Abstract

The study aims to find out the improvement of social adjustment in university on International Studies on Science Education (IPSE) student of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) after being given social personal guidance. This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of experimental research. Subjects in this study were 44 students taken with random sampling technique. The data collection tool in this study used a scale of social adjustment in college. The data analysis in this study uses t-test. The results showed that personal social guidance can improve social adjustment in college students by using sociodrama, simulation, and experience techniques. This study presents an alternative strategy for academic advisors in universities to facilitate students in developing social adjustment skills in universities.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the improvement of students’ interpersonal communication skill after coming to assertiveness training through role play method in group guidance. This was a quasi-experimental study with nonequivalent control group design. The number of subjects in this study was ten people in the experimental group and ten people in the control group. The subject of this study was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data collection instrument for this study was valid and reliable interpersonal communication scale. The data analysis technique in this study was the nonparametric statistic with Mann Whitney U Test or Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the score of experimental and group control. It means that assertive training through role play in group guidance was more effective to improve students’ interpersonal communication skill than the implementation of group guidance without assertiveness training. The result of this study showed that the use of assertiveness training through role play was an effective method in group guidance service for improving students interpersonal communication. The school counselor can utilize the result of this study to improve the students’ interpersonal communication by using assertiveness training strategy through role play in group guidance service.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the profile of Bidikmisi  students at Semarang State University (UNNES). This was a quantitative study with descriptive survey design. The subject of this study was 462 university students who were taken by simple random sampling technique. The data were collected by using career adaptability scale.The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Based on the result of the analysis, it was found that the average profile of UNNESS Bidikmisi students’ career adaptability was 51% and was categorized as high. The result of this study shows that the attempts in improving students’ career adaptability by the lecturers, parents, and university counselors are needed

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the reality counseling in developing students’ career decision. This was a one group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study. The subjects of this study were seven students of 2013 Guidance and Counseling department whose score stability was lower than career decision by using a close-ended questionnaire to collect the data. The data analysis technique of this study was paired t-test. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that there was a difference in the students’ stability score of career decision. The pre-treatment score was low, while the post-treatment score was high. It was proven by the result of T-test analysis which p = 0.000 < 0.05 and t count 8,280 > t table = 2,447. It can be concluded that the reality counseling was effective to develop career decision. This study is recomended for the university counselor to reinforce students’ career decision through reality counseling.

Abstract

This study aimed to produce a guideline for the social care educational game for the elementary school students which meet the criteria of accuracy, usefulness, simplicity and attractiveness. This was a research and development study adapted from Borg & Gall model by the data analysis technique using Wilcoxon. This study employed purposive sampling technique. The result of this study found that the guideline of social care educational game met the criteria of accuracy, usefulness, simplicity, and attractiveness for Elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover the learning difficulties experienced by the guidance and counseling students on group counseling practicum. This study was categorized as a descriptive study involving 286 students of seven Universities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta as the sample of the study. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique of this study was a learning difficulties in group counseling practicum questionnaire by open and closed-ended questions. The data of this study were analyzed by using simple descriptive analysis by calculating the percentage and the categorization of the questionnaire score. The result of the study showed that the most contributing factor to the the students’ learning difficulties on the group counseling practicum was the aspect of the lecturer teaching method by 53.31%. Besides, the result of the open-ended questionnaire showed that lack of group counseling basic skill mastery is one of the difficulties they experience during the group counseling service at the school. It contributes 38.46%. It showed that the practicum teaching methods need improvement to optimize the students ability in practicing group counseling in school. This study becomes the basic consideration of the needs of learning model for group counseling practicum for the students of guidance and counseling in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover the students’ satisfaction towards the counselor’ performance in the individual counseling service on SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Yogyakarta. This was a descriptive quantitative study. The data of this study were collected through questionnaires. The subjects of this study were thirty-five students. This study employed descriptive statistical analysis to analyze the data. The result of this study showed that the students’ satisfaction towards the school counselor performance covers three aspects of individual counseling service (the beginning, the middle, and the end) in SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Yogyakarta. Six students were categorized as very satisfied (17%), twenty three students were categorized as satisfied (66%), and six students were categorized as not satisfied (17%).  The result of this study can be a reference for school counselor as the evaluation in improving the quality of school counselor’ performance in the individual counseling service.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the profile of religious identity on late adolescents. This was a quantitative study with descriptive survey design. The subject of this study was 134 students of Guidance and Counseling Department of Yogyakarta State University who were taken by simple random sampling technique. The data were collected through Religious Identity scale. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics.  The result of this study showed that 100 subjects were in the achievement status (75%), 27 subjects were in the searching moratorium status (20%), and seven subjects were in the foreclosure status (5%).  The result of this study took a role as the basis for formulating a guidance and counseling service to develop the religious identity on late adolescents.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the relationship between the counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness and the students motivation in participating the group guidance. This was a correlational study. The subject of this study was 246 students of the eleventh grade of state senior high schools in Malang city as the respondents. The subject of this study was taken by cluster random sampling technique. This study employed Pearson product-moment correlational test to analyze the data.  The result of this study showed a positive and significant relationship between the counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness and state senior high school students’ motivation in participating group guidance by (r = 0.622) and (p= 0.000 < 0.05). Higher counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness leads to higher students’ motivation in participating group guidance. This study proved the importance of the counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness in providing group guidance so that the students are highly motivated to participate in group guidance service.

Abstract

The present study aimed to explore the depiction and the factors of subjective wellbeing of santriwati pondok pesantren. The present study was categorized into phenomenological qualitative study. The subjects of the study were female adolescents aged (15-18) who were the fourth year santriwati, there were 6 people and three significant persons who were selected by using purposive sampling.  The data were collected using a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed by transcribing the interview, coding, and interpreting as well as drawing the conclusion. Based on the study, cognitive component named santriwati's life satisfaction that was expressed by gratitude and positive relation with their friends and pondok pesantren environment. The affective component was in the form of positive and negative affect. Positive affect such as being comfortable with the facilities in pondok pesantren, being happy when completing memorization target, and being happy for mutual strengthening among friends in pondok pesantren. The negative affect such as being sad to be far away from the parents and pressure due to school activities and pondok pesantren activity.   The factors affecting subjective well-being of santriwati Pondok pesantren were self-esteem, personal control, extroversion, optimism, positive social relationship, life meaning and goal, as well as idolized model or figures. The result of the study can be used as consideration for the school counselor in providing assistance and simple skill regarding well-being to the subjects in Pondok pesantren.
