Abstract

English is very important as it is used globally for communication and opens up career opportunities. In the Grow Bareng Community, speaking in English is still low, so the "think pair share" method is used to improve this ability. This study aims to examine the effect of this method on self-efficacy and oral English commitment. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental design and Pretest-Posttest Group Design. From a population of 60 students, 30 samples were selected using Cluster Sampling, divided into experimental and control groups with 15 participants each. The instruments used were Likert Scales, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov with SPSS version 24.00. The results of the study show: (1) There was a significant increase in oral English self-efficacy in the experimental group after using the "think pair share" method (p 0.05). (2) Oral English commitment also increased significantly in the experimental group (p 0.05). (3) Overall, there was a significant increase in self-efficacy and oral English commitment in the experimental group compared to the control group (p 0.05). In conclusion, the "think pair share" method is more effective in increasing self-efficacy and oral English commitment in the Grow Bareng Community.

Abstract

The digital generation has had a significant impact on various aspects of life, including education. Elementary school students, as a generation that is in the stage of cognitive and social development, are vulnerable to the negative impact of using digital media without supervision, one of which is the decline in manners. This study aims to analyse the factors that influence elementary school students' manners in the digital era and the efforts made by teachers in instilling these values. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The results showed that digital media poses a big challenge to students' character building, especially good manners. However, character-based programmes such as the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), the implementation of the 5S culture (smile, greeting, greeting, politeness, courtesy), and collaboration between schools and parents can have a positive influence in instilling the values of courtesy. The role of the teacher as the main role model in shaping student character is crucial. In addition, continuous evaluation of programme implementation is needed to ensure the success of character building. With a good synergy between schools, parents and students, the value of good manners can be maintained and strengthened despite the digital era.

Abstract

The problem that occurs is that learning has not gone well. The reason is that lecturers have not created learning in accordance with the demands of technological development, not yet interesting learning. In terms of students, the lack of activities that encourage thinking activities. The objectives of this study are (1) To describe the implementation of the PBL learning model with quiz and improve student learning outcomes by using the PBL learning model assisted by quiz in Mathematics Education courses. The research method uses action research. The instruments used were observation sheets, test questions, and documentation. The subjects of this study were all 5th semester PGSD students totaling 32 students. The research data analysis technique is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The instruments used were observation sheets and test questions. The results of the PBL model research can improve student learning outcomes in Mathematics Education courses, the level of completeness of student learning outcomes in cycle I is known to be 76.87%, while in cycle II the level of student learning outcomes has increased by 83.59%. So the level of completeness of student learning outcomes from cycle I and cycle II increased by 6.718%, so the desired target has been achieved for the completeness of student learning outcomes, because at the end of the cycle it has reached the specified target of 70%.

Abstract

Elementary school students' ability to focus and concentrate is crucial for success in the learning process. However, fine arts learning at SDN 13 West Padang Panjang remains dominated by conventional methods such as free drawing, which are less effective in optimizing student focus. This research aims to test the effectiveness of the collage craft method in enhancing students' focus and concentration. Using a Quasi Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, the study was conducted on September 18 and November 20, 2024, involving all fifth-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year as the sample. A saturated sampling technique was used, including the entire population. Data collection methods included observation, documentation, and tests. Data analysis included normality, homogeneity, and t-tests using SPSS 21 for accurate results. The findings indicated a significant increase in focus and concentration among students using the collage craft method compared to those using free drawing, with a tcount value of 3.097, greater than ttable 1.685, thus supporting the alternative hypothesis. These findings support collage craft as an effective method for increasing student engagement and concentration in fine arts learning.

Abstract

This research developed Islamic Religious Education Teaching Materials based on PPT (Power Point) through the Research and Development (RD) method, which conducted trials on a large scale and small scale at SMKN 1 PROPPO PAMEKASAN, especially in Class X RPL. With this research, it was found that the proposed teaching materials were suitable for use, proven by the results of student group assignments in the form of concept maps. In its application, the research uses the Borg and Gall learning model. This process includes recognizing possibilities and issues, gathering information, designing the product, validating the design, improving the design, testing the product, and revising the product.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of visual design on students' interest in learning in elementary schools, especially on the use of colors and shapes in learning materials. Attractive visual designs are believed to increase students' interest and understanding, which in turn can improve their learning outcomes. This research used an experimental design with two groups, namely the experimental class which received visual design treatment and the control class which used conventional learning materials. Data was collected through pretests and posttests given before and after treatment. The results showed that there were significant differences between the experimental class and the control class. In the pretest, the average score of the experimental class was 3.26 points higher with a value of t = 2.584 and p = 0.013, while in the posttest, the difference in the average score increased to 11.12 points with a value of t = 4.215 and p = 0.000. These findings indicate that the use of attractive visual design can improve student learning outcomes, especially in material presented with visual elements such as color and shape. This research supports theories which state that good visual design can increase students' motivation, interest and understanding in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social media on elementary school students' social interactions, focusing on both its benefits and challenges. Social media has become a significant tool for communication among students, enabling them to expand their social networks and enhance essential social skills like collaboration and empathy. However, excessive reliance on social media has led to reduced face-to-face interactions, weakening interpersonal communication abilities and fostering shallow virtual connections. This qualitative research, conducted at Baros Mandiri 5 Elementary School, employs interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection methods. The results highlight that while social media can positively influence students' ability to connect, it also presents risks such as decreased social engagement and potential exposure to negative online behaviors like cyberbullying. Based on the findings, strategic recommendations are proposed for educators and parents to balance online and offline interactions, ensuring the development of healthy social relationships.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of advanced reading skills among students, which is attributed to two aspects: teacher-related and student-related factors during the learning process. From the teacher’s perspective, there was insufficient attention to students' learning styles, a lack of implementing a 15-minute reading activity before lessons, and a tendency to deliver materials and explanations without utilizing any media during teaching. From the students’ perspective, it was observed that students often played during lessons and found reading less engaging. The aim of this research is to improve advanced reading skills using the whole language approach with interactive PowerPoint media. The research method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in advanced reading skills after implementing the whole language approach with interactive PowerPoint media. During the first cycle, the results of advanced reading skills in the Indonesian language subject for Grade IV students at SDN Malangga showed a completion rate of 70% based on assessments conducted over three sessions. In the second cycle, the students' advanced reading skills improved, with the completion rate increasing to 90%. This demonstrates that the use of the whole language approach with interactive PowerPoint media can significantly enhance students' advanced reading skills.
