Instagram is one of the social media platforms that allow people to compare themselves with others (social comparison). Seeing the popularity of SNS, this study explores the role of social comparison as a mediator of the influence of Instagram usage intensity on users' self-esteem. The study was conducted using a mediation test technique through the PROCESS program, with 158 participants (25.95% male and 74.05% female) in the age range 18-25 years (M = 21.53, SD = 1.21). The measurement tools used were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), questions relating to social comparison behavior on Instagram, and the average duration spent using Instagram. The findings show that downward social comparison did not act as a mediator in predicting the influence of Instagram usage on young adults' self-esteem. On the contrary, our findings suggested upward social comparison mediates the relationship between Instagram usage and self-esteem. The implication of this study will be further discussed.Â

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of gender role orientation and marriage adjustment on the emergence of gender role conflict of pastors’ husbands. This research uses a non-experimental quantitative research method and is analyzed using SEM-PLS (Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Squares). This study uses three scales, namely The Gender-role Conflict Scale developed by O'Neil., et al (1986) to measure gender role conflict, Sex Role Orientation Inventory (SROI) developed by Tomeh (1978) to measure orientation of gender roles, and The Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) from Spanier (1976) used to measure marriage adjustment. The subjects in this research are husbands of GBKP pastors totaling 79 people. Based on the hypothesis testing, it is revealed that marital adjustment influences gender role conflict in pastors’ husbands, whereas gender role orientation does not affect the pastor husband's gender role conflict. Researchers who are interested in examining gender role conflicts in men are expected to be able to include other variables that have not been studied in this research, such as spirituality, religiosity, coping strategies, cultural influences, etc., in order to enrich and develop the science of psychology, especially social psychology.

Although the job demands-resources model (JD-R) is getting much attention in the literature, there is limited, if any, empirical research in Indonesia. This study used the JD-R model to predict job satisfaction in Indonesia with a sample of 17,177 employees. Using data from the 5th wave of the Indonesian Family Life Survey, Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM) were performed for data analysis. The main findings revealed a positive relationship between job resources and job satisfaction, and a negative relationship between challenging job demands and job satisfaction beyond the contribution of gender, age, education, marital status, and job type. The findings of this study suggest that managers should provide employees with more resources and engage them in crafting behaviors. Keywords: job demands, job resources, job satisfaction, JD-R model, Indonesia

AbstractThe prevalence of smoking among adolescents is relatively high and continues to increase. Providing information or knowledge about the dangers of smoking and encouragement to quit smoking is necessary. Discussion and outbound methods are expected to improve knowledge and attitudes towards smoking. This study aimed to identify the improvement in knowledge and attitudes towards smoking following discussion and outbound activities. This was a quasi-experimental study with a total of 30 subjects aged 12-25 years old recruited using the consecutive method. Subjects were requested to complete a pre-test and post-test about their knowledge of smoking as well as an attitude questionnaire after participating in a discussion and outbound (outdoor motivational training). The paired T-test or Wilcoxon test was employed in the statistical analysis (95% confidence level, α = 0.05). A total of 11 adolescents were smokers (36.7%). The knowledge pre-test and post-test scores were 70.83±13.47 and 75.21±16.37 (p=0.063), while those for attitudes were 77.73±11.26 and 78.4±10.35 (p=0.674), respectively. To conclude, there was no improvement in the knowledge or attitudes towards smoking after the knowledge transferred through discussion and outbound. Keywords: Outdoor motivational training, smoking, discussion, knowledge, attitudes

This study aims to determine the psychological needs of klitih perpetrators in Yogyakarta. The main objective of this research was to describe the psychological needs of klitih perpetrators in Yogyakarta. This study’s participants consist of three males with the following criteria: (1) aged 18-24, (2) klitih perpetrators, and (3) lives in Yogyakarta. The research method used was qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. Data collection was conducted using the Personality Test (TAT), equipped with an interview. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. The findings reveal five dominant psychological needs of klitih perpetrators, such as the need for warmth and support (need for affiliation) and the need to seek help or sympathy (need for succorance). The need for freedom (need for autonomy) appeared to emerge strongly against the pressure from permissive and less warm family background, causing the participant to spend more time outside their homes. The need for violence (need for aggression) and the need for recognition (need for achievement) also appeared to arise due to the social environment’s demands, which then influence the participant to commit acts of klitih. This research shows the psychological needs of klitih perpetrators that can be channeled through other activities. Therefore, alternative positive activities that can meet these five primary needs should be developed to prevent adolescents from being involved in acts of klitih in schools, families, communities, and the Yogyakarta government.

The association between physical activity and mental health have been found bidirectional in the literature. However, evidence of this bidirectional association is lacking from developing countries. This study was aimed at investigating the bidirectional relationship between physical activity frequency and mental health in old age using data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey with a sample of 8,323 old individuals aged between 45 and 90 years. The results revealed that the bidirectional association holds true in old age. Specifically, an increase of one unit in frequency of physical activity is associated with a decrease of 14% in depression after controlling for a set of confounding variables. Similarly, an increase of one unit in depression is associated with a decrease of 3.4% in frequency of physical activity. The results of this study suggest that health policies should take into account the importance of the frequency of physical activity. Keywords: frequency of physical activity, mental health, depression, old age, Indonesia

These days, regular students’ behaviors still reflect a low acceptance of students with special educational needs (SEN). Previous studies have revealed that the crucial factors to examine are regular students’ knowledge about disabilities and attitudes. This study aims to determine the extent to which these two factors contribute to their acceptance of SEN. This quantitative research was conducted on 1248 participants from 14 public junior high schools in DKI Jakarta. Multiple linear regression analysis was run to determine peer acceptance from knowledge about disabilities and attitude. These variables statistically significantly contributed to peer acceptance, F(2, 1245) = 612.951, p < .05, R2 = .496. Both variables added statistically significantly to peer acceptance, p < .05. While both knowledge and attitude matter in peer acceptance towards SEN, implications for practice should also involve developing an intervention program that not only focuses on knowledge only but also targeting positive changes in attitudes. Keywords: peer acceptance, special educational needs students, adolescent, public schools

Abstract Research on coparenting has been quite developed in the last four decades. In Indonesia, research related to coparenting still deals with father involvement in child care. While in other countries various coparenting behavior models have been developed in various context. This systematic review examines the empirical literature in the last ten years focusing on the determinants of coparenting behavior in intact family. Although at the beginning of its development coparenting research was carried out on divorced couples, this review examined the determinants of coparenting behavior in married couples. From several databases, the results show that determinants of coparenting behavior are involving of parental characteristics, child characteristics, marital relationships, and intervention program. It is expected that the results of this study can become a reference for conducting researchers on coparenting behavior especially in Indonesian family. Keywords: parenting, coparenting, intact familyÂ

AbstractDoes Facebook have an effect on English teachers in France? For this, a group of 85 secondary school English teachers in France aged 21 to 50+ were recruited from Facebook’s English teacher groups and answered an online questionnaire on their usages and practices. We observed no differences as regards to age and frequency of use, no effect between the number of associations to English teachers’ groups and professional growth, no significant relationship between the amount of participation and support used and professional growth in time, finally, sharing lessons online was a significant predictor of how some English teachers help others grow professionally. Regrettably, this study was limited to only a few groups. Thus, investigating the use of SNS in a broader context could open the possibility for the development of future research on this field. Keywords: Facebook, English teachers, France, practices
