Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of red fruit extract (pandanus conoideus lam) and green coconut water on the quality of Balinese cattle semen during cold storage. This research was conducted at the Field Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology. The method used was experimental laboratory. Semen used came from 2 Balinese cows aged 2-3 years collected 1 week 2 times. The research design used a Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 4 conditions and 10 repetitions consisting of P0 (control) = CEP-2 + 10% egg yolk, P1 = diluent of red fruit extract + coconut water + 10% egg yolk. P2 = red fruit extract diluent + coconut water + egg yolk 10% + fructose 1 mg/ml. P3 = red fruit extract diluent + coconut water + egg yolk 10% + fructose 2 mg/ml. The data generated will be analyzed using Analysis of Variance. The results showed that the best motility and viability in P0 (42.41 ± 1.72%) and (40.10 ± 1.12%) and low abnormality <10% which lasted until the 8th day of storage, then followed by P2 (43.19 ± 1.34%) and (47.22 ± 1.12%) and abnormality below <14%. After that followed by P1 (42.26 ± 1.40%) and (45.28 ± 1.19) and P3 (42.16 ± 1.37%) and (43.44 ± 1.17%) each P1 and P3 had abnormalities below <14%. In conclusion, the three diluents P1, P2 and P3 were able to maintain motility, viability and abnormality until the 5th day after storage so that the use of a combination of red fruit extract and coconut water in liquid semen can be used for the implementation of IB in the field.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui level penambahan bakteri asam laktat (BAL) dalam hal ini Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) berbeda yang mampu mempengaruhi sifat fisiko-kimia dan fungsional susu kurma. Metode penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Faktor perlakuan adalah level penambahan bakteri asam laktat (0, 1, 2 dan 3%). Setiap perlakuan dilakukan pengulangan sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan bakteri asam laktat (L. casei) berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap penilaian total asam laktat, derajat keasaman (pH), viskositas dan antioksidan, dan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap aktivitas antibakteri (Staphylococcus aureus) . Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nyata (P<0.05) pada setiap level penambahan L. casei terhadap penilaian total asam laktat, pH, viskositas, antibakeri dan antioksidan. Semakin tinggi level penambahan L. casei maka akan terjadi peningkatan total asam laktat, viskositas, aktivitas antibakteri dan antioksidan serta penurunan pH. Penambahan bakteri L. casei akan menghasilkan produk susu kurma yang asam karena adanya asam laktat yang merupakan metabolit bakteri. Total asam yang terbentuk akan mengakibatkan penurunan pH dan terjadi peningkatan kekentalan (viskositas) produk. Sifat fungsional antibakteri dan antioksidan yang ada pada kurma semakin optimal dengan adanya penambahan L. casei namun. Penambahan bakteri asam laktat pada susu kurma mampu mempengaruhi sifat fisiko-kimia dan fungsional produk. Level pemberian bakteri (3%) memberikan sifat fisiko-kimia yang terbaik dan memiliki sifat fungsional lebih tinggi.

