Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to discuss the problems in the integration of character and wisdom in sociology  learning. The study was conducted in the city of Banda Aceh. The results show that many teachers do not understand and have not mastered the way to make a lesson plan that is loaded with local values??. Learning is not yet based upon lokal wisdom, even some teachers argued that the material of lokal values ??is not necessary for various reasons. Teacher empowerment is still minimum. Therefore, the mandate of Qanun ( regulation ) No. 5 of 2000 , Qanun No. 6 in 2000 and UUPA No. 11 2006 on Regional Government of Aceh for adoption of lokal wisdom has not been achieved. © 2013 Universitas Negeri Semarang

Abstract

The research concerned here was to know the economic rationality of residents who dwelled again in their former village after the eruption of Mount Merapi in 2010 and refused to be relocated by the government. A combined research method, namely, a combination between a qualitative method and a quantitative one, was used to uncover the rationality. The qualitative part of the research was conducted first by deciding informants considered knowledgeable about the matter under research. Then the informants were interviewed in turns decided via snowball sampling. Some secondary data were used to support the qualitative research. As for the quantitative part of the research, it was conducted afterwards by turning members of the households in the village into respondents. The finding of the research is as follows. The residents perceive the disaster not only as a dangerous natural phenomenon but also as an economic blessing because tourists’ visits to the areas suffering from the impact of the disaster enable residents to have activities that have economic value. That economic rationality was what motivated them to return to their village though its condition is categorized by the government as unfit for dwelling.

Abstract

The global trend to transform land management responsibility from the state to 'communities' or local user groups has neglected the implications of intra-community power differences for the effectiveness and equity of land management. Despite the rhetoric about gender equality that has mushroomed in recent years, a review of evidence from several countries in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, has shown that female participation is very minimal in land management. One basic reason for this is the formal and informal institutional exclusion of women. Moreover, the bargaining power of women within households and communities is categorized as 'lip-service' because patriarchy is seen as bonded to culture or tradition. Further detailed and comparative research is required to identify and analyze the major factors that affect women's access and control over land resources, especially regarding how culture and local wisdom can accommodate this issue and ensure the participation of women in the management of resources.
