Abstract

ABSTRACTAnnona muricata L. is a kind of plant growing and fruiting perennially if the water  demond  is  apparently  sufficed.  A.  muricata  L.  seed  has  averagely  less germination power, however it can be improved by the induction. Coconut water is proved to induct that power because it contains some essences supporting seed growth: auxin, gibberellind and cytokinins. This research was carried out at 13rd January until25th   February in Physiology Laboratory of Biology Departement Unversity of Padang. This is a descriptive research which used six concentrates of coconut water are: 0%,20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% with every concentrate is put on four plastic scuttles. The observation was held six week to find out days when seed started growing and amount of seed germinating. The result showed that germination in 60% appeared in19th      day.  The  writer  summarizes  that  coconut  water  dad  not  be  able  to  inductgermination of A. muricata seed. The result evidenced that from 120 seeds germination, there werw only 7 seeds started growing.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sea cucumbers (Holothuroidea) is one class of Echinodermata (thorn-skinned animals) that live in coastal waters Saibi that have no nutritional value and high economic. This causes the animal much overexploited by communities around the coast that have reduced the presence of population. Based on this research has been done on the composition  of  the  cucumbers were  found  in  Saibi  Beach  Middle  Siberut  Mentawai District, in December 2012. This research is descriptive and sampling using belt transect method with squares measuring 1 m2. Sample identification is done in Laboratory Animal Ecology, State University of Andalas Padang. The results showed that sea cucumbers were found to be composed of 6 species which consists of 1 class, 1 order, 2 Family and 4 genus Holothuria consisting ie 3 species, whereas Stichopus, Bohadchia Thelenota and 1 species each. Highest density at Station I (3.66 indivedu/m2) and the lowest at Station III (2.99 individu/m2). Highest frequency contained in the Station I (3.66%) and the lowest at the third station (2.99%). Indeks Divesty  is highest at the first station (1.4672) and lowest in the Station II (1.3693). Abstract

ABSTRACT Salmonella  typhi is  the  bacteria  that  causes  typhoid  fever  typhoid.  Typhoid  occur  in  the presence of bacterial infection Salmonella typhi. Bacterial infection control can be done by giving antibiotics, but the bacteria have a high level  of resistance to  antibiotics. Resistance of bacterial resistance to antibiotics caused an increased mortality rate. It is therefore necessary to find a new alternative antimicrobial drugs. Bidara upas (Merremia mammosa ( Lour ) Hall.f ) is a plant that has a role as an antimicrobial because it contains compounds like flavonoids, resins and bitter substances. The purpose of this to determine the effect of tuber extract bidara upas (Merremia mammosa ( Lour ) Hall.f ) on the growth of Salmonella typhi. The study was conducted from August to September 2013 in the Laboratory Kopertis X, Padang. Using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. Data were analyzed by of variance (ANOVA), and a further test of Least Significant Difference (LSD). The results showed each tuber extract treatment bidara upas provides growth inhibition against Salmonella typhi bacteria. Of the study concluded bidara tuber extract (Merremia mammosa ( Lour ) Hall.f ) can inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhi.
