Journal of Educational, Health, and Community Psychology (JEHCP) published an article, and empirical study that have originality, novelty and fill the gap of knowledge, that focused on educational psychology, health psychology and community psychology. JEHCP is an open access peer reviewed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes quality studies related to psychology. JEHCP is interdisciplinary in approach, and includes to reports of qualitative case studies, quantitative experiments and surveys, mixed method studies, action researches, meta-analyses, and discussions of conceptual and methodological issues. The field of educational psychology includes the effectiveness of educational interventions, the psychology of teaching, and the social psychology of schools as organizations, motor skills and other psycho-physiological processes; cognitive development involving areas such as problem solving, language acquisition; social, personality, and emotional development; self-concept and identity formation. The field of Health Psychology includes the stress-related ilnesses, the health coping strategy, resiliency, work on health attitudes and behaviour, health locus of control, quality of life in chronic disease, influence of emotion on health and health-related behaviours, psychological interventions in health and disease as well as psychological aspects of prevention. The field of Community Psychology includes research, evaluation, assessment and intervention, and review articles that deal with human behavior in community settings. Articles of interest include descriptions and evaluations of service programs and projects, studies of youth, parenting, and family development, methodology and design for work in the community, the interaction of groups in the larger community, and criminals and corrections.

Abstract

Today organizations around the world are dominated by millennial employees and are in the career development stage as leaders. Personal growth is an essential aspect of leadership, especially for female leaders who have different experiences from male leaders. When someone is consciously, intensely, and engaged in the process of personal growth, this is called a personal growth initiative that has a positive function on life and the organization. For this reason, this study aims to understand how personal growth initiatives are on millennial women leaders. This research uses a phenomenological qualitative approach. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews with 5 millennial women leaders. The results show three main themes: (1) There are different meanings related to personal growth initiatives in female leaders, (2) There are several obstacles that originate from outside and within millennial women leaders in the process of personal growth initiatives, (3) factors which drive the personal growth initiative of millennial women leaders comes from internal and external factors. The findings in this study are expected to be a meaningful contribution to understanding the personal growth initiative of millennial women leaders.

Abstract

Grandparenting could have a positive and negative effect on family harmony. This study aims to better understand the influence of grandmother’s grandparenting role towards family harmony. This phenomenological study used data derived from interviewing and observing five participants. The data were analyzed using interpretative phenomenology. The findings of this study found nine themes: the meaning of grandchildren for grandmother, the reason of grandmothers parenting, grandmothers way of parenting, the effect of family’s social economics, the relationship of grandmothers with family members, grandmothers problem solving to overcome family conflict, grandmothers role in the family, the emotional bonding between grandmother and grandchildren, Grandmothers feelings while grandparenting. The grandmothers’ parenting role could positively and negatively influence family harmony, depending on the meaning of grandchildren for the grandmothers. When the grandmother could accept the grandchildren, it will make the grandmother happy and affect family harmony.

Abstract

This study's purpose is to analyze the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental WellBeing Scale (WEMWBS) using the Rasch model measurement analysis to test its reliability of measurements, item fit statistics, rating scale functions, and differential item functioning. A total of 855 Indonesian samples completed 14-items in the Indonesian version of WEMWBS. The Rasch analysis indicates that the data fit the model, the item-person reliability is above 0.8, and the item-person separation is above the minimum requirement.  All items in the instrument have met the statistic criteria indices in terms of outfit mean square as all item-measure correlation is above 0.4.  The Likert rating scale analyses found the scale functioning properly and free from disordered thresholds. Lastly, DIF by gender was detected in three items. Further testing and refinement need to be conducted to ensure the reliability of the Indonesian version of WEMWBS.Keywords: Mental Well-Being, WEMWBS, Validation, Rasch model, DIF.

Abstract

To fill the gap of a comprehensive taxonomic framework that includes language and identity-related concepts, a taxonomy of bilingual identities was arranged at psychological, social and cultural levels drawing on Schelling’s Theory of Symbolic Language. The proposed taxonomy enables addressing nonlinearity and dynamicity of L2 motivation by utilizing nonlinear dynamic motivational strategies. Addressing the psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of L2 motivation from a bilingual perspective enables L2 teachers to keep the identified motivational factors in motion regardless of their homogeneity or heterogeneity throughout the learning-teaching process. Addressing the diverse nature of individual learner differences without pushing the learner group toward equal and static performance despite the motivational heterogeneity at the cost of forming a cohesive learner group is the main theoretical implication of the study.

Abstract

The FonF practice model (focus on form) as a technology-oriented pedagogical model was contextualized to examine its efficacy on the second language (L2) learners' intentional and incidental vocabulary learning in computer-assisted language learning (CALL)as an attempt to integrate the emerging educational technologies into L2 learning. To this end, a sample of 55 medical ESP learners participated in a mixed methods research study that administered the FonF practice model-based treatment as the educational intervention among the experimental group. The findings confirmed the efficacy of the FonF practice model in developing incidental and intentional vocabulary learning among the participants who used technology-based tools at form, meaning, and communication levels. Theoretically, the main implication is the need to address individual differences in general and nonlinearity and dynamicity of motivation in particular. Pedagogically, L2 teachers are suggested to benefit from reported CALL tools to boost incidental and intentional vocabulary learning for ESP purposes.

