used, distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents, including potential customers and previous guests. Data analysis was conducted with SmartPLS, covering validity, reliability, and hypothesis testing. The results show that advertising content has a positive effect on visit interest, but it is statistically insignificant. In contrast, the influence of KOLs is both positive and statistically significant, indicating that KOLs are more effective in attracting consumer interest. Their closer interaction with audiences and ability to deliver authentic, visually engaging content, particularly in videos, significantly enhance consumer engagement.

Abstract

One important activity for tourism promotion is organizing various MICE (Meeting Incentive Conference Exhibition) events on both local and international scales. MICE is a business primarily supported by SMEs, both as organizers and suppliers/vendors. However, MICE business owners often don't understand how to keep their businesses sustainable, and suppliers often just hope their businesses continue without understanding how. This research aims to identify factors that can support the business continuity of MICE industry players. The study was conducted using the grounded theory model, starting with in-depth interviews with event organizers and suppliers in Yogyakarta to identify factors that would be used to develop a theory, with the assistance of coding in NVIVO software. These factors, which were transformed into a theory, were then directly tested on business actors (80 respondents) using multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of the regression test, it was found that the 8 keywords generated from NVIVO data processing do indeed have a significant influence on supporting the sustainability of the MICE business, both partially and simultaneously. The eight keywords are Commitment & Contract, Innovation & Novelty of Event; Mutual Partnership; Payment; Portfolio & Experience; Product Quality; Profit; Zero Complaint.
