Abstract

This study analyzes the shift in Hanan Attaki’s da’wa practices through the phenomenon of religious mediatization, based on Stig Hjarvard’s theory of religious mediatization. In the digital era, da’wa develops beyond physical space through social media platforms and other digital channels. Research data were obtained by observing content on Hanan Attaki’s official accounts, such as YouTube, Instagram, and other digital platforms, and interviews with offline study participants who follow her da’wa activities. The results show that the mediatization of religion allows for significant changes in preaching in terms of format, message, and interaction with the audience. Hanan Attaki uses modern approaches relevant to popular culture to reach the younger generation. In this context, Hanan Attaki makes the media a tool for dissemination and a space for reconstructing religious practices. This research provides insight into how the mediatization of religion changes the method of da’wa and creates a new space for the development of religion in the digital era and strengthening the relevance of da’wa in modern society.

Abstract

This ethnographic study investigates wirid (Islamic devotional) activities at the micro-community level, routinely practiced as a form of da’wa (Islamic mission). Data was collected over three months, from January to March 2020. The findings reveal that wirid activities extend beyond fostering individual piety, significantly contributing to enhanced social solidarity among community members. Employing social drama theory, this article elucidates how wirid activities serve as a collective discourse to forge social cohesion among Muslims. The study identifies that preachers strategically disseminate narratives emphasizing the contemporary erosion of Islamic values, thereby strengthening social solidarity through the wirid. Furthermore, preachers leverage these gatherings to recount the historical grandeur of Islam, motivating Muslims to collectively strive for its resurgence.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the research trends in radio da'wah, identify relationships between scientific concepts, and determine the radio da'wah science network based on keywords and author collaboration. The method used in this research is descriptive bibliometric analysis, and the data used was taken from 2013-2023. Data was collected from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases with the keyword da'wah radio. Data collection was carried out using Publish or Perish software as metadata. Data analysis was carried out using Vosviewer software as a bibliometric analysis medium. The research results show that da'wah radio publications experience fluctuating development, with Scopus publications being very low. Meanwhile, publications in nationally accredited journals and national journals have increased significantly. From the visualization Vosviewer, it can be seen that Islamic institutions or universities dominate research on radio da'wah.

Abstract

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are included in the Qur'an, so they can be called Quranic STEM (Q-STEM). The purpose of the study is to find out how Quranic STEM has an influence on da'wah development in the digital era. The research method used is quantitative, with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test (K-S) precondition test and the Levene homogeneity test with Cronbach's Alpha threshold value, as well as hypothesis testing with the t test. The study was conducted on the student population of the Campus Da'wah Institute (LDK) at IPB University with a purposive sampling of as many as 84 people. The results of the normality test found that the Q-STEM variable got a sig value of 0.20 > 0.05 and the digital era da'wah variable 0.20 > 0.05, so that the data was normally distributed. Then, the homogeneity test results were obtained at 0.071 > 0.05, so the data was homogeneous. The results of the t-test hypothesis test were obtained at 0.00 < 0.01, indicating that the research found that Q-STEM had a significant influence on the development of da'wah in the digital era.

Abstract

Digital media technology has a significant impact on life and using it for preaching (da’wah) is very important to expand the reach of the audience, including the younger generation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. A Google Form containing 22 open-ended survey questions was distributed to various universities in four provinces in eastern Indonesia. A total of 29 survey responses were recorded, but only 9 responses could be analyzed using theory-based data triangulation techniques. Informants highlighted two main themes: appealing aspects of digital da'wah and challenges and criticisms of digital da'wah. The findings emphasize the need for digital da’wah that adds to religious insight and is engaging. It also found that the younger generation dislikes preachers who tend to justify their own group and discredit other groups.
