Abstract

Background: Labour is considered obstructed when the presenting part of the fetus cannot progress into the birth canal, despite strong uterine contractions. Obstructed labour can leading fetal asphyxia that indicate low APGAR score. In this case the delivery method can affect the state of the fetus. This study aimed to determine the difference APGAR score between vaginal delivery and caesarean section in obstructed labour. Methods: This analytic study was observational using cross sectional approach. The population of this study was all infants who was born by mother with  vaginal delivery and caesarean section deliveries in obstructed labor at RSUD Dr. Moewardi. A total of 30 subjects were selected by purposive sampling method in accordance with the inclusion criteria. The data of APGAR score was collected by viewing the medical records from the subject. The data was analyzed using Independent T Test on SPSS 16.0 for Windows program. Results: The analysis showed a difference between APGAR score (first and fifth minute) in each group was significant. The first minute APGAR score has p 0.021 obtained for delivery method. APGAR score at five minute has p 0.041 obtained for delivery method. APGAR score at ten-minute was not significant with the delivery method, with a p-value 0.059. Conclusions: There is statistically significant differences between APGAR score at first and fifth minute in vaginal delivery and caesarean section in obstructed labor. Keywords: apgar score, obstructed labour, delivery.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a condition of reduced levels of hemoglobin ( Hb ) which  leads to impaired maternal oxygen delivery to form energy in the uterine muscles to make contractions in labor. This research aims to investigate the relation between anemia and prevalence of uterine inertia. Methods: This was an analitic-observational cross sectional study using medical record data from 1 January 2012  – 30 May 2012 . A sample of 112 subjects was selected  from patiens who gave birth with anemia in Moewardi hospital. Sample was conducted in total sampling. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square test. The difference seen from the result by Risk Ratio ( RR ), while the significance of the result seen by the value of            p ( p < 0,05 ). Results: Analysis of Chi-Square test showed a statistically significant relationship between anemia and the prevalence  of  uterine inertia. The result obtained from the analysis was p = 0,001( p < 0,05 ). Conclusions: There is statistically significant relatonship between maternal anemia with prevalence of uterine inertia in Moewardi hospital during period the first of January 2012  – the thirtith of  May 2012  . Keywords: anemia, labour, uterine inertia.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety is a state of excessive tension or inappropriate tension which is characterized by feelings of worry, uncertainty, or fear. Anxiety can be overcome with good emotional intelligence. Of the five areas that exist in emotional intelligence, self recognizing and managing emotions are the aspects who have a big role to overcome anxiety.  This study aimed to determine  whether there is a difference of anxiety between high emotional quotient and low emotional quotient of  students year of 2010 doing mini thesis in Medical Faculty of UNS. Method: This research was an analytical descriptive research using cross sectional approach. The subjects were Medical Faculty students year of 2010 of Sebelas Maret University. Data were collected by using purposive sampling method within inclusion and exclusion criterias. Emotional quotient was measured by Emotional Quotient questionnaire, while anxiety was measured by Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale. For assesing and finding honesty in answering questions given, was used L-MMPI scale questionnaire. Sixty samples were obtained and analyzed using Chi-Square test through SPSS 20.0 version for Windows program. Result: The result of research showed that 23 students (76.7 %) who have low emotional quotient were feeling anxious and 7 students (23.3 %) who have low emotional quotient were not feeling anxious. While 9 students (30 %)  who have high emotional quotient were feeling anxious and 21 students (70 %)  who have high emotional quotient were not feeling anxious. Chi-Square test showed the result of p = 0.000 and Odds Ratio = 7.667. Conclusion: There is a significant difference of anxiety between high emotional quotient and low emotional quotient of  students year of 2010 doing mini thesis in Medical Faculty of UNS. Abstract

Background : Many cases of abortions are caused by abnormal hemoglobin levels. World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 35-75% of pregnant women in developing countries and 18% of pregnant women in developed countries undergo anemia while being pregnant. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the incidence of spontaneous abortion with hemoglobin levels. Methods : This study is an analitic observational study with cross-sectional design. Its population are pregnant women who had been treated at the Obstetrics and Gynecology of Dr. Moewardi General Hospital. Subjects were taken with purposive random sampling technique. The data were collected using direct observation and subjects’ medical records. Data were analyzed using Chi Square. Results : The results of this study found 40 subjects due to the case of this study. Subjects with anemia who did not experience abortion counted only 2 people (5.0%) and subjects who experienced abortion counted as many as 17 people (42.5%). While subjects with normal hemoglobin levels who did not experienced abortion aggregates to 18 people (45%) and subjects who experienced abortion counted as many as 3 people (7.5%). The calculation obtained p-value = 0.000 <0.05, and OR = 0.020, which means there is a relationship between the incidence of spontaneous abortion with hemoglobin levels. Conclusions : There is a significant relationship between the incidence of spontaneous abortion with hemoglobin levels. Low hemoglobin levels will increase the risk of abortion. Keywords: abortion, hemoglobin levels, anemia

The sample was taken using total sampling for the entire class XII. Purposive random sampling conducted for the dormitory student that can represent the whole dormitory students and performed simple random sampling for students who live with their own biological parents according to the number of samples required (sample of dormitory students). The samples filled in ( 1 ) Curriculum vitae form, (2) L - MMPI questionnaire to find out the respondent’s truthfulness in completing the questionnaire, ( 3) BDI questionnaire to assess depression score, score ≤ 9 means no depression and score > 9 means depression. Data obtained 72 students as the subject of research and the data were foanalyzed using Chi Square test through SPSS 17.00 for Windows . Results: This research showed the Chi Square (X2) value is 0,084, while the price of X2 table on db = 1 at the 0.05 significance level is 3.481. This means that the X2 count < X2 table. In addition the p-value calculated is 0.772 or p > 0.05, then the null hypothesis is accepted. Chi-square test result’s showed that there was no significant difference of depression level between students living in dormitories and students living with their biological parents. Conclusion: There was no difference of depression level among class XII students who live in dormitories and who live with their biological parents in SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. Abstract

Background: Diazepam and midazolam is used as premedication for anesthesia. Diazepam and midazolam as the benzodiazepine drugs can cause changes in mean arterial pressure. This study aimed to prove the difference in mean arterial pressure changes between diazepam and midazolam as premedication for general anesthesia. Methods: This was an observational analytic study with cross-sectional method. Using consecutive sampling, we selected patients who fulfill the inclusive and exclusive criterias. Thirty patients were selected and divided into group of diazepam and midazolam. The first group was given diazepam 0.07 mg/kg intravenously and the second group was given midazolam 0.07 mg/kg intravenously. The blood pressure is recorded before giving the premedication and in five minutes after giving the premedication. The differences in mean arterial blood pressure between the two groups were analyzed by independent t-test. Results: The result showed a non-significant difference in mean arterial pressure before the administration (p=0.198, p>0.05) and five minutes after the administration of diazepam and midazolam (p=0.335, p>0.05). Conclusions: There is no significant difference in mean arterial pressure when using premedication of Diazepam and Midazolam administration. Keywords: Diazepam, Midazolam, Mean Arterial Pressure
