Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of insect pests that attack the rice plant is Leptocorisa acuta Thunb ( ladybugs stink ) . Local people know Leptocorisa as pianggang acuta Thunb . This pest attacks the rice in a productive phase by sucking fluids rice fruit . These pests can cause grain to be empty will result in a decrease in yield . In connection with that have done research on population density Leptocorisa  acuta Thunb on rice plants from 25 until May 26, 2013 . Sampling was done at Koto Nan Tigo Kenagarian district Batang Kapas South Coastal District with a descriptive surve y method and the direct collection of the Leptocorisa acuta Thunb that existed at the study site by way sweepan ( sweeping ) . Collection by using systematic random sampling  technique  sampling  .  Decision  made  for 2  days  in a row 2  times  ( morning and afternoon ) on flowering phase and phase cook milk . Decision made at 15 points  in each  phase  . The results  were  obtained  an average  population density is 33.93 Leptocorisa acuta perpengambilan tail . In this case acuta Thunb Leptocorisa population had crossed the threshold .

Abstract

ABSTRACTGalangal is one of spices for cooking. Galangal ussually sold in the form of minced ginger, galangal added by water in milling  process water, as ussual the processing merchant of  galangal do not wash it by running water, and do not wash the equipment with clean water. Bacteria contamination  in the food still can occured. In the process the galangal added by water to much and preparation  often contact with humans and equipment in every steps. This study aims to conduct bacteriological testing ground galangal (Alpinia galanga L.) which sold in Pasar Raya Padang. Types of research used in this research is descriptive research, by looking at the presence or absence of Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria in the sample of milled galangal. The method used to determine the bacteriological quality of minced Galangal is the MPN method which consists of three step: the estimation test, confirmation test and test assertion perfection. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Natural Sciences Andalas Univercity. The results showed in the prediction test almost samples are positive it also occure in confirmation test and the test of perfection. Index of Escherichia coli and Coliform MPN found sel/100 0-96 and 4.4-240 ml. Based on this study can be suggested to traders of milled Galangal can be milled to maintain cleanliness during processing and storage of it, and recommended to the citizen should select the galangal wich will bought. And also need to do further testing to determine the classification of coliform bacteria were obtained.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this research was to know the effect of completing concept map that followed by spotlight games on biological study achievement at class 2 of SMPN 2 Kecamatan Bayang, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. This research was an experimental research which is used randomize design. The population was all of the student’s at class VII of SMPN 2 Bayang which are registered for academic year in 2012/2013 at second semester. They are divided into 7 classes. The sample is gotten from randomize way. The sample was class VII6 as experimental class and VII5 as the control class. The data analysis is used the t-table at 0,05 as the passing grade. Based on the hypothesis testing, the value of t-calculation (4,68) was bigger than t-table (1,64). It’s mean that hypothesis is accepted. Therefore it can be concluded that completing concept map that followed by spotlight games can increase student’s biology achievement at at class 2 of SMPN 2 Kecamatan Bayang in academic year 2012/2013.

Abstract

AbstrakTurmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.) Is a plant with a rhizome that many are, both in the scale of household or industrial scale. Concomitant development of technology, the production of ready-made mealsfavored by society, one of which is tumeric. This research was carried out with the aim to do bacteriologicaltesting of tumeric (Curcuma domestica Val.) Of some traditional market in Padang, implemented in June2013 at the Laboratory of Microbiology Department of Biology, University of Andalas Padang. The research was conducted with descriptive methods, purposive sampling is done at 5 sampling traditional marketsnamely Padang city, Bandar Buat market, Gaung market, Lubuk Buaya market, Simpang Haru market, andSiteba market. Further bacteriological testing done with these steps: 1. Test estimation (Presumtive test), 2. test assertions (Confirmed test) and 3. completion test (Completed test) using the MPN method (MostProbable Number) by using a combination of 5:1:1. Results obtained from this study tumeric samples containing bacteria with a total range of 23 x 105  cells / ml - 155 x 105  cells / ml. Highest total bacteria recovered in tumeric sold at Gaung market in sample 1 while the lowest total bacteria recovered in tumeric Siteba sold in markets in the sample 1. Tumeric samples from five traditional market in Padang city has coliform bacteria MPN value range from 2.0 to 240.0 ml sel/100 and bacteria E. coli from 4.0 to 240.0 ml sel/100. This proves that tumeric being sold from a number of traditional markets in the city of Padanggenerally not eligible consumed because they contain bacteria E. coli > 3 colonies / g and coliform bacteria >100 colonies / g.