Abstract

Although there has been extensive research on job satisfaction, the theoretical possibilities may be limited. In general, most of the research focuses only on job-demand factors. However, this study focuses on the emotional and physical demands on job satisfaction. Using the 5th wave of IFLS data, this study aims to determine the effect of marital status upon the relationship between emotional and physical demands on employee satisfaction in Indonesia. The results of research from 19,395 Indonesian employees show that marital status is a mediator in the relationship between emotional and physical demands on job satisfaction. The findings suggest that marital status underpins negative outcomes of emotional and physical demands on job satisfaction in Indonesia. Additionally, the present study found that gender differences affect job satisfaction. Traditional role values and gender concepts are discussed. demand; physical demands; marital status

Abstract

Referring to the theory of planned behavior, behavior appear because of behavior intention, where personality was one of behavior intention’s factor. The aims of this study was to examine the correlation between dark triad personality and corrupt intention in government employees. Data were collected using accidental sampling with cross-sectional survey quantitative research design on 75 government employees from four different sub-district. The result showed that there was a significant positive correlation between dark triad personality and corrupt intention (r=0,415; p=0,001). Additional analysis showed that corruption is a crime caused of weak regulation system and supervision (PBC r=0,665). Last but not least, dark triad personality’s aspect narcissism was the most influenced of corrupt intention (r=0,413). The theoretical implication found in this study was, dark triad personality is nit direct predictor of corrupt intention, but an indirect predictor through attitude towards behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavior control.

Abstract

Abstract Parental care has a significant influence on children’s digital technology use (Ozgür, 2016 ; Valcke, Bonte, De Wever & Rots, 2010). The purpose of this literature review is to know the characteristics of the participants of the articles, the type of measurement, the type of digital parenting and the digital parenting determinant factors. The method used is a systematic literature review. The article search was done online by using the keywords “digital parenting” and/or “parental mediation of internet use”. A total of 20 articles in the period of 2011-2020 were used to carry out this literature review taken from Sagehub, Science Direct, Ebscohost and Proquest Dissertation. The results of the literature review show that most of the participants in these articles are parents who have children from childhood to adolescence and come from Caucasian races. The measuring instrument used in the quantitative approach is a questionnaire on parental mediation of internet use from previous studies or a questionnaire that has been modified according to the research setting. Meanwhile, the interview method and focus group discussion were used for the qualitative approach. The types of parental mediation of internet use that appear are active parental mediation, restrictive parental mediation, monitoring parental mediation, supportive parental mediation, and co-use/co-viewing parental mediation. While the role of parental mediation of internet use is mostly a dependent variable, in several articles it acts as a predictor variable. This shows the existence of internal factors and external factors that affect parental mediation in parents. The results of this literature review can be a foothold for other researchers who are interested in conducting research on digital parenting of parents in children’s digital technology use.Keywords: digital parenting, parental mediation of internet use, parents, adolescence

Abstract

Millennial generation employees were expected to have the ability to create and innovate. This ability will lead to creative behaviour particularly when companies support employee welfare which was strengthened by organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB). The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviour as a mediator of perceived organizational support (POS) for creative behaviour. The number of research participants was 157 millennial generation employees from Indonesian start-up companies. Data were collected using the creative behaviour scale (α = 0.887), the POS scale (α = 0.945), and the OCB scale (α = 0.951). The results of the study based on the path analysis method showed that the indirect effect had a coefficient of 0.339 (p <0.05), which means that there was a positive relationship between POS and creative behaviour through OCB. The positive sign on the correlation coefficient showed the direction of a positive relationship, which means that the higher the POS employees have, the higher the employee's creative behaviour through OCB. OCB as a mediator contributed 46.4% to POS towards creative behaviour.Keywords: millennial generation, organizational citizenship behaviour,                               perceived organizational support, creative behaviour

Abstract

AbstractFlourishing is a combination of feeling good and functioning effectively. Flourishing includes not only cognitive, and affective aspects, but also behavior directed at productive actions. Then, it is known that the flourishing condition in a person is influenced by several factors namely; perceived stress, social support, and coping strategies. This study aims to discuss research findings related to the role of perceived stress, social support, and coping strategies on flourishing. Several research articles were obtained through an online search system of electronic research articles, namely PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. The keywords used in the search are perceived stress, stress, social support, coping style, coping strategy, and flourishing. A total of 13 articles were reviewed through filtering based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings show that perceived stress, social support, and coping strategies have an important role in shaping flourishing conditions. Furthermore, the various instruments used in various articles vary greatly according to the researchers' concepts and approaches in looking at each variable.Keywords: perceived stress, social support, coping strategies, and flourishing