Abstract

This research aims to measure the quality of semen and morphology of spermatozoa cells in male goats as a basis for making frozen semen. The increase in the goat population in North Central Timor Regency is still relatively low. The rearing system carried out by the community is still traditional and the goat farming business is used as a side business with livestock ownership ranging from 5-10 heads with 1-2 males. The limited number of male peanut goats greatly limits livestock breeding, so efforts need to be made to groom goat semen in the form of frozen semen. Before freezing semen, it is necessary to know the characteristics of peanut goat semen which are related to the quality of the fresh semen produced as a condition for making frozen semen. Semen collection is carried out 5 times at intervals once a week in the morning using an artificial vagina. The results of macroscopic evaluation of spermatozoa showed that the average volume of semen ejaculated was 0.7 mL ± 0.06; the color is yellowish cream, has a typical smell of peanut goat farming, the consistency is thick, average pH: 6.647 ± 0.11. Meanwhile, microscopically, the mass motility value is: +++ (good), individual motility value: 85% ± 3.07, viability value: 82.5% ± 2.51, concentration: 1.763 x 109/mL ± 0.30 and abnormalities spermatozoa: 11.5 ± 2.16. Results of measurements of spermatozoa cell morphology in male Peanut goats mean head length 7.17 ± 0.65 μm, head width 4.11 ± 0.60 μm, tail length 33.82 ± 3.77 μm and total length of spermatozoa cells 40.99 ± 4 .42 μm . The results of this study can be concluded that male Timor bean goats have high spermatozoa quality and good spermatozoa cell morphometry to be continued in the retail and semen freezing stages.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the hematocrit, urea and blood glucose levels of thin-tailed sheep fed feed containing various levels of Carica Dieng seeds in complete feed. A total of 18 lams aged 3-4 months with an initial body weight of 10.68 ± 1.30 kg were fed treatment following a completely randomized design pattern: T1 = complete feed + 5% carica seeds, T2 = complete feed + 12,5% carica seeds, 5%, and T3 = complete feed + 20% carica seeds, with 6 repetitions. Blood samples for hematocrit levels were taken at weeks 2 and 9 of the treatment phase, while urea and blood glucose levels were taken at week 9, 0 hours before eating, 3 and 6 hours after being given morning food. Hematocrit levels were measured using a hematocrit reader, while blood glucose and urea levels used a scalvo analyzer. The results showed that various levels of carica seeds in complete feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the hematocrit, glucose and blood urea levels in sheep. The average hematocrit level at weeks 2 and 9 were 21.94 and 28.16%, the average glucose level at 0 hours was 71.22 mg/dL, and at 3 and 6 hours each was 79.00; 85.94 mg/dL. The average urea level at 0 hours, 3 and 6 hours was 30.21, 26.96 and 27.26 mg/dL. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that using Carica Dieng seeds in complete feed does not cause haematological disorders characterized by blood profile levels within normal limits.. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of antibiotics (Zinc bacitracin) and multi-strain probiotics (Lactobacillus casei, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rhodopseudomonas palustris) on broiler bone quality. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The parameters measured were the increase in length and percentage of calcium content of the tibia and femur bones. The method for analyzing broiler calcium content uses the Atomic Absortion Spectrophotometer (AAS) method. Research treatments on broilers, namely: Basal ration (control) (P0), Basal ration + Multi Strain Probiotics (1-35 days), 1.5 ml/day (P1), Basal ration + Antibiotics (1-35 days), 0.1 g/day (P2) and Basal Ration + 0.1 g/day Antibiotics (1-21 days) + Multi strain probiotics (22-35 days), 1.5 ml/day (P3). The results showed that treatment (antibiotics and probiotics) on the length of the tibia and femur in broilers obtained P1 (7.3 cm), P2 (7.1 cm), P3 (7.1 cm) and P0 (7.0 cm) did not significant effect (P>0.05). Meanwhile, the percentage of bone calcium in the tibia and femur has a significant effect (P<0.05) with percentages P0(10.2%), P1 (14.4%), P2 (12.4%) to P3 (10.6%) so that it can It was concluded that administration of the antibiotic Zinc Bacitracin and multi-strain probiotics (Lactobacillus casei, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rhodopseudomonas palustris) in drinking water had a significant effect on the calcium content of the tibia and femur bones. Meanwhile, administration of the antibiotic Zinc Bacitracin and multi-strain probiotics (Lactobacillus casei, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rhodopseudomonas palustris) in drinking water did not significantly affect the length of the tibia and femur in broilers.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui suplementasi level glutathione pada pengencer semen cair dalam mempertahankan kualitas semen sapi peranakan ongole (PO) selama simpan dingin. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Lapang Program Studi Peternakan Fakultas Sains dan Ilmu Komputer. Metode yang digunakan yaitu eksperimental laboratory. Semen yang digunakan berasal dari 2 ekor sapi PO umur 2-3 tahun ditampung 1 minggu 2 kali. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 4 Perkuan dan 10 ulang yang terdiri P0 (kontrol) = pengencer ekstrak buah merah + kuning telur 15%. P1 = pengencer ekstrak buah merah + kuning telur 15% + Glutathione 0,75 mM. P2 = pengencer ekstrak buah merah + kuning telur 15%+ Glutathione 1 mM. P3 = pengencer ekstrak buah merah + kuning telur 15% + Glutathione 1,25 mM. Data yang dihasilkan akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Analisis Ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengencer EBM+ KT 15%+Gthn 0,75 mM memiliki kualitas lebih tinggi dengan lama simpan mencapai 6 hari dengan motilitas individu 44,21 ± 1.19% dan viabilitas 40,61± 1.11% dengan abnormalitas <20% setelah penyimpanan. Suplementasi level glutathione 0,75 mM pada pengencer semen cair EBM+KT 15% merupakan dosis yang optimal dalam menghasilkan motilitas, viabilitas dan abnormalitas yang baik, serta dapat digunakan dalam aplikasi IB dilapangan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different protein levels on the visceral organ of wandering whistling ducks. 108 ducks were reared for three months with details of 1 month of feed adaptation period and 2 months of feed treatment with different protein levels. This study consisted of 3 treatments, namely P1 with 12% protein , P2 with 15% protein , and P3 with 18% protein. Each treatment consisted of 9 replications, and each experimental unit consisted of 4 5-month-old wandering whistling ducks. The parameters measured in this study were the weight of the visceral organs of wandering whistling ducks (liver, heart, pancreas, and lungs). The data obtained were analyzed for variance, if there were significant differences a further test was carried out with Duncan's test. The results of this study indicated that the protein level had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the visceral organs of wandering whistling ducks. The lowest protein level, namely 12%, did not have a negative effect on the visceral organs of wandering whistling ducks.This study can be concluded that the protein level of 12% -18% in a feed of wandering whistling ducks has the same effect on the development of visceral organs.

