Abstract

Nowadays, Halal tourism has become a popular form of tourism which attracting many countries to capitalize on the Muslim market. However, because of the Islamic law, targeting this market segment may not be the same as targeting the mundane tourism segment. Hence, a cohort of studies suggests that the internet could be a solution to reach this specific tourism market. Furthermore, some studies also suggest that to influence Muslim tourism destination choice, tourism destination organizations should use Islamic Attributes of Destination in their promotion campaigns. This is also the case of Indonesia as the world’s biggest Muslim country, which is trying to attract Muslim tourists visit. Nevertheless, the existing studies on halal tourism promotion in Indonesia are still scarce. Adopting the qualitative form of content analysis, this research tries to add to the scant studies on halal tourism destination promotion in Indonesia by examining the content in official websites of DMOs according to the Indonesia’s national plan on Halal tourism.Keywords: Halal Tourism, Islamic Attributes of Destination, Destination Management Organization, Websites.

Abstract

This study aims to study the development of urban farming agrotourism planning in Sanur Tourism area. The approach used is the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), which is an approach that combines knowledge and opinions of rural communities in the planning and management of development programs. Data obtained through field observation,  Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and in-depth interviews involving all stakeholders in the development of agro-tourism Sanur. The study shows that the development of agrotourism aimed at two central points of development, namely: Subak Sanur in Sanur Kaja, with wide appeal in the form of farmers markets, urban farming field schools, and layout biocircle farming; and Subak Intaran kauh and Intaran Kangin in Village of Sanur Kauh and Sanur Kaja, with wide appeal among others cycling in paddy fields, education agrarian culture and irrigation systems Subak, attractions farming, social-religion activities, recreational fishing and bird watching. Development of facilities including the construction of gates and parking areas, information service facilities, toilets and bicycle parking, and a viewing post/gazebo, as well as cycling paths. Accessibility and circulation path aimed at structuring the Subak as cycling paths and setting its utilization by residents of Subak. Institutional development is directed to revitalization and empowerment of existing traditional institutions, through improvement of managerial capacity, prepare awig awig (written rules), and increasing the knowledge and skills of people in the process of adding value agricultural commodities.Keywords: development, agrotourism, urban farming, Subak-irrigation based

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the knowledge, action, perception, and attitude of landfill managers and community to Talangagung landfill program as an edu-tourism destination in Malang. Talangagung landfill became one of the best examples of waste management in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach by conducting field observations and questionnaire survey for data collecting. Questionnaires were distributed to community around landfill to assessed waste management in Talangagung landfill as an edu-tourism attraction. The data obtained was analyzed descriptive quantitatively by using Likert scale. The results showed that landfill manager and community had good knowledge about waste management practices based on environmental conservation principles. This was in line with the action, perception, attitude of landfill managers and community that supported the government program. The average Likert score of observed indicators indicated that respondents' answers were in the 'high level' category with a score of 3.92. It means respondents had a positive response to the questions posed by the researcher based on conditions in the field. Synergy and cooperation between landfill managers and community were one of the keys to support the success and sustainability of edu-tourism program in Talangagung landfill.Keywords: community, edu-tourism, landfill management, perspective.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to explore the value of home gardens at Abui community in Takpala Village, Alor Island,  a basis rural of rural tourism development. The value of home gardens was assessed in the perspective local people culture and perspectives. Therefore, ethnobotanical assessment using Important Cultural Value (ICS) index was implemented. Data was collected through field observation and interviews to local community. Survey was done in 15 house in Takpala settlements by identifying plant species in home gardens area. Interviews were performed to generate information regarding flora benefits in the daily life of local people in Takpala. Result of the study shows that homegarden has an important role among Abui community, especially in cultivating numerous plant species for daily life. Home garden has its potentiality to introduced as part of the tourism development attraction in Takpala Village.Keywords: conservation, economic plant, rural tourism, Timor home garden.

Abstract

Agro tourism is the community-based tourism activities that utilize the agricultural business as a tourist attraction that has many positive impacts which can improve the economy of society, especially in the form of society’s income, open employment opportunities and business opportunities (entrepreneurship). This research aim was to develop the concept of agro tourism in the largest coffee producing area in Malang Regency that is in Amstirdam (Ampelgading, Sumbermanjing Wetan, Tirtoyudo, and Dampit). This study used a qualitative approach by observing the four areas to see the potential of each region. SWOT technique was used to analyze data and the results showed that Dampit is one area that has more potential attractions than other regions. One area in Dampit that has the potential to be developed into agro tourism is Kampung Kopi Amadanom. The results of this research indicated that the effort for developing Kampung Kopi Amadanom was still not maximal due to the lack of local government support and also lack of quality supporting resources. This research suggested by using development model and applying appropriate strategy, it could provide and increase benefits not only for Kampung Kopi Amadanom but also for Malang generally.Keywords: Agro-tourism, Amadanom, Coffee Agro-tourism, Tourism.