Abstract

ABSTRACT             Succes or failure of a teacher in study process influenced by many factor, one of amongs use how the lesson plan (RPP) make or the designed by teacher before study which process this research purpose to know related between indicator with a purpose to study, the purpose of study with material of study and the purpose of study with evaluation of study in lesson plan (RPP) compiled by teacher in the first public high school and Private secondary school in Padang City.Result of research shown in the first public high school criterion relevant between indicator with purpose of study very related equal to 83,12 %, the relevant of purpose of study with material of study very related equal to 90,57%, and relevant between purpose of study with evaluation of study enough related equal to 53,20%. Private secondary school in criterion relevant between indicator with purpose of study very related equal to 89,45%, the relevant of purpose of study with material of study very related equal to 87,06%, and relevant between of purpose of study with evaluation of study enough related equal to 47,61%. The conclusion relevant between indicator with learning purpose, learning purpose with learning material. So relevant, and learning purpose with evaluation is relevant.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Ethnobotany is a study of benefit plants by the society to support life need. It has great benefit especially for the society who live around mangrove area. One of mangrove forest in West Sumatera is in Teluk Buo Kecamatan Bungus Teluk Kabung Padang city. It has many advantageous. It can be physical aspect, ecological aspect and economical aspect. The purpose of this study is to find the kinds of mangrove that was used by the people in Teluk Buo Keamatan Bungus Teluk Kabung Padang city. This research was conducted on June 2013. The method that as use is survey method through observation and directly selecting the sample in the field of the research, monitoring, collecting the note in the field. The sampling technique was using vertical and horizontal technique. Collecting of data by society with 33 respondent. The research meet 17 species mangrove plants benefit by society, 11 species benefit to medicine is Ardisia elliptica, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Melastoma candidum, Acanthus illicifolius, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Lumnitzera littorea, Pongamia pinnata, Scyphiphora hidrophyllaceae, Rhizophora apiculata, Ceriops tagal, and Cassia alata. 15 species mangrove plants  to benefit another is Ardisia elliptica, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Melastoma candidum, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Lumnitzera littorea, Pongamia pinnata, Scyphiphora hidrophyllaceae, Rhizophora apiculata, Aegiceras corniculatum, Ficus microcarpa, Dolichandrone spathacea, Pandanus odoratissima, Nypa fruticans, Ceriops tagal and Sonneratia caseolaris.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) widely used for the treatment of various diseases, such as influenza, HIV anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory, antifertility. The main content of the bitter is Andrographolide. Andrographolide is the activeantimitotic bitter agentthat prevents cell division (cytokinesis) and reduced sperm count. This study aimed to determine the effect of extract of bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) on the quality of epididymal spermatozoa of mice (Mus musculus L.) Swiss Webster.This research was conducted usingCompletely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 6 replications. Firs (I) treatment was the control, without any bitter extract. Treatments II, III, and IV is the provision of a bitter extract orally for 36 days with a dose of 0.2 g /mice/day, 0.4 g/mice/day or 0.6 g/mice/day. After treatment, the animals were decapitated, dissected and taken epididymal, and then put into the cup petridis already containing PBS solution. Calculation of number of normal and abnormal spermatozoa number were conducted using Improved Neubauer. