Abstract

This article discusses a study regarding the relationship between reading intensity and story writing skills. The research method used is correlation research with a quantitative approach. The research population involved all fourth-grade elementary school students. The sampling technique used a random sampling technique with the formula of Isaac and Michael with the number of 78 students. Data collection techniques were based on questionnaire and measurement techniques, namely using reading intensity questionnaires and story writing skills tests. The data analysis technique used was Product Moment Correlation. The results showed that 1) the level of students' reading intensity was classified as good in the medium category with an average value of 44.69, 2) the level of story writing skills was categorized as good with an overall average of 59.5, and 3) there was a relationship between reading intensity and story writing skills with an average score of 5.89, with a correlation value of 0.56, and a coefficient of determination with an average score of 31.36%. Based on the results of the research that has been done, therefore, there was a relationship between reading intensity and story writing skills.

Abstract

This article explains a study that aims to find out how the validity, feasibility, and benefit of a scientific approach-based Mathematics module for elementary school students at grade IV toward two-dimensional materials. The research method used is research and development. The method used for data collection was a questionnaire. The results of research and development were conducted with several stages by using the 4D development research model. The results of the module validity that were based on the validation of material experts were 93% categorized as very valid, 95% from linguists were categorized as very valid, 92% from media experts were categorized as very valid, and the feasibility based on the assessment of the teacher's responses with a percentage of 93% was categorized as very feasible. Subsequently, the assessment of the module feasibility based on student responses by 10 indicators was obtained 92% categorized as very feasible. Thus, the learning media for the mathematics module based on a scientific approach was very feasible to be used for elementary school students at grade IV.

Abstract

This article reports a study that properly proves the effectiveness of the inside- outside circle in improving cognitive abilities through science learning for class V. The researcher used quantitative research. The research method used was quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design. The data collection technique used was a test instrument with a population of 69 students for classes VA and VB. Related to the results of the pretest, the average value of the experimental class was 68.10 and the control class was 57.33. Based on the posttest results, it was obtained that the average value of the control class was 57.50 and the experimental class was 77.07, which meant that it was 8.97 higher than the control class. It was reinforced by the results of hypothesis testing, the negative rank value of the experimental class learning outcomes was 0.00, which means there was an effect, and the statistical test obtained a significant value of 0.00 < 0.05, which means that there was an improvement. It shows the effectiveness of the application of the IOC in improving cognitive abilities that could be obtained from student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The existence of a pandemic has changed the learning process, which is usuallyimplemented face-to-face between teachers and students at schools become online learningfrom home. The study described in this article aims to investigate the learning discipline of elementary school (SD) students during online learning, either in the village or city based on the teacher's perspective. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection used interviews and recording methods. The research instrument used was an interview guide, google form, and a recording device by cell phone. The participants involved three elementary school teachers who taught in the village and three elementary school teachers who taught in the city. The results of data collection were then analyzed and produced five themes, which were (1) discipline of time and actions (2) students’ learning activities, (3) differences in learning disciplines, (4) efforts and teacher cooperation, and (5) efficiency of cultivating learning disciplines. The results showed that based on the teacher's perspective, students' learning discipline during online learning changed in various aspects, in fact, not significantly, only influenced a small number of students in the class. However, teachers overall considered that the learning discipline during online learning tends to be less, thus, it is better to implement face-to-face learning at school. It was implemented either for elementary schools in the village or urban areas.

Abstract

This article discusses a study that aims to determine the effect of animated video media on mathematics learning outcomes for fourth-grade students at SDN Dukuh 09 Pagi. The research refers to a quantitative approach. The type of research method used was quasi- experimental research with a post-test-only control group design. In this design, it involved two classes, class IV A as a control class with 32 students and class IV B as an experimental class with 32 students. The data collection process was carried out by providing a post-test to the two classes. To determine the results of the study, it was used the T-Test formula. The determination was Ho rejected if Tcount > Ttable and Ho accepted if Tcount < Ttable. The test results of the research indicated that Tcount was 7.391 and Ttable was 1.999 with a significant level (a)0.05. Because Tcount > Ttable was 7,391 > 1,999, therefore, it could be concluded that there was an effect of animated video media on mathematics learning outcomes for fourth-grade students.

Abstract

This article explains the effectiveness of ethnomathematics-based mathematics modules on students’ critical thinking skills. The research method used is a quantitative method with the type of post-test only control design with a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through documentation, observation, and test methods. The instrument used the validity test, the level of difficulty test, the test of discriminating power, and a reliability test. The data analysis technique used an analytical prerequisite and hypothesis tests (t-test). Based on the t-test result between the experimental and the control classes, it was obtained the value of 1.872 while ttable was 1.67. Above it, tcount > ttable, which means that the experimental class average is higher than the control class average. Hence, it can be concluded that the use of ethnomathematics-based mathematics modules on students’ critical thinking skills is better than learning that does not use ethnomathematics-based mathematics modules.

Abstract

Lack of students' ability to read and understand Islamic teachings well, practice religious values and daily life, feelings of insecurity, individualistic, and hedonistic attitudes during the covid-19 pandemic are still found. The study described in this article is aimed to determine the teacher professionality of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) in instilling religious values for students and teacher professionality in instilling religious values for students at SD Muhammadiyah Nitikan Yogyakarta during the Covid-19 pandemic. The type of research was descriptive qualitative research. The data sources were primary data and secondary data. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis used was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the teacher professionality of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) instilled religious values, had an educational background, and Muhammadiyahan as an organizational cadre who understood the vision, mission, and goals of schools and organizations. In addition, they had pedagogical, professional, personality, and social competence. They also could integrate religious values into the material contained in the lesson plans, using exemplary and habituation methods, and establishing good cooperation with parents and the community in controlling students.

Abstract

This article discusses the development process, the feasibility of podcasts as digital media on the material of human interaction with the environment. It is aimed to find out how social science learning subject material regarding human interaction with the environment that is packaged through digital podcast media, which is feasible to use and makes it easier to use and increases the listeners' understanding. The research was conducted online with the research subject of PGSD UPI students at Sumedang Campus. The research method used was the ADDIE research and development concept. The research concept of this ADDIE development model consisted of several stages, Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instrument used was a questionnaire for media validation. Based on the results of the validation analysis, it could be concluded that the quality of the digital podcast media product developed was categorized into the appropriate category. It could be seen from the results of the evaluations that was carried out by several students, the first student, the second student with an average media validity score of 3.83 was categorized into a valid category. Language validity was 3.25 with a valid category and material validity was 4 with a very valid category, which was a previous total category average of 3.69. With the existence of the research, it is required that it could be a solution for the constraints of learning activities, especially the solutions regarding media in learning.