Abstract

Digital tourism is one of three strategic priorities from Ministry of Tourism to increase the number of tourists who visit Indonesia. Tourism industry is one of the successful sector using Internet media to share destination images, where the tourism websites become a very useful tool to promote tourism by giving important informations for visitors. This study explores the effectiveness of official tourism websites in West Java province, Indonesia. Content analysis method, consist of three dimensions: Aesthetic (destination visualization, websites design); Informative (uniqueness, monetary value, and cultural promotion); Interactive (e-travel planner, online communities) were used to assess 29 official cities and regency’s tourism websites. The results presented in this paper showed that West Java tourism websites were found to be generally fair in one dimension but lacked to attracted visitors. Based on the result findings, it is recommended that the official tourism organizations should evolve their websites as the marketing tools and the most important for delivering positive images of the destination online. These research give implications for the local tourism websites administrator to improve the website’s content and also further research in tourism websites evaluation.Keywords: Content analysis, digital tourism, website’s evaluation, west java tourism.

Abstract

Ecotourism is one of environmentally friendly tourism activities which prioritizes the aspects of nature conservation, social economic culture empowerment and aspects of learning and education. Bira village, located in the coast of Makassar, has a good mangrove potential and it can be developed as a place of mangrove ecotourism. This research aimed to analyze the potential of ecology, socio-economic and supporting infrastructure for the eligibility of developing Mangrove ecotourism at Bira village of Makassar. The research design used was survey research which was descriptive analysis through case study approach. The method used was quantitative and qualitative approach. Quantitative approach used questionnaire method while qualitative approach used in-depth interview technique and field observation. Data obtained was analyzed by weighting method, spatial analysis and AHP. The results showed that the criteria of ecological eligibility included in the category was the value of 73.99; the category of socioeconomic eligibility was in accordance with the value of 81.55 and the eligibility criteria of supporting infrastructure included in the category in accordance with the acquisition value was 77.93.Keywords: ecotourism, eligibility criteria, mangrove.

Abstract

Home garden is one form of sustainable agricultural land management. Home garden is important as a local identity in a society especially in rural areas. The purpose of this study is to describe the uniqueness of the home yard in ecological tourism area of Puspa Jagad. This research was conducted in ecological tourism area of Puspa Jagad Semen Village, Gandusari District, Blitar Regency. Data collection was done by observation to the types of plants composing home yard. Interview was conducted to obtain data about the management of home yard and cultural aspects in it. Based on the benefits of these crops, the cultural value (ICS) and the value of UVS plant crops each. Based on observations, it is known that the diversity of plants in the home yard contained 151 species of 132 genus and 61 plant families. These plants are grown in general to beautify the atmosphere of the house. The stratified plant canopy vertebration in home garden in Ecology Puspa Jagad is dominated by strata III, II, and I. Based on the results of the calculation of ICS or Cultural Interest Index shows that the needs of the community depends largely on the local natural resources around. Based on the value of ICS and UVS, coconut and banana plant have the highest value.Keywords: ICS, identity, plant, UVS.

Abstract

The potentiality and limitation of tourism development in Boti Village of Timor Island lead to the needs of a comprehensive strategy to enhance the sustainability of tourism. The aims of the research are to describes the variable influence the sustainability of tourism and drawn the design for sustainable tourism in Boti Village. This research identifies 13 variables as crucial factors to determine the sustainable tourism in Boti Village. It is including strengthening  local law in Boti, implementation of tourism regulation, formalizing regulation related to tourism zonation, strengthening conservation program, infrastructure development, accessibility improvement, fundraising and generating public support for funding, strengthening community development program and implementation, promoting research for tourism development, strengthening role of local institution (or locally called Lembaga Adat/Masyarakat), strengthening role of government in tourism infrastructure and accessibility development, strengthening the role of private sector,  and developing and improving proper marketing strategy.Keywords: conservation, responsible tourism, sustainable tourism.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the influence of tourism sector to regional revenue of Malang Raya. In this case, tourism sector used the number of tourist arrival, hotel’s room occupancy rate, the number of restaurants, and the sum of PDRB (Gross Regional Domestic Product) during the period of 2006-2016. The secondary panel data from three Local Governments in Malang Raya is analyzed by using fixed effect model of multiple regressions. The result shows that all independent variables simultaneously give significant influence to regional revenue. Partially, the number of tourist arrival and hotel’s room occupancy rate give the significant influence to regional revenue. The other two variables, i.e. the number of restaurant and sum of PDRB did not give significant influence. A regression model of 97.76% is generated to predict regional revenue of Malang Raya. The conclusion gives an insight that local governments in Malang Raya should pay more attention to the effort of promoting Malang Raya to encourage tourist to come and stay longer, in order to increase the regional revenue and also to increase the share of the tourism sector to regional revenue.Keywords: Malang Raya, regional revenue, tourism.