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis Of Varian) that epididymal sperm normal and abnormal.The results shoured by the average sperm count is highest in the control of 29.83 x 105, whereas at a dose of 0.2 g of as much as 18.17 x 105, 0.4 g of as much as 24.33 x 105 and 0.6 g as much as 14.17 x 105. Delays due to the reduced number of sperm in the seminiferous tubules of the process of mitosis by antimitotic compounds. While granting that the higher the extract resulted in increased number of abnormal sperm. The causes of abnormal sperm maturation of spermatozoa due to disruption in spermiogenesis phase. The fewer the number of normal sperm treated with increasing doses. It can  concluded that the extract of bitter given orally for 36 days can decrease sperm quality mice and increases sperm abnormalities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Soil is one of important factors directly affecting growth and development of mangrove forest. The relationship between mangrove and soil is complemented by the ability of different types of mangrove to grow in different substrates. Rhizopora apiculatais distributed in all textures of soil (loam, sandy loam, clay loam, sandy clay loam, clay and loam sandy). Sonneratia caseolarisis distributed in loam, sandy loam, clay loam, sandy clay loam and clay. Aegiceras corniculatumis distributed in loam, sandy loam, sandy clay loam and loam sandy. Dolichandrone spathacea is distributed in loam, sandy loam, clay loam, and sandy clay loam. Bruguiera gymnhorrizaand Hibiscus tiliaceus are distributed in loam,sandy loam, and sandy clay loamwhile Acanthus ilicifolius is distributed in loam and sandy clay loam. This study aims to comprehend the relation between the distribution of the plant with the texture of soil in the mangrove forest of  teluk  buo in the subdistrict of bungus teluk kabung in the city of padang. This deskriptive work was performed form June to July, 2013. Samples were colected from a 10 m by 10 m study plot placed along transection line from the star of shoreline until the border between mangrove and land forest. At the study location  transections were created with the lenght of 160 m (transection 1) and 180 m (transection 2). With the distance between recorded for each plot, knows plants were recorded on the spot while the unknows were collected at mangrove forest of the teluk buo and soil textures were determined at the laboratories. The study found that there are six types of soil textures in the area consisted of loam,sandy loam, clay loam, sandy clay loam, clay and loam sandy. Distributed plants were identified as Rhizophora apiculata, Sonneratia caseolaris, Aegiceras corniculatum. Bruguiera gymnhorriza, Dolichandone spathacea, Acanthus ilicifolius, and Hibiscus tiliaceus.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sambiloto(Ind) or Bitter(Eng) Andrographis paniculata Nees., can used in the treatment of various diseases, such as influenza, cancer, antiinflammatory, antiHIV, antimitotic and antifertility.This study aimed to determine the effect of  the herbal bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) to ejaculated sperm quality mice (Mus musculus L.). This research  was conducted  using Completely Randomized  Design  (CRD)  with  4 treatments and 6 replications, water and fed adlibitum. First treatment is given solvent extract. Second treatment extract were given 0.2 gram, third treatment were given 0,4 grams of extract and fourth treatment were treated exstrac 0,6 gram the orally for 36 days. After the mice decapitated, dissected and take sperm from vas deferens. Then, the sperm preparation determined using the improved Neubauer. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Varians).The results shoured at doses of 0,2 gram, the average sperm count was 12,00 x  decrease significant when compared with the control in which the average number of sperm 28,08 x  . So with this research the effective doses to decrease sperm count and can be used as a contraception medication dosage was 0,2 gram. It can be conclude that the extract of bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) can decrease the quality of the ejaculated sperm of mice (Mus musculus L.)

Abstract

ABSTRACT The population caterpillar onions ( Spodoptera exigua ) on red onion can reduce onion yield . In connection with the matter has done research on the population density of Spodoptera exigua ( Lepidoptera : Noctuidae ) on red onion in Kampung Batu kecamatan danau kembar kabupaten solok which aims to determine the population density of Spodoptera exigua on red onion in Kampung Batu kecamatan danau kembar kabupaten solok.This research was conducted in August-September 2013, with a descriptive survey method is by way of direct collection of the larvae of Spodoptera exigua existing research the location. Field sampling conducted on red onion age of 4 weeks and 6 weeks after planting. Physical environmental factors measured the temperature and humidity. Widely used as a study area of about 30 x 20 m.The results were obtained an average population density of Spodoptera exigua on shallot in Kampung Batu kecamatan danau kembar kabupaten solok was 4.05 individuals / plant. Spodoptera exigua population densities are found already crossed the threshold of pest control.
