Abstract

Abstract This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of using PhET Interactive Simulation as a virtual laboratory for science learning in elementary schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques used were literature review, questionnaire, and interview. Data analysis used was analysis techniques by Miles and Huberman. Based on the data analysis results, PhET Interactive Simulation was effectively applied to learn Science in Elementary School during the Covid-19 pandemic. Students could find the science concepts by themselves with the help of PhET Interactive Simulation to make learning more meaningful. PhET Interactive Simulation was proven able to visualize concepts that were initially difficult to understand. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that PhET Interactive Simulation was effectively applied as a virtual laboratory in Elementary schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. In its application, it is better to provide a user guide in the form of audiovisual or video.

Abstract

Abstract Bullying cases that occur in the world of education can no longer be stopped. This case continues to happen if educational system does not solve the problems that arise today. Islamic Education (PAI) teachers have an essential role in preventing these cases. This study aims to describe student learning process, Islamic education teacher strategies in student learning, Islamic education learning management, and strategy for strengthening student character in preventing deviant behavior. This study was qualitative research. The instruments used were in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out in four stages: data collection, simplification, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicated that in developing students' emotional intelligence, PAI teachers used several strategies to manage the learning process. In addition, character education for students was done as a solution to prevent deviant behavior. Therefore, developing students' emotional intelligence can also prevent deviant behavior.

Abstract

Abstract The emergence of Integrated Islamic Elementary Schools (SDIT) is a solution to answer the needs of urban Islamic education for students to receive adequate Islamic education without going to Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to determine the content of the 2013 curriculum and the process of Islamic education implemented in Integrated Islamic Elementary School Logaritma. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive quantitative analysis with additional interview data. The results of this study indicate that the content of the 2013 curriculum in Integrated Islamic School Logaritama contains: 1) memorizing hadiths from class I to class VI as much as 48 hadiths; 2) memorizing 48 surahs of the Qur'an with 995 verses. While the process of Islamic education is carried out by: 1) memorizing hadith regularly at the beginning of learning process; 2) reading surah of the holy Qur'an using Ummi method; 3) reading sirah (story) of the prophets twice a week; 4) habituation of the dhuha (morning) prayer; and 5) the habit of praying in congregation.

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to determine the implementation of tolerance character education through social science learning in elementary schools and the level of student understanding in implementing tolerance character in everyday life in the school environment. The methods used were quantitative and qualitative. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The data sources were the principal, the fifth-grade teachers, and 46 students. Data analysis techniques used were percentage formula and interpreting the qualitative data. The results of this study indicated the implementation of tolerance character education through social studies learning in elementary schools was categorized as very good, and students' level of understanding in implementing the character of tolerance in everyday life at school was categorized as very good. Therefore, educational institutions must continue to pay attention to the character learning process even though it is only inserted into the core learning (field of study) so that the character education process can continue to run well and always socialize various learning models.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of conducting this research was to examine the influence of learning motivation and interest of students and parents’ attention on learning outcomes during distance learning. This research used quantitative method with a correlational approach. The population was all students of the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in SDN 117 Pekanbaru, while the sample was 128 students selected using probability sampling. The instrument was a questionnaire by giving a series of questions to students. The data were analyzed using statistical data analysis with multiple regression. The results indicated a clear partial or simultaneous relevance of learning motivation, parental attention, and interest in learning to student learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers need to increase students’ motivation and interest in learning at school and establish communication with parents to increase their attention to their children.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the implementation of character education on students’ honesty and find its supporting and inhibiting factors. The method used was quantitative descriptive. The research participants were 32 students from classes V and VI of State Elementary School Kaliboyo, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments were an observation sheet and a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using quantitative analysis. The results indicated that character education in fostering students’ honesty used several indicators, such as the teachers reminding students not to cheat, reporting school activities transparently, and having an honest student recruitment system. Habituation also needed to implement, such as the habituation of 6R (Concise, Clean, Neat, Diligent, Caring, and Friendly), the habituation of 5S (Smile, Greetings, Greetings, Polite, and Courtesy), and donating habituation. Besides, the factors that influenced the implementation of character education in fostering the honesty of State Elementary School Kaliboyo were teachers as role models, students themselves, guardians/family, and the school discipline system. At the same time, the inhibiting factor was unsupporting environments.

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to describe how learning through ICT-based simulation model in online learning affected the learning activities of students in elementary schools. This study was descriptive qualitative research using a case study method conducted at Pelita Cemerlang Elementary School, Pontianak. Data collection used two data sources, namely primary data obtained from interviews and observations and secondary data obtained from books, journals or relevant scientific articles through e-books and e-journals. Data analysis was carried out by reducing the data, presenting the data and drawing conclusions. The research results indicated that implementing ICT-based simulation model in online learning fostered students’ learning activities. It proved by each indicator of learning activities, namely: the involvement of students in completing the assigned tasks, actively asking questions, being involved in discussions, being able to solve the problems given, being active in finding information related to the material provided, and able to assess their abilities.

Abstract

Abstract From the pre-colonial era until now, education is a right and obligation for everyone. Education and independence are always related to one another. In Indonesia, everyone is given the freedom to determine for themselves what kind of education they want. This research explained the importance of preparing and designing education for children through the freedom to be creative and innovative with the concept of independent learning following Islamic values. This study used qualitative approach in the form of descriptive-analytic analysis. Data were collected from various literature and then analyzed by interpreting the meaning of the data. The study results indicated that the concept of Freedom to Learn was one of the references in creating superior and quality students. The most important thing about Freedom of Learning felt by every level of education, such as elementary, middle and even tertiary level, was creativity in learning activities so that the educational process became superior and independent.

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to describe the integration of character education values and the feasibility of learning materials for character education values in the thematic textbook theme VII, "Events in Life," for class V students. This study was qualitative with a discourse analysis research design. The data sources in this study were the 7th-theme "Events in Life" of the thematic textbook for class V students at MIS Muhammadiyah Gowa. The instruments used were interview guidelines and data cards. Data processing and analysis techniques were carried out in three stages: data condensation, data presentation, data verification and conclusion drawing. The results showed that there were 14 values of character education in the thematic book, religious character values, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, democratic, curiosity, national spirit, love for the homeland, friendly/communicative, peace-loving, fond of reading, social care, and responsibility. Three main things were found, which indicated that the book has the feasibility to be studied by students, namely: (1) increasing faith and piety, (2) character and mastery of science and technology, and (3) increasing sensitivity and concern.

Abstract

Abstract Local wisdom contained in an area is very diverse. One of the local wisdom is found in West Bangka district as the community's identity, which is still being carried out from generation to generation. Thematic learning links various aspects of the student environment. This research aimed to develop cultural diversity learning materials to increase the effectiveness of thematic learning. This research was carried out using the R&D method with ADDIE model. The research subjects involved were 8 students and 3 experts. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaires and documents. The data were analyzed using ADDIE steps: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The result indicated that the students were very enthusiastic about the developed teaching materials because it was easy to understand and received very good responses from students. The developed teaching materials for class IV received a positive response from students.