Abstract

Eggs are one of the main products produced by poultry with high nutritional value. Eggs have the disadvantage of being easily damaged, either in the form of physical damage, chemical damage and damage caused by microbes. This study aims to determine the effect of the quality of duck eggs preserved with jackfruit leaf extract (Artocarpus heteropyhllus lam.) and what changes occur after soaking. This research method uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The research design is based on the jackfruit leaf extract used, the first treatment is (PO) = 0% (control, without jackfruit leaf extract), and (P1) = 15% (using jackfruit leaf extract) with a soaking time of 22 hours, (P2) = 30% (using jackfruit leaf extract) with a soaking time of 26 hours, and (P3) = 45% (using jackfruit leaf extract) with a soaking time of 30 hours and (P4) = 60% (using jackfruit leaf extract) with a soaking time of 34 hours. The parameters observed were the shrinkage of egg weight, air cavity, color and pH of duck eggs. The results showed that the addition of jackfruit leaf extract had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the shrinkage of egg weight, air cavity, color and pH because it did not cause significant changes in duck eggs.

Abstract

Research on goat feeding behavior is used to see differences in several activities such as browsing and rumination activities of kambing kacang. This study used a sample of 20 bean goats with an average age of over 1 year. This research was conducted in two places, namely the Nanga Banda Landfill (TPA) and Nampar Tabang Village. The data that has been obtained will be analyzed using the t test. The results obtained that the difference in the behavior of peanut goats raised in the Nanga Banda Landfill and Nampar Tabang Village has a HI conclusion where the two groups have a tendency to differ in browsing and rumination eating behavior Thitung>Ttable. In browsing behavior 11.73> 2.10 and rumination 3.10> 2.10. There are several factors that can influence this, namely topography, availability of feed ingredients and weather.

Abstract

The study aimed to estimate the heritability of body weight in first-generation (F1) native chickens during the starter period. A total of 100 native chickens, F1 offspring from the natural mating of 4 males with 5 females each, were used as research samples. Chicken body weight was measured weekly for body weight data at one day, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks of age. Descriptive statistical analysis by calculating the mean, standard deviation (SD), and coefficient of variation (CV) was used to describe the body weight of the native chickens during the starter period. To determine the estimated heritability, a full-sib mating design analysis model was used. The results showed that the average body weight of the native chickens during the F1 generation was 26.51 g at one day of age, increasing with age to 177.34 g at 4 weeks of age, with estimated heritability ranging from 0.02 to 0.30, which is included in the low to moderate category. The use of starter period body weight as a selection criterion is more efficient in producing high genetic improvement for traits related to meat production.
